I'm Shade (or Eric). I'm just a widower in his late 30s rekindling a passion for gaming, after experiencing some incredibly difficult loss in recent years (wife and brother). I upload unedited recordings of my Twitch streams here. I don't do this to make money, so I always appreciate thoughtful commenters.
I'm a bit of a variety streamer (sometimes with friends); RPGs, survival crafting, puzzle games, and other genres -- anything from Chrono Trigger to Final Fantasy Tactics to Subnautica to Assassin's Creed. In these uploads, I am sometimes in the "Streaming" voice channel on my personal Discord server (to be transparent to any friends who join mid-stream), so even in solo games, you will sometimes hear them if they join.
I appreciate you for taking the time to check out my channel. It's a really small community here; there are some cool regulars that just watch, and some who regularly watch streams and write to the chat, but I appreciate them all for choosing to spend time with me!

Which server is this? Live?
We're on Vox!
i miss this game so much. I ran a full party with 6 laptops lol and had a blast .
U really should learn how 2 edit your vids
If I did this for profit, I would consider it, but like my channel's description clearly states, I just upload my unedited streams. This one's pretty old at this point, it's been a long time since I dated my uploads! But I'll take your comment as a compliment that you think it would be good as an edited VOD, so thanks. ;)
You were supposed to use the master ball and catch Mewtwo!
Ha! Of course that's the natural thing to do, but I've done that enough times. I decided to just go for the kill this time. :)
What server?
Vox :)
Falling asleep. Lol
Well, I hope you wanted to sleep, and if so, you're welcome! I don't upload these from the angle of a super-entertaining mega-streamer, so... if you're watching these, you should pretty much know what you're getting into. EQ is also just that kind of game when you're grinding.
Mercenaries are so cheap it doesn’t matter even a little.
Power leveling ever quest. Ah those was the days.
What is the name of this map?
Hey, it's been a while since we played this map (or this game). Aside from the name in the first 5 seconds of the video, I managed to find the file, and we apparently renamed it "Raj's Super Fun Time." That being said, I don't remember where we found the map or anything. But I did upload it on file.io, if you don't mind blindly trusting an internet stranger's link: file.io/XB53UAEtdJ5i
What's the point of playing the "hard mode" pod on too easy?
We picked Too Easy for every pod. This was not any kind of special exception. We figured some day we would return to the game and do Easy on all of them instead, but we haven't gotten there just yet. :)
NICE! i didnt know you could do rom hacks on the pc port
Good vid! Keep it up!😊
Hey, thanks for being kind enough to take the time to leave such a nice comment. I appreciate it!
where do i download star road?
It comes included in the base Super Mario 64 Coop mod, which you can download here: sm64coopdx.com/
i have no idea how this has only 17 views, this is great content
Wow, that was really nice of you to take the time to write such a kind comment. Thank you and I'm glad you enjoyed! I stream us playing this on Twitch every Monday and Tuesday evening (US time). Setting up for our Tuesday session now!
Good gameplay!
Hey, it's kind of you to take the time to write that. I appreciate it! Glad you enjoyed!
This was my first game and system. Memories
Tip: use medium generator that is supplied by a smelter smelting organic from a tapper. Worked very well for me in my world. It powers all my bases
Broooooo I had the same reaction to having to go through the Mines again to get back to the Destiny after the Black Dragon Cave 🤣🤣🤣
Im wondering why im subscribed but ive never seen this game in my life or any off your content but i must off 😂bro i need some help
Man I wish I could have been there live for that reaction to that cutscene.
Hey Shade. What accessories do you have on Lemia for Burning Rage? I'm replaying Lunar 2 right now and can't seem to find the correct combination? How can I obtain that spell for her, may I ask?
Hello friend! Burning Rage is an ability you get by equipping the Hero's Talisman, acquired from a treasure chest after defeating the boss in the Brave Labyrinth. See me get it here: ua-cam.com/video/vVslz6YmcqA/v-deo.html Anyone can equip it, but I put it on Lemina in conjunction with a Goddess Crest and a Shiro Crest (unless I'm confusing it with the Chiro Crest), which guarantees that she always goes first and buffs everyone's power before they take a turn. Edit: Lunar 2 Map so you can find the Brave Labyrinth: gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps/197807-lunar-2-eternal-blue/map/7890?raw=1
This is a classic good game imo
But max lv on EARTH Mode is only lv 200 not that it matters since you can't get 20% Elemental resist on the PS4/PS3 game so the post game bosses even at lv 200 would likely hit for 99,999 PER spell hit even if 5000 defense is good enough to make their physical hits do no damage at all. ' Theirs also NO save points in the Cave of the 7 Stars once you start the fights their.
Cool? Again, completely irrelevant information for my run XD I mean, unless there's someone whose comments I can't see asking about Earth Mode or the PS version, it's a bit of a mystery why you keep bringing them up. You should write a blog or a walkthrough or something, you always seem to have a lot to say about random things and you seem to want to help people; it's just bizarre you're doing it in the comments of my low-traffic videos, where your audience is generally only me, someone who already probably knows more than what you're writing about. :) You should wander over to the forums/Q&A sections on GameFAQs, I seriously feel like you're just itching to provide that kind of help to someone.
You say not that it matters yet still put in the work to type the seemingly useless info out, feels like you are just venting about something that bugs you and thats it
Well due to lack of save points in MOST of these games POST game dungeons I'd rather be immune to all enemy damage and in this one even on Earth mode you can't on the PS4/PS3 version so even at lv 200 on Earth mode I would not likely even last for 10 seconds before the final boss of the 7 star ruins kills everyone in 1 hit or even Iselia queen at the END of the Wondering Dungeon.
This guy does this on a lot of my videos. Bizarrely oblivious and tone-deaf, just rambling about things that either have nothing to do with my run, or things that I already clearly explain in the video. It's really weird, but for some reason it's like a fly drawn to the light or something like that. I don't get it...
For the 100 AP restore items I made sure I had ENOUGH of them for Ryu to spam the 999 damage Dragon Attacks every other turn so in order to kill Barubary AND the LAST boss with it you need between 10 and 20 of them since both bosses IRC have at least 10,000 HP but even at lv 99 Barubary can kill Ryu IF you fight it SOLO. Ryu using the 999 Dragon summons is exactly WHY I never let HIM use chop chop for leveling I gave it to Ninja to kill Chorkings/low defense stat enemies since even at lv 60 her physical hit damage still sucks and both her and Ryu never left my party.
Yep, I get it; you relied heavily on the 999 damage from the Gold Dragon to win the final two fights. That's cool if that helped you. It would have served no purpose for me other than turning attack moves for my party into using items instead, and just having Ryu attack. It just wasn't necessary at all in my case. I can see it as a type of strategy, but at that point, I probably wouldn't have bothered leveling as much. Same with the Chop Chop. Putting it on Nina was completely useless for me. Again, I get why you would use it -- you are clearly demonstrating that you're using it in one of the scenarios I describe that doesn't apply to me whatsoever -- a lower-level run, or a run where you're trying to be efficient and save AP. But had I done it your way, there would be a completely unnecessary part 17 and a part 18 to my run. I think this is the part you're failing to understand, so instead you keep repeating the same useless information about ChopChop ad nauseum: using ChopChop on anything other than the Chorkings was 100%, indisputably USELESS for me in my run. Why waste time selecting ChopChop from a menu when I can fast forward and end a battle in 1-2 seconds instead? I had the AP to sustain any extra healing that came out of doing it, so why would I ever consider ADDING time to my run and wasting it by giving it to Nina? In my case, it served much more of a purpose giving it to the hero. If you have a different preference and do something different YOURSELF, that is fine-- but it has nothing to do with me or my run. Giving it to Nina and actually using it from time to time would have wasted more time and resources than it would have saved me. Why would I give her a move she'll never use? It was much smarter for me to give it to the hero in my case.
Normally for the post game I recommend being at lvs over 130 before you reach the 7 star caves LAST floor but the exp boosts for that are ONLY good for the 360 version same with having 5000+ defense and the +20 in all elemental resist which again can't be done in the PS3/PS4 version. That and on Earth mode you can't even GET the trophies in game and WITHOUT that you can't even HIT lv 255 in this one in the first place max lv I believe WITHOUT over half of them PER party member is lv 200 only BUT the post game bosses without the full 20 resist all spells + 5000 + defense will likely to EASILY do 99,999 damage in 1 hit at lv 255 IF you could hit lv 255 on Earth mode to begin with you can't.
Mostly irrelevant information to me since I wasn't planning to do any of that. XD You know I don't have any desire to dump the kind of time into the game that you're suggesting...right? Yet another thing I specify in this video, as well as one or both of the ones before this, so once again it seems like you weren't paying much attention. You don't need to waste your time writing things that I'm never even going to do or take advantage of in this run. I know those things were a possibility in the Xbox 360 version, and some in the PS version, and a lot of them were nuked in the Remaster. I've long since accepted this, and long since abandoned the idea of doing even half of what you spent time writing about there. I just want to beat the game and have a good time -- I'm not going to waste hours and hours of my time min/maxing to the scenario you describe. It's just not a fun grind and it's completely unnecessary for me in this game. Because let's be honest, if I'm getting anywhere close to Lv.255, the gear I have equipped becomes pretty irrelevant at that point in my case (if you're paying literally any attention to my run, you know I'm not going for the highest difficulty of everything, so continuing to write about stuff down that path is a waste of your own time, I'm afraid). Cool if you have the time to do that kind of stuff and want to, though, but you can save the effort of typing this kind of stuff and write it on a GameFAQs page where someone is actually asking for help with any of this. I would just like to note that It would be so much more fun interacting if your comments were more relevant to the videos you comment on, as it would give us something more useful to potentially discuss -- like in this case, a more relevant comment that shows you were actually paying attention would have been something like 'if doing minimal crafting, I would probably try to get to level X before starting the Cave of the Seven Stars' since that's clearly what I'm attempting to work on in this part ...versus the tone-deaf comments you tend to leave, followed up by me pointing out how I generally already know whatever random thing you choose to write about...feels a little old at this point...but I'll keep mentioning it if it continues, like I said, hahah.
In most of the Star Ocean games it takes me around 130 lvs to max out everything SP spending wise on Earth mode its still too bad the PS3/PS4 remaster exp boosts SUCKS due to that the Boosts are only broken on the X box 360 version and don't exist on the PS3/PS4 version at all. Same with Broken equipment on the PS3/PS4 version its nearly impossible to take the REAL BUYABLE Tri Emblems bought in the Post Game Cave of Trials dungeon from Santa and CONVERT all of its stats to the FAKE Tri Emblems and yes the Fake Tri Emblems can be reproduce but really only worth it on the 360 version of the game where you can have the fake ones with the full 20 points in ALL elemental resist. That's nearly impossible to do on the PS3/PS4 version.
Oh, I'm already almost done maxing out SP (well, for things I'm actually going to use -- I don't care about maxing out useless skills like Fury or MP Boost) and I'm only level 80 at this point, so I was a little ahead of the game SP-wise in this playthrough. I definitely took opportunities to get ambushed and build those SP nodes on the bonus board, and it paid off. I'm not sure what level I'll end up on at the end of the postgame content, but I'm guessing I'll be overflowing with extra SP by that point. The original synthesized the first stat modified from gear onto new gear, which is why you were able to stack 4x +20% (or in your example, resistances, or any other stat boost) on weapons and accessories in the original. Unfortunately they nerfed that in the remaster, so I can't do it in the playthrough I'm uploading here, but it's not a problem. I didn't mind when I learned that it was nerfed, because it'll save me time from the grind to make the gear, plus the game will still remain at least a little bit of a challenge. There's something not so fun about wiping out 100% of the difficulty of something...even if the chances are lower, it's still more fun knowing I'm fighting something that can still kill me.
My final party besides Ryu is always going to be Rand Nina and Bleu I gave Chop Chop to Nina and kept her in the party for the entire game once its usable. Sten may be useful for COLLECTING all of the final dungeon chests but since he still sucks for in battle use I didn't bother to ever put him into the party for BOTH visits to Infinity at all.
That's cool. I find fun in leveling everyone to some extent, but I guess I tend to have the same party for the final dungeon because of the utility offered by that team. It's a good balance of damage output and OK healing ability. I gave ChopChop to the hero because he never left the party like Nina did for me. Served me much better doing it that way since I didn't ignore the rest of my party members in this playthrough. Putting it on Nina would have been a waste. I can see how it would be useful on lower level runs than mine, though. I would certainly consider it if I never slowed down to do any leveling. Who are you arguing with about Sten? I merely pointed out that if anyone is going to be useful outside your main party at the end of the game, it's him, because he's the only other one you NEED to bring into Infinity if you want a full clear of treasure chests. You can technically ignore leveling anyone else if you don't plan to use them. But leveling him serves more of a purpose than someone like Katt for someone you aren't going to use for the final battle anyway, you can't really argue that. :)
I gave chop chop to Nina only because I used the G Dragon 999 damage summon for Ryu every other turn in boss fights by now Nina still has a low physical attack stat that's another reason I gave Chop Chop to her.
Like I said, I understand why someone would give it to Nina for lower-level runs than mine where the ability would be useful in more situations, or for instances where she would otherwise be using physical attacks that would do less damage, but that is never the case for me when I use Nina in boss fights. She is always doing something much more useful like casting Bolt X, so ChopChop becomes irrelevant for me in that type of situation since I wouldn't have anyone use it in a boss fight. Quite literally, my only use for the ability in this playthrough was to kill Chorkings, so it was more useful to have it on the hero in this playthrough.
In my case I didn't use it for just Chorkings I had Nina use it to kill OTHER low defense non boss monsters but ones that you should NOT use Bolt X besides Bleu can use Bolt X as well. Even with Nina at lv 60+ I still had Chop Chop do more damage then HER physical attacks to enemies where you should not be using spells.
There's the catch; if I was ever fighting a boss where spells weren't useful, then it wasn't a difficult fight, and chances are I could speed through it with fast forward without even paying attention to the battle. I'd rather end a battle taking a few extra attacks, but the battle ends much faster since regular attacks work well enough. If not, then it falls into my "lower level run" description -- I get it being useful in a lower-level run than mine. Find a single battle in my entire Breath of Fire II run where having Nina use ChopChop would have made a noticeable impact on how it turned out. You won't...because there aren't any. I overleveled to compensate for it. There is really no instance where Nina will need ChopChop over level 60 because there are no bosses where she should be doing anything other than spells. If you're trying to be super efficient and save AP, or use the minimum amount of physical attacks to end a fight, sure, but all of that is useless to me. Just pay any attention to any of my uploads and it becomes pretty obvious pretty quickly. If you're trying to sell ChopChop, you're selling it to the wrong person. It had no use besides the Chorkings here. XD
Only Rand Blue Katt/Nina + Ryu are worth leveling to lv 50 EVERYONE else kind of SUCKS and isn't worth using for the final dungeon. For those Giant Green Fly enemies the Chop Chop physical skill that costs 0 AP not only did I give it to Nina but it WILL kill those instantly with 1 use of it.
I guess, but I enjoy leveling them anyway just for fun. Let's be honest, it didn't take long to do at all! Who cares? [Edited later to add: arguably, leveling Sten is more useful than leveling Katt for the final dungeon, if you intend to collect every treasure in Infinity but don't plan to actually use Katt in the final battles.] Please don't get me wrong: I appreciate the engagement, but I am often left wondering if you actually watch these videos or if you just make random comments somewhat related to the title or something. You do know I've used ChopChop on those flies every...single...time...I've fought them, right? XD
Yes I do but since I gave that skill to Nina not to Ryu I kept her in the party to make sure its always useable but I'll only lv up the party members I'll actually use for the final dungeon itself to lv 50 to lv 60 and for me that's Ryu Nina Rand and Bleu only. Sten for in battle use is pure crap so I won't ever use him for Infinity at all.
It honestly doesn't seem like you watch most of the time, which is why I asked. Most of what you comment are things I clearly demonstrate that I already know about. I bet I could offer you advice in these games that you didn't know about sometimes (especially since I've had to correct misinformation from you a few times). Fair warning, every time you leave a comment that seems like you've completely ignored what I've done in the accompanying video, I'm probably going to continue calling you out on it, since it seems like you always tell me things I already know and that's a weird thing for a commenter to do. :) If you'd actually watched all the way through, you know very well you come across as parroting a lot of what I already say/do in these videos. Sometimes I've already explained the thing you write about in significant detail, and then you come in writing a comment as if I'm doing that thing for the first time. It's a weird mix of strange and entertaining and tone deaf. XD I gave ChopChop to Ryu because outside of the Chorkings, it's a useless ability to me. It serves me much more use putting it on Ryu since he can't leave the party, so my ability to kill them never left the party either. The only real benefit to giving it to Nina is to offset her crappy attack stat, but since I don't use her to attack outside of grinding levels, it becomes useless for her. I'm only casting with her on battles that present any difficulty. I have fun using everyone a little bit, gives me more fun and entertainment than just using a single party the entire game, basically, so it worked out better for me in that sense. There's nothing wrong with your approach, but it didn't match my gameplay style in this playthrough. My choice made more sense for the approach I took. Sten is still more useful to get to 50 for the endgame than Katt, if we're talking purely about utility at the end of the game. There's no need to use Katt at the end at all. :) You're bizarrely focused on him being "crap" in battle even though he's not that bad and there's basically zero reason to use Katt except that she does pretty good physical damage output. If you want to get all the treasures in Infinity, you need him, so either suck it up or skip those treasures, that's basically your choice.
The reason I gave Chop Chop to Ninja not Ryu is because unlike you by games end I'll spam the final Dragon spell for 999 damage every other turn for boss fights that why I'd rather give it to anybody else so I used Nina for it but yes for in battle use I find Sten not really worth it his spells are crap and he kind of takes MORE physical hits damage then Katt does.
Yeah, I only use the Gold Dragon a couple times in each of the final fights, I definitely don't abuse it and spam it to win that quickly, but it's not necessary for me to do that in the first place. My party this time around ended up around level 62 at the end, so it was pretty easy to win. & OK, there's still nobody disputing some of what you keep repeating...but you NEED to use Sten in Infinity...there's no need to use Katt. Again, I'm merely pointing out that it's more worth your time leveling Sten than Katt, especially if you don't plan to use Katt in your final party, just to make traversing Infinity a little easier for collecting the final treasure. For some reason though, you seem to be stuck in an argument with nobody about Sten's combat abilities. :)
About that the EXP boosting Recipes like the 20% food one at the start of the game are ONLY On the X box 360 version the SAME recipe on the PS3/PS4 remaster REPLACED the Exp boost of that recipe WITH a ATTACK boost so on the PS3/PS4 remaster theirs really no easy way to do this IF AT all. The again ALL the broken recipes/Factors in this game are ONLY on the X box 360 version the PS3/PS4 remaster got rid of nearly ALL of it.
Yes, I explain all of this quite clearly if you watched the video XD I explain how I had to accept the much lower XP boost compared to the original game since they nerfed it.
IT sucks but at the same time you can't get your defense stats high enough so that Etheral Queen at lv 255 on earth mode does 0 damage per hit/per spell eithe.r
Well, fortunately, that was never my goal, so it doesn't really matter to me, but kudos to those who went to the effort for that, I guess. I was just curious about looking into leveling faster and realized that it is what it is in the remaster -- can't abuse it a whole lot. No big deal! It probably wouldn't have been as much fun steamrolling every fight...at some point it just takes away from the fun, I'd imagine. Knocking out some more of this game on Twitch this evening. Hoping to get to the postgame tonight!
I used the same party BUT for the best ending you can not use the FULL party Dragon summons since you must kill the Eyeball bosses and not the HUMAN boss at this point for that ending the best dragons would hit all enemies on screen.
That's cool if you have a consistent party you use. If mine randomly ended up the same as your party of choice, that's funny, but I have no consistency to any party composition, generally speaking. It's usually pretty random based on whoever is the lowest level at the time, hahah. Not sure how much you actually watched of this video based on this comment, since it was pretty evident that I knew the mechanics of the boss fight. It's not just dragon attacks, you should really avoid all multi-target attacks in general in that fight (though, it's fine as long as he doesn't die, technically). But okay: for quick clarification for anyone reading this who happens to be seeking out the best ending to the game in these random comments in this random video: there's a fight in this video where you encounter a human hooked up to a machine with three floating machine eyes surrounding him. The game allows you to target all of them, including the human, but if you watch this video, you will note that I specifically avoid targeting the human with any attacks, instead focusing on the other targets. Doing this unlocks the "best" ending out of the three possible endings of the game, and allows your city (Township) to gain the ability to fly. It's pretty obvious watching the video, but there was no way I was going to pass that up!
The only hard part is getting the SINGLE Target Magic attacks in the form of actual items to use for the fight but yes my final party is usually of Ryu Rand Nina Kat and Blue all at least lv 50.
Oh, interesting, I didn't even bother with any magic attacks for that fight -- melee worked well enough that it wasn't necessary for me in this case (especially being leveled to 40-41 at this point). I can see it being more useful for people who don't take the time to level as much as I did by this point. I suppose once I'm at the end of the game and need to pick a party to go into Infinity with, I tend to pick from the names you mentioned over any of the other ones. Rand is an obvious choice, Katt can do some heavy melee damage herself, and it's hard to pass up the two most versatile casters.
Well the only hard part is getting rid of the EYE that ONLY restores HP to all 3 and it uses those spells every turn and even at lv 40 I kind of had normal physical hits do LESS damage then the HP restore spells that eye uses EVERY turn so that HP restore eye must die first the one that uses Flame to hit the ENTIRE party every turn must die after the HP restore one does. Since you can only use 4 party members at once while I had Ryu Rand Katt Blue and Nina all lv 50 by games end I ditched Katt since her max MP kind of sucks. Once Ryu gets the 999 damage Dragon Summon I made sure to have enough of the restore 99 AP items to use on him in order to SPAM it until the last dungeon bosses die from it the DRAGON boss that KILLS Ryu and Bow at the START of the game half way through THAT battle IN the FINAL dungeon the boss offers to fight it SOLO at lv 99 with Ryu do NOT do that the fight is practically winnable with Ryu SOLO at lv 99 so still fight IT with a FULL party and not solo. While Sten is useful for the final dungeon to take shortcuts to reach the end of it he still is CRAP for in battle use but half way through Infinity your party members will be defused of their Shaman Fusions at the end of a LONG cut scene when that happens warp OUT of the final dungeon to refusion the Shamans for Randy Nina/Katt, Blue/Ryu don't use any.
Oh, it wasn't hard at all to get rid of any eye for me XD it was pretty easy to just melee all of them without issue until they were all dead. No problem here! Again, maybe for someone who didn't take the time to level like I did...but kind of useless advice for my situation/party. Yeah, I'd probably ditch Katt in the final party too, but less because of her max AP (why would you use Katt for her spells in the first place?) and more because of her lack of Defense/HP compared to her utility in battle. The casters do tend to outdo her in the end. I'm probably not going to bother leaning into using Ryu's strongest dragon forms a whole lot, so I probably won't bother getting AP items to prep for the situation you suggest. It's easier, sure, but I'm planning to level enough that it shouldn't make enough of a difference. Agreed that there's really no benefit to fighting that one boss solo as Ryu. I think the game presents it to you as a fun challenge, but since you don't get anything out of it, why would you bother? XD Oh, I never use Sten in Infinity. He's "fun" to use sometimes...I guess. But definitely not one of my favorites, even though I'll probably level him some more anyway... Oh, don't worry about me running Infinity -- like everything else in this game (if you've been paying any attention), it's old hat for me at this point. There's nothing you can tell me that I don't already know about in this entire game, pretty much...but maybe someone can get something from the rest of that. :) One point of clarification for anyone not in the know -- it's not that you "shouldn't" combine Ryu/Bleu with any Shamans -- but more that you can't. They just don't fuse with anyone...but that's because they're both a little OP in their own way and don't really need it. XD
However after lv 40 or so those giant monsters start to be worth crap for exp Besides the K Sludges but those have MORE then 999 HP and when it uses their Death spell it always WORKS and you fight at least 3 of them at once.
Nah, they aren't worth "crap" for XP after 40 -- it takes more to level up, so it takes longer, sure, but they still aren't bad (I've done it before). Especially if you're using an emulator to speed through fights like this, then it's kind of irrelevant at that point and they work just fine. I'll probably still use that place to level up later in the game. And yes, I mentioned the little gold slimes (maybe in the part after this) -- [edited later to correct one thing that isn't true: you absolutely CAN encounter fewer than three in a battle; proof of this is in pt.9] I'm pretty clear about my inability to handle them easily at a lower level like in this part from a week or so ago, but I noted they give even better XP than the other guys. Can still work with them with no issues using an emulator if I feel like it down the road though. Just waiting to get more shamans before I dump more time into leveling since it's unnecessary at this point. :)
ya, characters vary in how fast they lvl up (how much exp needed for lvling up) Bow and Katt require the least exp to lvl up Rand, Ryu, Jean, nina, and bleu/deis, and maybe spar too, require a lot of exp to lvl up, though maybe a few of them would be more in the middle of how much exp they need to lvl up, meh (too lazy to look it up for exact exp-lvlup tier placement) sten, and maybe nina, bleu/deis, and spar, too, are in the middle roughly ryu, being the main character (usually forced, but a few times, you're without ryu too), usually has the highest clvl (aside from Katt and/or Bow, depending on if and how much you use them), despite that he takes quite a lot of exp to lvl up and bleu/deis also starts at the highest clvl, ~ 35-ish, so that reduces a bit of exp needed for her too, but not too much, as of course lower/earlier clvls take less exp than later/higher clvls
Oh, I forgot this comment was here at some point. Yes, if you watch the video, I clearly acknowledge the difference in XP requirements. I knew it, but it's been a solid 10-20 years since I played the game, so the refresher was helpful. But in the end, if you keep watching, you'll see that it doesn't really matter to me what the XP requirement is for anyone -- my habit in this game is to level everyone equally (up to a point). Watch and see that I'm probably more of a veteran to this game than most of my viewers -- even you, probably. (:
For those who caught the end, I tried a fix but am not sure it worked. There's a more reliable option, but requires me to start the save over -- so I'm probably going to do that tomorrow. Will probably stream part 2 afterwards, tomorrow evening, so...continuing this soon!
Best rpg EVER
Awesome job! No counselor deaths and over half the children remaining! Friday the 13th is such a great game, but it's so misunderstood, probably due to how complicated it is. Once you figure it out there, it's one of the best the NES has to offer!
This game gets a TON of undue hate!
hello raj
We like playing retro games like this. Tune in more often if you enjoyed! Thanks for watching!
I remember playing this all too much as a kid.
We like playing retro games like this. Tune in more often if you enjoyed! Thanks for watching!
Because of Hard mode you MAY need TO use Lucent barrier to NOT DIE against the Mana beast in 1 to 2 hits even WITH the grand palace armors equipped.
No need -- the Midge Hammer works just fine. If we wanted to go the 'legit' route and take every single hit, we would have spent time getting better gear than the slightly outdated Grand Palace gear, anyway. Plus, Lucid (not Lucent) Barrier tends not to be worth the MP cost, especially on Hard Mode. We just wanted to finish the game. We hope you enjoyed watching!
But their is no better BUYABLE then the Grand Palace armors that's why farming the pure land/final dungeon armor DROPS even at lv 99 on NORMAL mode isn't actually worth it. But the Midge Hammer won't negate that 500+ damage you still took Lucid Barrier on Hard mode I believe still CAN.
Nobody said you can buy better gear. But you can absolutely find better gear in the Mana Fortress -- that's what I was referring to. We chose not to spend time doing that because it was unnecessary. Again, the Grand Palace armor is super old news for us at this point, especially since we already replaced about half of it. Nobody cares about it anymore at this point in the game, if you're still somehow unclear about that, hahah. Did you even watch? The Midge Hammer completely negated the damage, so it was clearly much more worth it than casting Lucid Barrier.
About that the Mana Fortress Armors almost NEVER drop/the pure lands one almost NEVER do either so I still used the Grand Palace armors for the rest of the game but you still need to lower the final bosses 800+ damage to less then 500 on Hard mode else that 800+ damage CAN be instant kills hence the need to keep Lucid Barrier lv 8 on the entire party at all times.
Yes, they're the best armor in the game -- of course they've got a low drop rate, what else would you expect? That's partly why we didn't bother getting them, we just got lucky in replacing half the older gear anyway. Nah, hard disagree on the Lucid Barrier. Absolutely not worth it on Hard Mode unless you know you can get more walnuts in the near future. In Hard Mode you need to be much more cognizant of MP than in normal mode, so choosing to keep that active at all times would actually work more against you instead of helping you. You need to conserve the walnuts or it's a death sentence in certain parts of the game. Lowering enemies' damage was pointless beyond a certain point where we were; the Mana Beast wasn't one-shotting us, so it would have been two-shot kills regardless -- if we did take the hits...but like I said, we used the Midge Hammer on the final fight. All part of our decision to ignore putting effort into getting the better armor, even though we did inadvertently find some of it anyway. I apologize if this comes across the wrong way, but I suggest actually watching the gameplay (or heck, just asking what armor we have if you don't feel like watching) before continuing to comment somewhat outdated/irrelevant advice on these (anyone watching these knew we bought the last set of buyable armor 5-6 parts ago, understands what a struggle MP is in Hard Mode, etc. -- see what I'm saying?); if you pay any attention, you'll understand why we decided on the course of action we did. Our gameplay and our win in the game speaks for itself. We chose from the start to play the game a certain way (save states and making use of exploits like the Midge Hammer) for many reasons, including our age, the small amount of time we have to game together, the fact that I'm streaming/recording our gameplay (who wants to watch us grind for hours?), etc. If your commentary seemed more relevant to what we were actually doing, and acknowledged the context of what we're dealing with in Hard Mode, it would be much more appreciated.
You still NEED the 500,000 gold worth of the Grand Palace's ARMORS WITHOUT ANY NOT only will the PURE Lands normal enemies and bosses hit for 600 + and 700+ for the bosses so WILL the FINAL dungeon normal enemies/bosses and the final dungeon has NO save points in it AT all. But hard mode requires a HACK of the game but the SNES and PS4 remaster ONLY have a NORMAL mode where WITHOUT the Grand Palace armors everything the the Pure Lands/Mana Fortress will do 600+ damage.
At this point the average person would have to be wondering if you are just copying and pasting that line about the gold and the Grand Palace...but why? XD There was never a point where we indicated we didn't intend to buy them -- in fact, we did buy them as soon as we could. We were already fully decked out in the new gear before you even wrote your first comment about it. Why do you keep repeating it when we already did it a long time ago? If you're trying to warn random viewers who have never played the game before and are looking at the comments on my videos for tips, then hopefully you've helped someone prepare for the dangers of the Pure Lands, I guess. Otherwise, I was merely observing that Hard Mode makes it so upgrading armor has a slight bit of irrelevancy -- it helps, and we still upgraded it all, but to some extent it comes down to this: taking 500 damage per hit, versus 300 per hit, when you have 600 HP, still equals getting killed in 2 hits. Nobody is disputing that upgrading gear is still useful, and we did indeed do that since it would be pretty silly not to do so when we easily can...so can we just agree we're on the same page instead of repeating the same back and forth about the Grand Palace ad nauseum? None of what I'm writing should be a secret if you're actually watching the videos.
For Hard mode a lv 8 Lucent Barrier MUST be in effect to avoid being killed in 2 hits even with the Grand Palaces armors luckily for me I'll NEVER play mods/hacks of games and the SNES/PS4 version ONLY has NORMAL mode only.
You have fun with normal mode, I'm glad you enjoy that! We enjoy the challenge of Hard Mode and haven't been having any issues, so no need for any advice -- we're good, which you can surely tell if you've been watching. Not worth the extra MP cost for Lucid Barrier in our opinion. :) I hope you have been enjoying!
at least you're getting engagement lmao @@shade_rpg
XD You're right, of course -- I did express thanks for that at some point. But after the 6th or 7th comment saying roughly the same thing, I HAD to ask...still unclear. :(
You MUST spend the 500,000+ on ALL the grand palace armors without ANY of them a lv 60 party will take over 600+ damage a HIT OVER 700 in 1 hit from EVERY boss here.
Yes, that's why we made sure to do exactly that before going to the Pure Lands. You realize we're playing hard mode, though, right? The armor only makes so much of a difference. We have the best armor we possibly can at this point. :) Trust me, we know what we're doing, and like I've mentioned, I've beaten Hard Mode with my brother before. Everything is significantly more difficult than a normal run through the game. Since this session, I've leveled us from 67 > 75 and got a better helmet drop for the hero, so we're going into the final Pure Lands fight in great shape! We'll be playing pt.19 and finishing the Pure Lands tonight (Oct. 12) -- like last time, feel free to come watch us on Twitch later, otherwise the upload should hit my channel tomorrow.
About that the game normally for this one doesn't even HAVE a Hard mode to begin with but on normal mode without those armors everything would do 600+ damage at lv 60, 700+ for bosses in the Pure lands the Mana Fortress enemies on normal mode would also do the same 600+ damage. About that helm drop even on Normal mode/SNES version only I could hit lv 99 from lv 60 and NOT get a SINGLE Griffin Helm drop at all.
Obviously it normally doesn't have a hard mode. We were very clear about this from the get-go, if you watched part 1 of the series...plus basically every gameplay starts with the unique splash screen about it. Are you suggesting I was trying to hide it or we're doing something inappropriate? :P Again about the gear -- is there an invisible commenter arguing with you or something? Hahah -- we are more than well-enough leveled in terms of XP, spells, and gear, and have been essentially every step of the way (or stopped to train if we had no choice). This has been pretty clear in all of our videos. If you're seeing something I'm not, where we skipped out on upgrading out gear at a crucial point, you're going to have to help me out and link it. Otherwise you're going to have to help me understand the point of repeating the same point in nearly every comment you write. Am I missing something? I do appreciate your engagement, but let's keep the discussion moving instead of getting hung up on gear that we are already trying to replace with the best gear in the game!
All these armors cost at least 500,000 in total I had that much LV 60 here before entering the grand palace.
Well, we didn't want to overdo it too much since we only have so much time -- but we're lv.66 now, heading into the Pure Lands tonight -- so we're still in good shape! Nothing to worry about. :)
By the time I had lv 7 or lv 8 spells I had party members around lv 60+ with at least 500,000 gold you NEED THAT MUCH to buy ALL the Grand Palace armors don't attempt the PURE Lands the 2nd to last dungeon WITHOUT those equipped else even the NORMAL enemies in the Pure Lands can do OVER 600 damage IN 1 HIT killing even a lv 60 party IN that 1 hit and bosses without those are even more Lethal.
I've beaten this before with my brother, so thankfully I know what to expect -- thus my warning to Raj in our latest session (part 17 as of writing this) before we head to the Pure Lands. Funny enough, speaking of lv.60, during my downtime today, I got us from 52 to 60, finished gearing us out from the Grand Palace, and got solid work done on our weapon levels, so we're in pretty good shape now. We have had lv.7 spells almost since we could get them, but cannot get lv.8 spells just yet -- that's post-Pure Lands. We're probably playing again tomorrow night and will likely take the Pure Lands on. I might do more leveling during my downtime before we jump into it, but we'll see what I have time for. It'll be part 18, 4 parts ahead of this one you commented on -- feel free to come watch us on Twitch tomorrow night, or wait until Wednesday for that upload to hit my channel. Thanks for commenting!
For weapon lvs the lv 6 to lv 8 weapons ARE worth making the actually killing 100+ enemies PER weapon lv after weapon charge lv 5 isn't really worth it though spells for all 8 lvs however are.
Agreed, the weapon levels are mostly irrelevant at higher levels, but it's been super easy to level them anyway, so it doesn't really hurt anything to do so. Yes, spells are absolutely more useful at lv.8!
my fav childhood game. sadly no one to coop back then. check out Secret of Evermoore too!
Thanks! My brother is gone now, but I always had him and my buddy Raj -- who is the other person in this video -- to play with. So for us, it's definitely a blast from the past and hitting those nostalgia feels. I'm not sure if Raj has played Secret of Evermore, but there IS a coop mod for that, so I'll suggest the idea to him -- there's a SOLID chance we'll jump into that at some point! Thanks for the comment!
Thought it might be worth the follow-up: we started up the 2P Secret of Evermore mod I mentioned. Just uploaded part 1. Check it out!
Woah, im your 2nd viewer. I believe you might've viewed after publishing.
Interesting, since in my analytics, it shows 1 view, 1 comment (which is actually pretty unusual for an FF7 upload to be so low, but it happens). Even if I had viewed it, I'm not sure why it matters, though. :)
24:45 Sync points are always safe, silly. :P 26:57 Yup! It sucks! Although as you've seen by now, it gets a little better. 27:44 The problem with me going back to these is by now you know all the answers to these questions lol 33:52 Those branches of the skill tree weren't in the base game. They were added in a title update. When you open the skill tree after that update it points them out to you.
IDK if you guys are into games like this. I recommend you try out Fling to finish. You can play it as 1v1(much more difficult, but once you get used to it, it becomes simpler), or you can even play it co-op(easier to play and control, but still fun). Operation Tango is also a fun Co-op game.
Thanks for the suggestions, I'll keep them in mind when we're looking for something new to do!
UA-cam, you nailed it with this recommendation! Gunfire is pure nostalgia for me.
Your channel is underrated. I binged watched all episodes of this game at 2x speed. I enjoy your chill content and hope you get better viewership.
Wow! This is one of the nicest comments I have ever received. I truly appreciate the genuine feedback! I am grateful for the insight into the ambiance that my buddy Raj and I are able to apparently create for viewers when we play this game. If you watched them all, that's several dozen videos at this point -- thank you so much!
Hello. Could you explain what is new in this mod, please? Do you have more mods? Where I can download them?
The source website for the mod will give you better answers than I can: www.ff7.live I purposely haven't looked at every single change/update since I am hoping to be pleasantly surprised a few times. I do not know anything about any other mods. This is the only one I am using.
@@shade_rpg Thank you for the answer.
