Lovely stuff. Can you let me know the song played with this video, please? Thanks and keep the films coming.
Hi Kay. The music is "Road trip" and "This beautiful pain" both by Runrig
@@nauticalmiles7087 Thanks so much. Lovely!
Great watching and listening? What song is that please? Thanks.
The music is Atoms, Day in a boat & The dancing floor. All by Runrig . Thanks for the comment.
Sorry, missed the closing tune, Altera Tera. Pipe band tune played by Lincoln Hilton.
You must enjoy like others appear the annoying tap of a bucket lid nowadays attached to every decent song. I make no apologies for switching off immediately .@@nauticalmiles7087
Great video, thanks for posting 👍
Great trip

Cracking videos and music I’m surprised we’ve not crossed paths on our Rib travels
What a size your Rib? 5.0 m?
Been enjoying the videos of your trips. I see you've swapped the RIB for a cruiser. How do you find it handles the big seas compared to the RIB? Certainly a dryer journey 😀
Hi. Thanks for your comment. The change to a hard boat was along considered one. The RIB was a 25 degree deep V so for the best part I could maintain 25 knots regardless of conditions and the ride was pretty soft. There have now been two occasions with the hard boat that we've been caught out in worse than we ever encountered with the RIB and it was remarkably dry and still seemed well clear of having green water over the bow. However, the ride is a fair bit harder than the RIB. Not a lot of difference in economy, about 10% but the big win is in "inclement weather". We had a couple of runs back to Oban with the RIB, one from Craighouse and one from Tobermory, late evening and pouring rain, and that was "the straw the broke the camel's back". Maybe just my advancing years telling me something but it's nice boating in a "T" shirt..
How wonderful is that! I just been to Scotland this June, how I wished I had my Rib there. I must do it next time when I visit again! How do you figure out where to fuel up and anchor? Thanks!
Generally fuel up near Oban (Dunbeg) and carry enough fuel for the round trip. eg 100nm, 130ltr fill and carry an extra 30ltr Hulk for top-up and 12ltr for aux. Not a lot of fuelling options. easy walking distance at Tobermory but other than that you'll need land transport. As for anchoring, all the trips were day-trips and we based ourselves in Dunstaffnage.
Sense of longing everytime.
That’s a great system, what’s it called and where can you obtain it please?
Nice video and equally impressive ribs. I found the fuel consumption information very interesting and would be keen to know the size of the engine and rib as well as the average speed as I am guessing you were not flat out everywhere. One other thing was the duration for each leg i.e. 109 NM etc. I have dived for years up in that area and I can tell you that you were lucky to get such good weather for so long :)
3 of the ribs were 6.5m and had 150hp a Honda mercury and a Yamaha the rib craft was a 6.8 with a 200 Suzuki averaging about 24nm/hr
Hello I’ve just bought a boat that’s in Oban, can’t wait to get up there, Are you a local could I bother you for bit of advice ?
I'm in Central Scotland but spend a fair bit of time around Oban. So if I can help...?
Ok thanks, I’ve bought a motor boat near Oban and I want to sail it to Ireland like you did in video but not for couple months , is it a straightforward trip any danger spots too look out for ?
@@mogggggg1 Depends on a few factors. I've done a few trips to Ireland (Ballycastle, Rathlin, Bangor, Dublin) from the Clyde and Oban to Port Ellen on Islay from Oban but not the bit from Port Ellen to Ireland. Obviously depends on the boat, equipment, your experience and the big one.... weather. Plenty of good "bolt holes" on the trip to Port Ellen but there is a raging current through the Sound of Islay, a bit lumpy at either end and once your south of Islay it very exposed. Pick your weather window carefully.
@@nauticalmiles7087 thanks for this, The boat is a 35 ft rodman twin engines cruise 20 knots I have experience from fishing boats in South Wales for years the tides are big down here But never did a trip this distance , once I get to Ireland I intend to follow coast down to Wexford area then crossover to Milford haven where I’ll leave boat for a few months Appreciate your info thanks 🙏
@@mogggggg1 That should be a breeze. What reefs are there are all well charted and there's plenty of deep water round them, with 20knots under your belt the tides won't be a problem. Corryvreckan, Grey Dogs and the Sound of Islay have strong tidal races and can create dangerous standing waves but you don't need to go through any of them....Straight down the sound of Jura. Biggest issue, particularly in the dark, is lobster pot buoys and I'd imagine you've "been there, got the T shirt".
I hope we all get back out soon
Wow...what a great video!
Luck bugers, that weather/sea conditions are like getting the jackpot up on the lottery 😎👍🚤 Hopefully when life as we used to know it returns I might actually get my rib back in the water 👍
Daft question. Fuel costs please?
Roughly a 0.8 to 0.9 litres per nautical mile at 25 knots. So at UK prices about £1 per mile.....£110 approx. If you're thinking of doing it, the Isle of Gunna between Coll & Tiree is a must....."Around Oban and Mull by Rib"
@@nauticalmiles7087 thank you. Very interesting. I love tiree so much. Been 14 times. Stay safe✌
Like it, works well.
Brilliant videos my friend. Sitting here on the Black Isle waiting out the corona virus lockdown and dreaming dreams of getting my wee Searider out on the water this summer. Great selection of music as well.
Amazing stuff!
Lovely video of the Loch looking so calm. Doesn’t seem that long since the summer when we were swimming off our new pontoon. It would be great if someone did rob boat trips from here. Hint hint.
Great to see Breezy today in her new guise. Many great trips in her, even out to St Kilda. Some of the videos are on my channel "Morse27"
Just been trawling through them......briliant !
@@nauticalmiles7087 great, hope you manage out there. Very capable boats. We'll be back in the Outer Hebrides next June. Can't wait!
Nice wee trip there LT do you ever stay where you go or return to base camp ??
we very rarely stay away on this occasion we stayed in stein for 2 weeks
Perfect conditions LT thanks for sharing nice cruse
Can you tell me where you got the left and right trailer lightboards from? They look like a neat solution to the usual unwieldy trailer extension light board. Thanks for your videos too. I always enjoy watching them.
Made them myself. Lights off Ebay. If I was doing it again I'd hinge the arms outward 20 or 30 degrees for loading /unloading rather than the "telescope" way they've been done. "IP68 lights" aren't. Need sealing before submerging them,
Another great vid LT I like the prop footage with great vis too
should have taken my tender
great vid i saw breeze block at crianlarich on his way up i was the white mini he waited for on my way back from a trip with gurnard
Going to your part of the country this spring in my 7,8 brig rib give me a call if you want to meet up gk uk 🇬🇧
like a summers day
not the best slip is an understatement I was ankle deep in slop and the guy at the marina was a prick
I would stress that the ground staff could not have been more helpful and the comment refers to one individual in the office..
Look like u still enjoyed your time what was the other boat Humber ?? I don't know why Port Edgar just don't dredge that slip way for all tide conditions
johns boat is a coastline the one with the canopy is a northcraft @@Swarbrick129
Nicely done
Would like to meet up with my rib on your next trip give me a call if you want to meet up Gary 07785777042

Thanks. The Dolphins were "The icing on the cake" of what was a brilliant day out.
