Glazed Ginger Molasses Cookie Tutorial and Recipe
Thanks for watching! This recipe is one of my go-to’s for holidays and parties. They are quick, simple, and a crowd pleaser. Below are the ingredients for the cookies and for the glaze. This will give you about 3 dozen cookies. Enjoy!
These cookies are baked at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 10-12 minutes. It’s better to check them at 10 minutes as they can over bake and become dry very easily.
Cookie Dough Ingredients:
130 g vegetable shortening
165 g brown sugar
1 lg egg (50 g)
174 g molasses
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp ground ginger
1 tsp ground cloves
1 tsp ground nutmeg
345 g all-purpose flour
Glaze Ingredients:
4 Cups powdered sugar
4-6 tbsp milk
2 tbsp corn syrup
1 tbsp vanilla extract
If your glaze seems too thin you can add a little more sugar. If it seems too thick, add a teaspoon or two of milk. If you have leftovers, it can be stored in the fridge for up to a week.
These cookies will keep in an air-tight container for up to 5 days. If you want to make them ahead and freeze your cookie dough, the portioned dough can be stored in a freezer bag for up to a month.

These are very thick. With icing on them, they’d be much too fat. How thin can one make them?
These cookies stay soft, so it’s not too thick at all. Thicker cookies are also sturdier if you plan to do a lot of decorating and individually package them. Because of how soft they are, the thinner you do them, naturally they will be more fragile. Of course you can make them thinner if that’s how you prefer your sugar cookies. You will want to bake them less time so that they do not get hard during baking.
