      Peter Schön Every regiment that are guarding the palace has "changing of the guards". Only livdragonerna has the blue uniforms but they guard the palace most days of the year. We had black uniforms when we stood at the palace. I was a stadsskytte. We are a part of Livgardet but we were 6:e skvadron with black uniforms. 4:e skvadron has the blue ones.

      ***** I fear you have an over-romantic view of these ceremonies. Mostly, they have no great history behind them: that's to say they're perhaps a couple of hundred years old. They only one I know to be rather ancient is the Ceremony of the Keys at the Tower of London.

    They are singing and old soldier song called "Beväringsvisa" or "Conscript Soldier Song". I've tried to translate the text, see below :) It's not always so easy to translate old songs... "Away, out of the way here we come from the Yellow Guard Never embarrassed and never out of temper. Old women step aside the road for us The girls make a curtsy, it is just as it should be. The drummer drums, echo answered flam, flam flam, Sharp soldiers goes the way forwards!"

    I think its sad to compare military force, brag about how Denmark can stand on its own 2 legs... Compared to the bigger nations Denmark dont have a chance... yea you dont approve the surrender to Germans... Ofcourse you dont since you didnt fight the war, it would be idiotic for Denmark or Sweden to engage in a real war. Thank God Denmark didnt think like you did, then I probably wouldnt have any brothers and sisters from Denmark alive today. The only real threat for Sweden is USA

  • @Great_Dane
    @Great_Dane 11 років тому

    And what would Sweden have done if our jets didnt intercept them? In this case this was an exercise, but it prove that Sweden deffently cant stand on its own 2 legs. Yes Denmark surrendered to the Germans, I understand why they did it even though I dont approve it. But that was a long time ago. Times are different, the Swedish military which used to be stronger is almost if not already on a level that match the Danish. Denmark can today stand on its own 2 legs, unlike 70 years ago.

  • @Great_Dane
    @Great_Dane 11 років тому

    Maybe you should check your facts... NATO is an international alliance, and those "NATO fighters" just happen to be Danish which were assigned the duty of patrolling the Baltic States. Sweden is not an NATO member, and we arent allied with them. Therefore we arent oppligated to protect or help them. Unless ordered by NATO command.

  • @Great_Dane
    @Great_Dane 11 років тому

    Which is more than willing to deploy troops, ships or aircraft to any conflict in the world. We have proven that since the 90s now. Operation Bøllebank (Hooligan bashing) was the first encountry in the 90s. Later the Iraq war and now the horn of Africa and Afghanistan where we have the highest troop/population percentage and same goes for casualties. We also often have a warship patrolling the horn of Africa, where HDMS Absalon hold the record of capturing the most pirates.

  • @Great_Dane
    @Great_Dane 11 років тому

    Usualy you intercept foreign planes before they get into your air space. They meet up just before, if they continue despite warnings, they will get shot down. Yes our government surrendered, our government was pacifist and by surrendering we allowed to keep our entire country for ourself, unlike the Netherlands and Poland who was in the Wehrmacht control and completly bombed. We failed in maintaining neutrality, yes. But times change and Denmark has become an extremly active nation which is...

    After WW2 we joined an alliance and therefore we shape our military to suit that alliance. We need noone for protection. In WW1 we took care of our own borders, even when the country was smaller. You dont see foreign troops/bases or jets/ships patrolling within our borders. Even Greenland we patrol ourself eventhough we have an ally right next to it. Our troops has a lot of respect for being very profesionel and effictive in combat. And our navy has some of the most high tech ships in the world

  • @Great_Dane
    @Great_Dane 11 років тому

    Our pride is fine enough, we have had our rough times but are finaly back into a good period. We acted as the "Baltic police" as the 3 Baltic states has no air force. And the Russian bombers where not on their way back home according to our defense, they were just minutes from Swedish air space, but Sweden apperently had no jets ready to intercept. Denmark can take care of itself. In WW2 our government was pacifist thats why we didnt resist much in military.

  • @Great_Dane
    @Great_Dane 11 років тому

    That was 200 years ago and we are still independent afterall. Today, Sweden cant even kick out the Russian planes who keep violating everyones border. This easter an Russian bomber squardron was training as if they were at war with Sweden and got dangerously close to Swedish territory. What did Sweden do, nothing. So they relied on the DANISH air force to intercept them. Atleast our military are still very much active around the world. Unlike Swedens.
