So Barbara Streisand ls heritage is Pentecost?

I think she was referring to her heritage as a gifted singer and possibly her Jewish heritage. She was never Pentecostal.

@@TheHackaPodcast it wouldn’t surprise me if she had had the Holy Ghost before. So many have and traded it in for fame.

I heard something on Episode 117 Healthy Changes which caught my attention. My parents were not church going people but they demanded that we be there for every meal possible but no excuse for not being there for the evening meal. We did not turn on the TV and watch it during that time either. We talked. I have many good memories of uninterrupted conversations. My parents usually had a good feel for what was going on in our lives on a daily basis. I accredit that to this habit. We didn't have cell phones. answering machines or the like. If the phone rang, my Dad would say, "If it's anyone we know, they will call back because they will realize this is our dinner time." This has trained me for certain disciplines with time lines and how much I allow people to intrude upon those. Those who know me I know I still have work to do on this but knowing how well this works, keeps me practicing those things. I hope some parents will pick up on this and implement it. It is so valuable.

My spouse cheated on me and we weren’t in a financial position to get professional help. My spouse was and is happy that I didn’t kick them out and has moved on. I’ve had to deal with the pain alone in order not to expose their behavior to the community. It has been a rough time. If I’d not had God and a couple family members supporting me, idk what I’d done. It’s been 6 years and I still deal with resentment at times because my spouse didn’t even want to watch things like this podcast, or read books, articles etc to help us heal…they were relieved it was all over and they didn’t lose everything in the process, move on! Basically I had God and that’s great, but as a human I needed to see that my spouse cared enough to do some hard work to show me that they cared to help in my pain. Forgiveness has been a long road of healing. My anxiety and 3:00 a.m. come to Jesus moments aren’t as frequent, but I still have waking moments with the case of the “whys” that a counselor could have helped us with. We’ve gotten our children through college and now have some finances to get counseling, but after 6 years, I’m not sure if my spouse even remembers they cheated…even though I’ve thought of it every single day since. Yes, they resented talking about it, as it reminder them of “how stupid they were” and “you are dragging stuff up that I’ve repented over”, that I completely quit even talking about it to them. It was me and God that dealt with all of my fears, shame, low self esteem, shattered confidence, loss of dreams, hopes, loss of desire to even enjoy my gardening, sunsets, sunrises, etc. It has been a very trying lonely time for me. My spouse thinks they have been supportive by being extremely generous and good to me and they are doing what they believe to be EVERYTHING to make it up to me. In their own way, they feel like they’ve been extra good to me. It is just that they haven’t a clue what infidelity does to a person and because of their lack of interest (for selfish reasons), they will probably never know. I’m listening to this to try again (one more self-help desperate attempt) to find out if I’m holding resentment towards my spouse for leaving me (and God, thankfully) with all the broken pieces to put together, the mess that THEY actually made! Forgiveness, it is not for the faint of heart! 😇💔🥰

PLEASE GET GRIEF COUNSELLING!! I thought I was WonderWoman - ALWAYS the ‘strong’ one out of 6 siblings. But my suppressed grief showed like cracks in porcelain! It gave me horrendous insomnia, anxiety and depression. I’ve lost both my parents AND my favourite brother (to Leukaemia, I found him dead in his flat on my return from a much needed holiday last Sept 💔💔) And I also had breast cancer right after mum died (mastectomies recon went HORRIBLY wrong. All this hit within 8 years without ANY time to recover in between. Remember, depression is the curse of the STRONG! Getting help is NOT weakness, it is ESSENTIAL. I FINALLY got face to face therapy for grief counselling through Talk Plus 5 weeks ago (we get 6 sessions free in the UK if GP refers you) Had to wait almost 3 mths, but after just ONE session (talking about the FURY inside me at everyone who let my brother down) and my insomnia was GONE!! A HUGE weight pushing me down just lifted!! I literally felt lighter as i left her office! Have to say, the difference getting sleep for the first time in 8 years is also really helping relieve my depression! Anxiety is still lurking, but we’re working in it. Too tip: If you don’t click with your therapist TELL them, and move on, find one you like! Therapy is impossible otherwise!
