PCB Repair and Hot Air Station Review

In this video, I am repairing a PCB for a Lincoln electric engine driven welder. The damage was actually from me un-potting the circuit board. I had un-potted the Board to reflow the processor. I removed the silicone using heat and mechanical means, but that also means I accidentally knocked a zener diode off of the board. found the Zener diode ordered them, and this video is me installing the...

This SA 200 came in as a no start. Customer replaced ignition coil trying to get it to start. They put the wires on the coil backwards but that wasn’t the main problem. The main problem was that it has been sitting for a long time outside and it got moisture inside the exhaust rusting the exhaust valves leading to no compression on 3 cylinders. We used penetrating oil and transmission fluid alo...

Appreciate you!
We appreciate y’all as well!
Thanks. Dealing with a rusted one right now.
That WILL happen. Do yourself a future favor. Put a little on.. 😁🤌✌️
@@TealArcAuto I like to listen to smarter men than me. Any way to get this thing out without power tools? Whole lot of trial and error?
@@Jojofosho13 what year make and model are you working on? In general I would say spray penetrating oil on them and then run the engine until operating temperature is reached. Nice and hot. That will expand the spark plug hole of the cylinder head slightly allowing for easier removal. Even with spraying penetrating oil and having the engine hot it might still be labor intensive depending on how rusted it is. If it is real bad then I recommend all the previous steps PLUS loosening the plug about a half turn then tightening it a quarter turn and keep doing that till you got it out. Kind of a two steps out and one back in.
@TealArcAuto great advice, appreciate your time!
@@Jojofosho13 no problem if you need any more help, don’t hesitate to comment again
Unknown thing here is that just new head gasket may not fix it. It probably is warped head from overheated block. Which means the entire engine must come off, skim the head block to be sure its flat and then head gasket replacement. Also there is a risk that if assembled, not all bolts are evenly tightened and this thing will repeat itself in few years.... I am in similar predicament. I have 3.0 S Quattroporte with 410hp (~64000 miles when i bought the car). And my head gasket leak is lesser than this, fluid turns green. I bought the car used few months back. I am now in talks with the car dealer (not official Maserati dealer), that this was hidden flaw. Made the pre purchase check in Maserati dealer also, where it was noted that coolant tank was empty (which was weird to me and had a bad feeling). There were also rusted coolant pipes on the list and thought, they may just leak. I still went ahead with a purchase and filled the coolant tank up and checked first 3 weeks, no change to see. Thought it was fine. Then after 3 months, the coolant tank was empty again- then I ordered that same CO2 fluid tester and in 1 minute that fluid turn green. So I contacted the dealer who sold it. Now hoping to get all my money back or them to cover the cost of total engine rebuild.

I have problem with my miller 225 I put 7 voltage is to cold if I put 8 is to hot can you help me out thanks
I made a quick video. I’m going to be uploading it soon and I will tag you in it. Keep a lookout for it.
Do u have a Manuel of tear down
We do not have a tear down manual. Is there any part we can help you with? If you are having trouble getting it apart, let us know what you’re having trouble with and maybe we can walk you through it
Hey buddy am in hobbs new mexico you said you were in Midland tx right?? I need my carb rebuild asap can i have a contact number or anything see if you wanted to do it for me?? Thanks give me an answer when you can
I believe I talk to you on the phone ordered out if not, give me a holler and we’ll see what we can do.
@@TealArcAuto i emailed you brotha my floater is getting stuck i believe is the problem i can use a new choke cable also
Very classy put your own spin on sexy on that thing and it’s it’s turned out beautiful nice job
I can't take credit. A buddy of mine built that one. She's pretty.
Where would you start if there was not a leak? I see a leak coming from my water pump, but I also feel like it could be somewhere else as well. I’m assuming right now. I should just replace the thermostat water pump and probably the radiator, but there are two of them so I’m just looking to avoid that.
I would pressure test it. Pump it up to 30 psi (I know that is above the cap's rating but it will definitely show you where the leaks are at that pressure and might also find another weak spot in the system that you would have otherwise found while driving down the road, and trust me that would suck) and see where its spraying from. If the water pump leak is bad enough you might not see any other leaks till you replace the water pump and pressure test it again afterwards.
Which number wire goes on which terminal.
Check the diagram and read it carefully while looking at the switch to determine which terminal is which.
Can you make a video saying what the wire numbers are on the switch terminals that you replaced?
I could make another video showing that, but it would be a while before it got uploaded. I have hundreds of hours of footage that still needs to be edited and uploaded. On the plus side, the diagram on the door of the machine shows which wire goes to which terminal or the owners manual does as well. You can download it from miller's website.
Looks pretty good to me bruh. Aluminum stick is hard and it's nasty, get a repirator or fan, or outside with a breeze. But you're doing good for just a beginner.😅
lol Much appreciated
Where are you guys located?
Midland, TX Off of Cottonflat. Google us!
Ran a chopped 200 in west tx for years never had a problem if it’s done right there shouldn’t have any issues.
Amen. I met a friend after filming this video that does them beautifully. Still gotta loosen or remove the fuel tank to do anything on the back of the front panel, there just isn’t any room after a chop.
I plugged in the 12vs X-treme suitcase welder. For the wire settings I was only getting 13 volts. I should be getting 17--28 volts. With getting lower voltage could it be the switch or could there be another underlying problem? I cant look at it now, Its getting looked at by my dad who's an electrician.
Are you getting 13v regardless where the rheostat is set? Is the voltage higher at high idle? The suitcase won’t adjust the voltage higher? With the suitcase I wanna say you dont need it in the wire setting. You need it in a stick setting. If you had a 70 series feeder then you would put it in the wire setting and plug the control cable into the remote receptacle. The suitcase used constant current to power and weld itself I believe. The 70 series uses ac voltage from the remote receptacle to power itself but needs constant voltage to weld so you would keep it in the wire setting for that feeder. But like I said that X-treme should be in a stick (cc) setting I believe
So we tried every setting we could play with in the 225G. Stuck/tig we played with all those settings, we changed the polarity on the Leads. When we adjusted the course adjustment the volts did change but each result was the same. The wire would glow red when it made contact but no arc.
Good advice
Thank you!!
Cool set up. I have not worked on a board in years!
It's quite therapeutic at times..
Can you also please tell me if you have a line next to your gas cap is like 3/8 thick .mine is been cut and not connected to anything. Please and thanks.
It is not right next to the gas cap. If you open the trunk and pull out the carpet, there is a black shield made out of sheet metal that covers your filler neck going to the tank.. it is secured with rivets so you will have to punch them out and drill them out but once you get that black shield off, you’ll be able to see the nipple sticking off of the filler neck that that hose goes to.. let me know if you have any more questions
Are you sure is the right sending unit?mine is 79 and looks a lil different, only one tube on it.And on line said should 77 to 79 should be the same
Yep. It was the correct sending unit for my application.
Stay safe and stay healthy 🙏🏻 😊
You as well! Thank you!
Appreciate your help thank you enjoying your videos.
No problem. The next time I have a 225g plus I’ll try and do another video on it, maybe a longer video. But I thought that would help. Take it easy!
I put antisieze on all new plugs going in
I agree!
Just get NGK they have a coating so you dont need anti-seize, and its a better plug.
Yep some of them do depending on the application. I agree.

No lie 🤣. It’ll get better though!!
I'm a 3 yr noob of owning my own MiG and Tig machine I've been welding for 10 years with Miller and Lincoln in the time of welding the equipment was out of my budget for sure. I ended up getting a Chinese MiG 255 from Amazon with in a yr of having it started to notice the abundance of welding machines flooded the market I bought a primeweld Tig 225x w/watercooler and a CK worldwide flex-loc torch FL-230 for under the 2k mark been running it hard for the last 2 1/2 yrs with no issues. I can't figure out what makes esab, Miller, Lincoln, Everlast so proud of there equipment.
I think a big part of it is the astronomical amounts of money they pay semiconductor manufacturers to make the parts for their machines proprietary. Electricity is not proprietary. Not worth it as a welder manufacturing company in my opinion. But hey, thats why they make the big bucks and we bust our knuckles for pennies. 🤷🏻
Ford is fix or repair daily or found on road dead. Toyota is much more reliable. Ford no longer makes parts for their cars in the factory in the USA they outsource most of them it overseas. And the quality and reliability has gone down hill. They have already had lots of problems with the new Broncos not to mention the ford exploder which has never really been a reliable or good car.Henry Ford would be appalled and ashamed at the poor quality control of ford. He’s rolling over in his grave. All car parts and repairs at dealerships are expensive not just ford.
I agree wholeheartedly. I used to work at a Toyota dealership and their vehicles are extremely reliable. Toyota lives by the motto “Kaizen”. It’s a business practice that continually improves all processes and involves all employees. Thank you for your comment!
Edit your film. Cameras do have off buttons. Push off, go to your next scene. Turn canera on. We're dizzy out here. Cmon man 🤮
Been editing videos more and more. Didn’t used to do much editing on shorts but I’ll be sure to note that walking with the camera can be disorienting to a small portion of viewers and do some editing on them. I appreciate the feedback. All criticism only serves to make my channel better. Thank you!
And the moral to the story is DONT BUY A FORD !!!!!
No-not the moral at all. 🙄
All dealerships have gotten Crazy like that But Ford has gone above and beyond on making things way over engineered.
No lie. I’m still not convinced that all the emissions equipment on newer diesels is offsetting our carbon footprint. Any idea how many hydrocarbons are burned mining the precious metals in a dpf/scr/cat?!?!
I got one for ya... Mouse chewed my fuel pump plug, go to parts store "Honda hasn't released the part for distribution" so i go to dealer. $670, im like what the f++k man its just a plug, "well we have to sell you the entire linkage. Girlfriend tracked it down online for $13...
Sounds about right! Maybe the dealerships should price match given the part in question is oem and not aftermarket. Would still be outrageous i bet.
That was for the entire wiring harness. Next time cut the connector out and bring it to the dealer. They'll have a book that lists connector repair kits. You match yours to the same connector in the book, and you can just buy that kit, and not the whole harness. You have to ask for it. Its very easy to make mistakes when looking up parts like this, so the people working in the parts department are told to give the customer exactly what they are asking for. They're not techs, so they can only go by the information you give them.
As long as you use the same diameter and length of hose you did a great job.
Thats pretty much how we feel. Thank you!
They don’t call ‘em “stealerships” for nothin’ now 🤣🤣
😂
Out right greed
I had a plastic T in my coolant system a while back. Ford wanted to sell me hoses along with the plastic T. I ended up getting a metal plumbing T, some band clamps, and some pipe dope. For less than $20, I fixed what Ford was going to charge me over $100 to replace. It's also got a more durable T now.
Yep. Doesn’t always have to be the same part as long as it meets or exceeds oem, right!? Lol
You should make a video 😂
@@furio5415 got plenty of them, its the editing I need to do. Checked out your channel and its blank. Why don’t you make a video? What keeps you from putting yourself out there? You should make a video. It’s fun! I appreciate the comment, take it easy!
Not an evap system. That hose assembly is for the turbo waste gate solenoid. It’s vacuum operated and is why it’s connected to the vacuum pump. It costs that much because it only can be ordered with a new solenoid and whole tube assembly.
Correct. Just realized I said EVAP system (wtf!?)on the short.. I apologize, thank you for the correction and clarification.
I did the same whit cables ford wanted me to pay 686 for the cluster cable from the starter to battery to start key ignition na iam good
I hear that!
@TealArcAuto by you tuber like you and my experience I have learned my way out not paying thousands thanks
Bidenomics 🤡💸💸💸
Maybe so. Maybe planned obsolescence is getting obsolete.
Ford dealerships charge $179 + parts and a pinch you fee. The reason why more people rather buy a new car or one with less miles is because the high cost of mechanics hourly rates these days
That is no lie, my friend. It will always be more economical to repair a vehicle that you don’t have a payment on than to repair a vehicle that you also have a payment on, provided it isn’t brand new with bumper to bumper warranty. I don’t blame them though. Skilled labor isn’t cheap and cheap labor isn’t skilled. 🤷🏻
I'd rather pay $1000 a year in repairs, then $500 a month on a new car.
@@bincockwell2610there’s a lot of people that need to hear this!
And that's exactly why I'm changing professions and learning to be a diesel mechanic lol
I made it on the lathe. I made it with aluminum square stock. Bore a hole the size of the light then cut in in half. Milled slots for the velcro strap and it obviously made two of them so I gave one to my brother, who is also a mechanic.
Where did u get that magnet Mount from!!??
That is no lie!
