@@Horse-Colverleaf I know it’s hard but we want what’s best for our horses. We don’t take decisions like this lightly but we’ve prayed about it and believe it the right thing to do

For horses with white muzzles, I like to use a long nose fly mask.

Question: When is the right time to start riding horses after they arrive to a new place? (Like if a horse comes to the ranch, how long until it is perfect to ride a horse)
I always try to wait at least a week before riding them once they come to a new place. Sometimes longer. It all depends on how well the horse is settling in. If they are doing well I might do some light riding or ground work sooner though

SHE IS TOO THIN!!! I'VE GOT HORSES AND I KNOW AN UNDER NOURISHED HORSE WHEN I SEE ONE. NOT TRYING TO BE MEAN. CHECK HER TEETH. WORMS???? AT 15 YEARS OF AGE THEY NEED MORE FEED. MY 25 YEAR OLD GELDING LOOKS WAY BETTER THEN HER.
I appreciate your concern. But Just because you can see a horse’s ribs doesn’t make her thin. She is clearly healthy by the way her coat shines. She is at a body score of 5 and that’s actually where you want them. She has good fat over tail head, crest and a decent amount over her ribs too. Most horses in the US are extremely overweight. An overweight horse can cause more health issues later in life. Jewelz also is a high ulcer risk and we have been advised to keep her off grain and make sure she stays a healthy weight.
