How is Olli getting on training wise, has he started scent imprinting yet?
Thank you really helped me start to think about what I need to do to become a SDH hope you and coops are OK too
We are all good man ✌🏻
thank you for information it’s very helpful
would you be able to make a video on how to get into the job i am really wanting to get into security dog handling and currently studying to get an animal care qualification i know i need an sia but i’m not 18 for a bit i was wondering if you had any tips on how you got into the industry and did you start off with other security work, thanks
I will do a response video for you that will be live Saturday ✌🏻
Just get your breakdown service out, they repair punches
Yes my German shepherd gets these grass seeds stuck to her a lot especially in my garden at home.
Hi I've just subscribed. As a female German shepherd owner I have been subjected to verbal abuse and I've had to muzzle my German shepherd as she is very protective of me and I don't wants to be held legally liable if she was to even bite in self defence of to protect me. Obviously I get this unwanted abuse because I'm a female and it's mostly verbal abuse of four letter words relating to my sexual orientation and gender. I was to be fair warned about this sort of abuse and harassment when I hurt my puppy but I stand against this abuse and want to reach out to other women about this abuse as it's unacceptable to discriminate or make assumptions of me just because of my choice of dog breed.
Definitely avoid the cheap ones, I have a eberspacher diesel heater and when I last took it in for servicing I was told an insurance company won’t pay if a Chinese one decides to set fire to your van.
It's printed on a police warrant card, which must be shown upon request. You're not MI6 buddy
So why don’t the police walk around with their names on show?
@@MichaelWakleySmith they do.........
Interesting great video! Ive just recently got a belgian malinois just wondering how you managed to get your dog to find your keys? Thanks!
I do have a first steps article search video - ua-cam.com/video/blvS0UEL5Pw/v-deo.htmlsi=YeC3G3b9q9_OZIdF Hopefully that will give you the idea of how it’s taught ✌🏻
Mobile Nasdu trainer would be perfect
Another good short, watched this whilst out working in Oman I must be one of the most distant watchers, 😂
Good to hear I’ve gone global 😂😂
Some times it’s good to give them a break from any training, then give them fun short stuff.
really good to watch this and get an insight into the job as i want to do this in the future your content is really handy and helpful
Hey Jack. Glad to hear you enjoy the content. Good luck with everything ✌🏻
Hi Michael, hope you are all doing well, would you or Terry know of any trainers in West Yorkshire i have my handler certificate just need help training the dog. been on the NASDU website and contacted them for my area but none are getting back to me, Willing to travel.
Hey man. I tried to put out a post to get recommendations, but there doesn’t seem to be any at the moment. I don’t have any first hand recommendations, but will keep my ear to the ground. ✌🏻
@@MichaelWakleySmith No problem mate, thanks for the help 👍 much appreciated.
Hey I'm a big fan of your channel I hope you feel better soon I was wondering Whats it really like being a Security Dog handler and how hard is it to get your NASDU please
The pass rate of the handler NASDU is pretty high. I’ve spoken to a lot of people who were worried about it and passed. It’s no harder than your SIA test. What it’s really like being a dog handler, less combative than everyone thinks, ideal if you enjoy training a dog and you can entertain yourself for long periods of time. Glad to hear you enjoy the content ✌🏻
Hope you feel better soon mate
Hi Michael, question... Iv just watched a vid of just stop oil breaking into an oil refinery that is guarded by a K9 unit. They climbed the fence and got over even with the dog unit trying to stop them the dog had little effect. Are security dog and handler units really that effective? Interested in your opinion.
I haven’t seen it for a while, but I know the video you’re talking about. That handler was in a tough situation, where there were peaceful protesters jumping a fence & nothing was going to stop them. The issue is that if there is no threat to your safety, in the laws eyes the dog is excessive force. Do I think the dog was the best I’ve seen at intimidating the protesters from breaking in, probably not, but I don’t think it would have stopped them anyway. His best bet was to do what he could to stop them getting over, until back up could arrive. There is an argument for putting the dog away & go hands on (using necessary force) to hold them in that area. If the group then began to threaten his safety, then the dog comes out. What he really needed was some workers to even out the numbers and help safely detain the protesters as they come over until the police arrived. So a tough one when you are so outnumbered and the law ties one hand behind your back..
As always well done , very helpful vid keep posting mate thank you
Excellent video was that, good to see someone just starting out. Makes me feel better knowing you dont have to know everything one the first day. Am starting my training in 2 weeks and was stressed that I would make a mistake. Thanks
Glad the video eased some concerns. Good luck with your training ✌🏻
Good start on what will be a long journey
As a cyclist I get chased by dogs once and awhile and outsprint them. Sprinted to 30mph and dropped a dog a couple weeks ago. The key is to anticipate the chase and gear up. Starting at a higher speed helps for sure.. then after the chase call the local dog warden and have them put the dog owner down
Cancel that just hear you say about the grass seeds
What’s wrong with his ears?
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
There was a criminal offence of violent disorder taking place with the police being vastly outnumbered. There are times when you have to take the fight forward instead of standing still. Dogs are a great tool for splitting a crowd and pushing it back. As Chip says, you have to give a hard response to win the fight. Having done the same type of work as a former police dog handler trust me the dogs are the best tool for clearing and moving a crowd that want to fight.
You’ve never been in a situation where you need to deal with it quick and hard. Sometimes the only language these idiots understand is a hard response At the end of the day, it is more of a visual and a Stop tactic. My cousin is a police Dog Handler and he says that is what they’re trying to do.
Only way you gonna learn if you get bitten the officer gave him enough warnings not sotough in front of his mates now
Very impressive mate, you’ve done a good job with coops! And great idea using the air tag!
Watch out for the lead paint bro
Great job cooper, picked up where he lost it last then onwards pursuit to find it a second time. Air tag my ring piece can't beat a K9 nose
Looks like an interesting site pal! Those bloody green things are a right nightmare! I feel your pain there!
I spent 10 years in the Royal Army Veterinary Corp, 23 years in the police, worked a police dog and a cadaver dog, now assess water search dogs ( drowned victims) in the UK and Australia but still learning from your videos. Keep it up
2014 Legislation Criminal Offence to cause Alarm & Distress, if you cause Alarm and Distress your licence is gone and so is your dog
Is this to do with this video? I just rewatched it and couldn’t see where this referred to? I understand the comment, but looking for the context in this video..
@@MichaelWakleySmith Hi Thank you for your polite response. I am not able to provide you with my occupation. But my views are of a professional nature ! I refer to perhaps the Security personnel are not aware of the legislation 2014 so my view is thus, why train a dog to attack, defend it's handler when it will lead intimately to the Dog Being confiscated ( A magistrate will provide a warrant within 24 hrs ) the Security Person arrested. Before we get all the know all's saying that's not right perhaps they should wonder who has made this comment Regards Steve
Ok, I’ve got ya. My personal opinion is you used the word attack wrong and defend correctly. ✌🏻
@@MichaelWakleySmith I know you mean well. Be very carefully ( as I know you are ) to have your dog taken is very sad. Also be aware under the new legislation ( which I enforced yesterday) let's say a member of the public rings it in and says there's a dog and I'm frightened ( presuming the complainant has details) the owner of the dog will be visited and if it shows unreasonable aggression a warrant will be sort. This information will be made available shortly
@@MichaelWakleySmith very nice chatting, stay safe.
Welcome back mate! Hope you had an awesome honeymoon! Love the title btw see what you did there haha!
What happened to him and his channel ?
From what I understand, he left security and went back to his previous profession. Which is a shame to the industry, as he was a good security officer
Enjoy the new site pal! And definitely the right attitude and way to deal with the neighbours. All about getting the right balance!
Hi am professional dog handler how can i hired or if you know companies. That are currently hiring
I have one and he is mind blowingly fast. I've had around 30 dogs throughout my lifetime including Siberian Huskies, Shepherd's, Pinchers ect & I haven't seen a dog this fast before. I wouldn't doubt he's one of the fastest German Shepherds in existence, he's like lightning, so fast your eyes can't track him.. Blows my mind..
I used Armatus for my NASDU course and yes, they can supply a suitable dog for a student to use, one of the guys had to do this as his own dog couldn't at the time. And I believe that work is offered for certain students that pass. I still use them for the CT training.
Hey mate another good video, itching to start the process but there's no job security after going through the nasdu process, where I based. Keep up the good content buddy.
Keep up the good work mate. great video as usual. ill dm you if i get any further questions
I’m not a dog handler yet but I’m really grateful for your channel as it’s answered soooo many questions for me! Thank you!
That’s really good to hear. Glad you have found the information helpful and pointing you in the right direction. ✌🏻
Great video as usual. doing my DS in july any pointers or stuff to do to help me prepare?
Hi mate. Thanks for comments about the content. If you want a book to help prepare, this should be good. Working as a Door Supervisor Course Book amzn.eu/d/dJgmXVk I used the security guard version for my course and the instructor read it page by page. You may get one on the course (not 100% sure tho), but this should give you a good bit of information before the course date. I did my course in lockdown and I was the only one with a book, everyone else spent 3 days writing notes on a pad. Hope that helps ✌🏻
Hi mate , I’m 29 and a qualified electrician , always had a passion for dogs and have a cane corso protection trained myself I’m looking to become a dog handler , I know I have to complete the sis security course first When doing the nasdu course can I use a dog that they provide ?
Hey Lou. Good to hear you are looking to follow your passion. You have a similar story to me 4 years ago. Just one thing before I start, NASDU will not team you with your Corso. So you will need another dog for a work team certificate. There are courses where you can use course dogs. The ones I know of are week intensive. G4S in Luton and Armatus Canine in Melton Mowbray are two courses that handlers I know have used course dogs. Hope that helps. Contact me anytime ✌🏻
@@MichaelWakleySmithwow thanks for your reply mate much appreciated I will look into it , I’m going to boook my sia course this Friday so I guess step by step I guess Fed up of being on the tools 🤣
It’s very much a step by step basis. All the best man, working with dogs can be the best. I’ve never regretted it ✌🏻
Keep posting my men, very helpful content, week ago pass my GP lev 2. Thank you for ideas and knowledge
Hey mate. Congratulations on passing your Lv2. Good to hear my content helped you get there in some way. ✌🏻
