How To Properly Winterize Your Direct Drive Ski Boat
Переглядів 16 тис.2 роки тому
This video covers all everything needed to winterize the engine in any direct drive ski boat. This same procedure can be followed on any small or big block Chevy or Ford engines using an open loop cooling system. Malibu, Mastercraft, Ski Nautique, Centurion, Tige

Best video yet...and my exact engine. Do you fog the intake/cylinders? If so and if I already drained, can I just turn it over with the safety pulled for a few seconds and just fog that way even though not as good? What about bilge...should I dump some antifreeze and run it or something or no issue if drained good? What about removing impeller (manual says to do that and use vaseline on it)?
Do you leave out to freeze plugs?
Nice work. I have a 99 Response LX and my platform needs the same love. It will be a good winter project. Thanks for posting this. Cheers from BC
Good vid Collin 👌
Shit Connor my bad haha
I was taught by a technician at my local boat shop to use RV antifreeze. I think the reasoning is that it will displace or at least dilute any water that might still be in the engine.
This video is incredibly helpful thank you! Just bought a 98 response and I was on the fence about doing it myself but this video cleared things up a lot! 1 question though do you leave the plugs off during the winter or reinstall after draining?
I usually replace and hook everything back up after just so its ready for the spring. You can leave them out as a quick check if you ever forget if you did it or not tho
Where do you connect the garden hose to run it out of water ?
Buy your gas at the airport hundred octane no alcohol.
Ever sick! Lets collab sometime!
Is there a conversion for 98.5 24 valve ?
If the boat has a heater dont forget to drain that too. I put an airline on the water inlet hose and blow m manilfolds through. You can also run antifreeze through it) as youn said, but not really needed, the main advantage of the antifreeze is it reduces rusting inside the cast iron parts
Hey mate! I have a question, is there any water to drain around the trans fluid system of a direct drive? I do not find a plug anode or any hoses connected directly to it. It’s a mastecraft RTP-1 2006. Thank you for making this video.
Do you fog the engine? I have a 98 Response with a carburetor and people always tell me to fog it.
Great job! Explained well and just what i needed! Thank you
Nice job. Do you have a transmission cooler that you need to drain?
He pointed at it 5:26, and drained it at 5:46.
Great video, exactly what I was looking for! Just got a 99 response this summer and you break this down very well.
Thanks for this awesome video hoss!!!
Good video Connor. Can you comment on how to winterize the heater?
Is your hydroboost aftermarket?
No. It's a modified unit off of an asteo van from the 90s. All the same units over time, just gotta make the pushrod work with the factory pedal. Same unit as the 97 dodge as well.
Could be interested in your old windshield frame I have some problems there
Sorry, old windshield is already gone
What kind of motor mounts you use on it
Second gen dodge mounts. The entire frame and drivetrain is stock 97 dodge
I'm about to start one cool to see we are in the same province !
Did you have to cut and splice into the existing wire leads to the sensor? Or did you leave it unplugged. Thanks
Is there a reason why you don't pump any pink fluid through your water lines before you drain
There's nothing to freeze if you remove ALL the water from the lines
Thanks for the great video. I’ve got a 93 echelon lx and I’m afraid to go without antifreeze but because of your video I’m going to do it.
GOOD DAY CONOR I CAME CROSS UR CHANEL AN HAVE TO SAY I 'REALY' LIKE THE MOVIE YOU MAKE I WIL SUPORT THIS PAGE AN HOPE TO SE YOU MAKE MOR MOVIE ABOUT YOUR BOAT; BOATS N HOES N GOBBLES THE USA
What year and model are the Dodge frame? I see it's a 2nd gen but it looks long like cab and chassis. The cab doesn't seem too loud on video. Cab mounts fairly easy? Any fire wall and front of the frame mods to fit the Chevy cab?
Yeah its a 2nd gen frame from a 97 extended cab longbed truck. Could'nt believe how well it all fit but the motor is set back 4.75" from where it originally was in the dodge and then the front frame horns were cut back 5" and new bumper mounts were fabbed. For the cab mounts, I used the dodge that I had cut off and shortened and then rewelded to the frame. The front cab mounts I was able to line up and use the factory dodge isolators but the rear I had to move the cab mounting side out to get the isolator beside the frame. The rad support is 95% custom and uses the mounts I cut from the dodge support and brought the frame side in closer toward the frame rail. Fairly easy swap when done this way as opposed to what I see other guys do. All I had to do on the firewall was roll the pinch over an hammer a bit to get the trans dipstick to not contact.
@@connorduester I was wondering because the engine sits so far forward in the Dodge chassis. I really dig your truck. Kickass build!
Is it called c/30 because your name is Connor and you’re 30 years old?
