Before UA-cam existed I used to collect interesting TV and film clips on VHS, DVD and even some laserdiscs. Why? You’d never know when, or if, you’d see it again.
Now I’m sifting through that very varied collection - some of it gold, some of it of questionable taste - and posting it here.
Also take a look at my other channel @SprocketList where I’ve done some longer edits on various subjects.

BBC World Business Report: Titles and branding 1990s to 2024 - BBC News retired the 'WBR' brand, after more than 30 years, on Tuesday 7th May 2024. I had no idea World Business Report was ditched as a brand (until I saw @hoanganhkheo-editor mention it). It was a weirdly comforting show years ago, seeing it on BBC World when in a foreign hotel room. I already had some of the old branding in my a...

And so began 25 years of David Lowe's greatest creation
Do you have the full edition of Boy George's Queerest TV moments?
Yeah I do. I didn’t upload it all because it’s elsewhere on UA-cam (I think) and it’s quite edgy from the bits I’ve seen. There’s another bit within it about the Six O’clock News invasion which I’ll grab at some point.
what is your settings to make the upscale
Upscale to FHD, AI model Iris, 50 FPS
The upscaling looks really nice! The originals would have been 25fps (Shot on film), but it's interesting to see them at 50fps
Regarding Casualty, there are lots of similarities between Julian Chapman's character then and that of Dylan Keogh's character now, IMO.
Any chance you have original HD file if you can share via Google drive or something.
Drop me an email. You’ll find the address on my channel’s About page. There’s also a Buy Me A Coffee link page too 😉

MEMORIES!!! Thanks so much for uploading this!
2:34 "Whatever you're up to in the next 24 hours, I hope it's profitable!" so Richard Quest was using this sign-off even then! LONG before the days of Quest Means Business and the bell...
When this happened I was 16, I'm an American, I will never forget any of it. The jumpers. I will never never never forget them. Many nee sites cut the video of them jumping and specifically the sounds it made when the jumpers hit. May they RIP. As horrific as that was to hear at the time and realize what you were hearing...I think it's incredibly important to hear it. With a warning of course. More importantly, the jumpers ahould be remembered, the horror, absolute horror they faced, shouldn't be forgotten or edited out
She is even better than real Queen 😂
Thank you so much for posting this, it brings back so many wonderful memories of growing up watching Barry Norman's Film series starting in 78 until he retired. I can't believe this edition came out almost 30 years ago seems like only yesterday.

Two well-known and high-profile TV personalities were murdered that same year. Jill Dando in Great Britain and Francisco “Paco” Stanley in Mexico.
Back when the beeb had a shred of respect
One'o'clock news headline titles sound a bit off. I can't explain it - but it just does.
Best role he ever did
The intro at 1:39 must be probably from 1999.
Audio is glitching on earphones. I can hear rapid clicking. Not an instant nuisance, but gets annoying over time.
The way you editing the real footage on the movie is really good tho
Thank you. It was an interesting project to do. I really appreciate your comment.
Does anyone know what Barry thought of Starship Troopers?? I've been trying to find out for years
Yeah would be interesting to know. Some saw it as cheesy sci-fi while others saw it as intelligent parody.
3:55 hahaha don’t remember that ad. Brilliant.
Me neither. Edgy (for the time) and funny.
I was just thinking "Stuff from the 00s has aged pretty well actually!" until a DVD advert popped up
wahey, long time no see!!!
Hey :-) . I know. When my other channel was unjustly zapped I became disillusioned and disinterested in youtube for a while. Plus it's been quite a nice summer here in the UK. Too hot to sit at a computer. I'm sorry I've got a backlog of videos to look at for you (Topaz keeps changing its GUI and render times see to be very very long now!). The colder weather is on its way so I expect I'll be rummaging through my tapes again soon.
@@vhs_videohomesystem And it would be great to sit "warm up" next to your Apple Mac while waiting for Topaz to render for my video in the winter, LOL =)))))
I remember that day! My Mum phoned, she was very upset and distressed wanting me to put BBC1 on, she really believed it was the end of the world. Then seeing all this unfold! I lobbed a blank video tape into the recorder and hit record.
I've had this in my Private videos since January (2024) so because I've not uploaded anything for a while I decided to set it free. Enjoy returning to 2005!
He fucking nailed that role
That comment that TSW lost because it offered "nothing spectacular" is complete tosh. We know that all of the incumbents passed on programme quality - else the conversation about finances would never have been had. Quality was considered first - if they passed, and there wasn't a case of exceptional circumstances, it went down to the money. It was never the job of any company to offer a "spectacular" service. They just had to pass the threshold. TSW lost, because £16m would have bankrupted them in short order. You're talking about a smaller company than Tyne Tees, whose successful £15m bid was a disaster for NE viewers, and a company not much larger than Ulster.
TV-am Will Change To GMTV Hoping That Sunrise TV Never Aired On ITV
When movies were movies unlike the shit cringe worthy movies of today.
The 9 o clock theme is amazing. It's a pure eargasm. It's the ultimate evolution of the 1988 theme. That little extended note at 3:10 into 3:11 just makes all the difference. There will never be anything like it again. Ostentatious, confident, dominant. The way the camera pans out quickly when the United Kingdom is exactly at the centre of the frame. They just wouldn't allow anything like it today. The 6 o clock intro theme takes things a little bit to an extreme. One can imagine Genghis Khan himself charging in on the set on his horse, as it stops mid stage, rearing up and kicking its forelegs. I love it dearly in its own right, but it's way too much for a news theme. I have a feeling 'someone got their way' on that one, as there must have been detractors.
Wonderful analysis 👍
Thanks for sharing. Randomly stumbled on this. Great watch given today he doesnt really stretch himself in different roles it seems. Haven't heard his maniacal laugh in a while w Either.😂
Glad you enjoyed it. The ‘stumbled upon’ viewer is exactly who I’m hoping to share my fairly random archive with on this channel.
Full credit to Sue for carrying on in a calm and controlled manner
i love how if you changed the Lowerthirds/UI/indents to the modern ones thats the only difference in 24 years apart from studio (they still report and talk the same and everything even the title cards how they layout stats and do the b-roll and interviews) bbc really went if it ain't broke don't fix it / change it 😂
Can you please do the 80s movies on VHS and make torrents?
I don’t do naughty stuff like that 😊
I bet Anna Ford was smiling inside as she announced TVam had lost their franchise...
Fascinating but horrifying to watch I was only 5 at the time and was sadly one of my earliest memories, our house was around the corner from my school so would get home quick to put on kids tv back then we just had the 5 channels and I remember sitting on the floor with my nan annoyed my favorite show wasn't on because of what my nan said was a film it was only when it was on every channel we realised, horrible day, regardless on what or who you think bears responsibility nobody deserves to die like that RIP
Thanks for uploading these!

The two 90s idents from what years specifically? We have an ident from 1995-1997.
They're both from 1997, I think. There was another intro used previous to that, which isn't in this video (it is on TV Ark, though).
The best year for movies ever.A lot of people say 1939 not me 1994 is the one.
1982 is often cited as a golden year. The mid 90s was great too.
