For over twenty five years Jen and Dave had stressful jobs in the teaching profession, and felt trapped in the rat race by a large mortgage and a young family. In 2016 they decided that if they were ever to live the life that they dreamed of they needed to make changes. They sold their large town house, paid off their mortgage and bought a dilapidated wooden prefab in the countryside. The next five years were spent renovating the house and building a small art studio in the garden. In 2021 they were finally in a position where Dave could quit his job as a Deputy Headteacher and begin to build a business as an artist. They hope that in the near future Jen will be joining him and they can both live a life that they only dreamed of.

Blocking in accurate values is fundamental when making a still life oil painting. Watch as I demonstrate how I block in the main values and then begin to soften the edges. In response to a question that I received from one of my Patreons, I have made this video showing how I create the drawing on the canvas from the still life set up. I must stress that this is only one of the approaches that I take. I will often draw the set up directly onto the canvas without the use of the viewfinder and I sometimes refer to photographic reference during the drawing stage.

I searched through numerous videos and articles, but couldn't find it. The two oils I have on hand are flaxseed oil and gamsol.
