Leeds v Southampton 71 72 season
Leeds United v Southampton in the 1971/72 season. Lorimer hat trick. Good to see hand shakes after goals, no silly gestures and dances. No rolling around the ground after tackles. Just got up and got on with it.

First Concorde to land at Leeds in a high crosswind.
Переглядів 24 тис.8 років тому
I was on board on 2nd Aug 1986. First ever Concorde to land at Leeds. Air France. A charter flight for enthusiasts from Paris to Leeds. Going supersonic over the North Sea. When we landed it was very hard. Crosswind made it a difficult, if not dangerous as the Captain explained, and oh boy what a landing.
I always thought it was a go around because we get crazy crosswinds up here.
I seen way bigger today in Queenscliff
In 1996 BA nearly had one of their concordes off the end of runway32 at LBA due to a late landing, apparently it was down to the glare of the sunset?
Nonsense he did a go around wheels out the lot could not do it first time and his French enough said but us aviators know different
Star Destroyer energy here
Absolutely amazing looking steel bird/
Legend has it this was his 'proof of experience' video for his Ryanair application...
Beautiful aircraft
Holy crap! It looks like the exhaust nozzles come within centimeters of scraping the tarmac!
Planned fly past? Are you sure it was just pilot bravado? I still think that he had to go around due to the crosswind (doing a fly past so close to the ground - gear down - in a crosswind? Fool hardy, or, as I say, a go around). In the windy city with a crosswind, pilots have to slip with wing down into wind, then plant the aeroplane down hard to get it stuck. But that bounce? Luckily there were no burst tyres nor a tail touching the deck (although Concordes were catered for in that regard), he probably should have gone around again on the first bounce!
I can only tell you what the pilot told us before coming in to land.
He was obviously a great pilot and just wanted to get it down if was a coward this wouldn’t of been the first Concorde to land at Leeds Bradford and another divert to Manchester…..well done to the pilot for having faith in the greatest aircraft of our lifetime
1:55 And thats how Ryanair learn how to land
why didnt ryanair use the concorde?
@@yhfhdcf because Ryanair wasn't around back than, and even if they were they wouldn't have enough money to buy and maintain a Concorde.
I saw this on the day the noise was awsome
Very nearly a tail scrape. Air France nearly wrote a Concorde off in Dakar due to a heavy landing. aviation-safety.net/wikibase/146999
I've seen lots of videos where the AF Concordes bounce on landing, and damn near all the BA pilots land them smooth as silk
I felt that in my spine
that bouce was the sexiest thing ive ever seen
sorry for you then
Appalling landing. Should have gone around on the bounce
Victor Grasscourt you land it then.
He went around once already. He put it down hard the second time because the winds were not cooperating. It's important to dump the lift as quickly as possible to avoid having the aircraft pushed off the centerline of the runway by the crosswinds. You'll see nearly every pilot do this when the crosswinds are near the published limits of the aircraft.
@@itsumonihon something that sounds neat as hell, but don't know if there's any videos of it..... Captain Hutchinson said because of the Delta wing design Concorde could go fast as it wanted just above ground, and that the pilot actually had to create the lift to get her airborne. I thought that's pretty cool
The one time I was on Concord that’s they way our landing felt and we did lean to one side after the bounce. Overhead bins came open, people screamed and the dude next to me grabbed me. As I was leaving I asked the chief steward ( think that’s what they called him ) what’s with that landing and he replied in his proper British accent “Sir that’s the way the Concord lands”.
R u from Yorkshire too cos I am
Born n bred Loiner.
I am...are you my son?
I was 9 when this happened and I was on the top of an open top double decker bus with my Dad and Grandad. It parked on the taxiway at the side of runway 32 when you landed! I have been looking for photos of the bus for years!!
Hope you enjoyed the spectacle. We all did.
