Everything You Need to Know About 18650 DIY Battery Packs
And why you need to acquire a few as well! I outline 15 main points in this general overview of some of my gear. If you're looking to build your own, here are some great tips and tricks and things to avoid or look for.
I should make a slight correction that the blue kit completely failed testing in multiple ways. It required sort of a "jump start" to operate correctly. Adding batteries live caused an unusual burning smell. It just wouldn't operate consistently or turn on charging when the button is hit. The red enclosure was AMAZING in testing though!

What Cookware Should You Use in Your Survival Kit?
Переглядів 2718 місяців тому
A lot of people grab whatever is on sale off the shelf and call it good when it comes to emergency preparedness and survival cookware. I looked hard to see if someone said this already, gave up eventually: Movie Trivia, the .44 Magnum speech belongs to mister Dirty Harry, aka Clint Eastwood, after his "did I shoot 5 times or 6" line. John Wayne would've been sending boomer's dads to get a colt or bolt.

    A sabot is the plastic casing enclosing a slug for rifled barrel sluggun...the slug you showed was just a regular "rifled slug" its called that because the rifling is on the slug itself (less accurate, acts like a knuckleball floating every which way)...a sluggun has the rifling in the barrel (way more accurate grouping is tighter, can even put multiple slugs in sams hole)...slugguns are only for sabot slugs only, birdshot will damage the rifling in the barrel. Shooting a sabot slug thru a smooth bore "shotgun" will act like a knuckleball and float everywhere...right slug in the right gun will do crazy damage at 200+ yards (sabot slug in a rifled barrel) a rifled slug out of a smooth bore will be lucky to be accurate that far out..."right round in right shot/sluggun can do just bout anyhing you need it to" is what I live by

    Wow, I haven't seen those with 20 parallel cells. With so many paralleled cells, a short will have the potential to burn the whole thing in seconds. Could you imagine putting cells in, and when you are up to cell #19, you suddenly put cell #20 in reverse by mistake? High-tech fireworks I would call it, lol. About charging to the weakest cell in the pack, it is not completely correct. The weakest battery will not have enough power to raise the voltage of the others enough to make the circuit "think" that it is fully charged, precisely because it is the weakest and all are in parallel. The more cells in parallel, the less possible such behavior is, and the voltage level will remain average among all cells, slowly rising up while charging. Remember that the only way for the circuit to "know" is the voltage level. With time, a damaged cell will also be a hazard. The current of all parallel cells will drain into any single cell with leaks or a short, making it extremely hot until it bursts, making it a real fire hazard. That is why, for example in my eBike, with so many parallel-series cells, each cell is protected with a fuse. Also, cells are spring-connected, not welded. First, movement may cause sparks under high loads, and second, high loads may heat the springs because of the natural resistance of spring materials. All these scenarios are worse if the cells have high-discharge capacity, like 10C, 20C, etc. Interesting video though. Thank you for it :)

    • @sirseriously
      @sirseriously Місяць тому

      @@EmergencySurvivalTips it will drain the cells below their functional cutoff. I lost 12 good Samsung cells because I didn't charge it for a few months and the cells went to 0 volts (no BMS/ under/over voltage protection). I haven't had the same issue with the larger ones so far *knock on wood*

    Where do you recommend purchasing these small set-ups ? Also can I buy AC charging battery packs ?

    • @EmergencySurvivalTips
      @EmergencySurvivalTips Місяць тому

      AliExpress or ebay are the best, unfortunately. As for AC charging ones, they drop to DC anyway via a transformer but none really come to mind. Just get a mid-level USB charger cube that only does 5 volts, not fast charge, and then get that $18 xtar charger and just plug the USB into the charger cube at the wall.

    I used to vape a lot (to quit smoking) and 18650 batteries were used in the vapes. Not every battery is made equal. You can pay extra for higher quality batteries but i assume the difference is minor if you're just powering a phone charge or a light.

    • @EmergencySurvivalTips
      @EmergencySurvivalTips Місяць тому

      The big thing with vapes are running several hundred watt coils and that's hard to do at 4.2 volts. Those Murata batteries can do like 50 amps or something ridiculous like that and low end, off the shelf ones can do like 4 amps sometimes. Well 4x4.2v = not a lotta watts. But for 22 watts of fast charge using 8 cells in parallel, all adding amps cumulatively, you can put basically anything in them.

    I'm firmly convinced that the solar panel producers have the entire youtube community paid off. If I drive through the surrounding countryside here all I see are wind turbines, yet nobody can say a good word about installing a turbine. The amount of fear mongering utter bullshit is astounding. I know it's windy here and not so sunny in the winter especially. I'm on my own here and ok,with that.

    Can you recommend an inverter for use with a deep freeze (compressor) so I don't burn it out. It's a 10 cu-ft R600 that draws 1.4A/130 W. Don't want to break the bank. If it has a volt meter built in to monitor the battery that would be a bonus, but not required.

    Very well done! Thank you for posting! I’ve finally found the information I’ve been looking for. We have a Tesla Solar and Powerwall setup. We are in sunny southern CA so adding wind in a residential area doesn’t make sense. Can you post a detailed video analyzing the different wind turbines that include ridge version that utilizes a roofline?

      I probably could if I've ever installed them. That's the part I'm not as familiar with compared to the electrical components and the math. Last I heard the vertical ones with short blades that look like cylinders are the best for consistency in low wind but there are people that know A LOT more about it than I do.

    The harbor freight generators are rock solid based off the on we use. Ran for a week without an oil change running fridges and freezers during the derashio for a freind of mine. Worse case it resets the timer on stuff going bad. If it makes you uncomfortable after an event, use the warranty and exchange it.

    I prefer the .22LR pistol over the 9mm. The .22LR ammo can be used in my .22LR revolver, .22LR semi-automatic, and my .22LR rifle. An AR-15 in 5.56 NATO can also use .223 ammo. And with my .22LR conversion I can also use .22LR ammo. A 20-gauge pump shotgun also is useful. My first consideration is personal defense with hunting and SHTF coming in close second. Cheaper ammo means I feel better about frequent practice. If you aren't proficient with your weapon, it doesn't do you much good to have it!

    How many rounds had you fired in your session with that Winchester? I can think of a way you could do it without trying. Just shooting a lot of rounds really quickly could lead to chamber pressure being high enough to get a round super sonic. Did I hear a 22 1911, I would be happy, probably not for long, but I would be happy.

    The bullet is called the projectile. And you are missing one of the best ammo choices made the 10mm. Because you left out the 10mm and you called the projectile a bullet witch it is but most people that deal with firearms and ammo call it a projectile I'm going to guess everything you've going to say has come from a Google search. Auto loading pistols is the action if it's not a revolver it's a auto not full auto. I should have watched the video before commenting but I noticed a couple mistakes before the first 3 minutes I had to address.

    • @EmergencySurvivalTips

      No English speaker on this planet calls the bullet the projectile and NOBODY wants 10mm guns because they're just 45 ACP but metric and less common. It's also about 2% more lethal in the real world, single shot, against a human than 9mm.

    Upset stomach and diarrhea have so many causes that antibiotics could just as much kill off beneficial gut flora as do anything helpful, or nothing if the cause was norovirus. For cholera specifically, oral rehydration solution with both salts and sugars is common treatment but the solution has to be prepared carefully or it risks exacerbating the diarrhea.
