Sambhar Salt Lake Salt train June 2022
Tiny Railway system owned by the Government of India and the Government of Rajasthan used for carrying salt. I believe that the locomotive is a 200 horsepower OEPL (Ovis Equipment Private Limited, Hyderabad) 4wDH. Will be grateful if someone clarifies this. Sambhar is a lovely and relatively less touristed place in Rajasthan. It has many attractions like migrating Flamingos , the Shakambari temple, the old circuit house etc. For Rail fans , the tiny salt trains are no less of an attraction

Post retirement visit to the Rewari Steam shed in June 2022. Some goof ups in my commentary when showing the wheel arrangements . Goods locomotives WGs and YGs ( and also the massive XE class ) have a 2-8-2 wheel arrangement while passenger locomotives WP and YP have a 4-6-2 wheel arrangement. Goods locomotives thus have more driven wheels for better tractive effort while passenger locomotives ...

Give a cheer also to the ever reliable Gino Banks on drums and India's own 19 year old bass prodigy Mohini Dey. who at 19 has already played for Steve Vai and now Guthrie ! she played several breathtaking Bass solos in the gig including one of in this clip

Sunday ride to Manor for breakfast with wife.On the way back, my Ninja 650 decided to have the beautiful Manor-Mumbai section of NH-8 for breakfast ..So much torque that none of the overtakes even needed a shift to 5th ..

A trip from Leh to the Khardungla pass which at a height of 18,380 ft above sea level is supposed to be the highest motorable road in the world though that claim is under some dispute. Trip done in June 2014.

Pune Hwh Azad hind pulling out of Wardha junction with a Bhusawal WAM-4P at the helm and the customary milk van at the rear. Video was taken in March 2013. Once the premier electric locomotive on Indian railways, WAM4s are unfortunately all retired today.

No doubt that Mohini is excellent, and amazing for her age and all that she’s accomplished, but there was a section during the show in one one the songs where he gestured her (bassist) to shimmer down a bit, coz she was all the place, over playing during the song sections
I was at this gig. Mohini had messed up the chords of this song and Guthrie tried to get her attention to cue her, but to no avail. So thats when he said “its all part of the show” She was supposed to play the chords (lines) during the tapping section but she instead continued with the verse. And then she took a solo later on and still didn’t come back to the chords of the tapping section that Guthrie played. So he tried to improvise basically, to salvage the song. Both drummer and him tried getting her attention. Even at 2:43 he was waiting on her to get back into the verse with that sustained note. And when he thought he had managed to cue her, inorder to get back into the verse at 2:54 .. she played the chorus chords instead again .. so that’s when he further improved! Thanks to this, we have the best version of 7’s and proof that Guthrie is a Living Marvel and should be recognised as one of the greatest wonders of the world!
Mohini was having tuning issues. You can see her reach for the tuning pegs at 0:42 and 0:58. She also plucks what is supposed to be the D string at 1:10, only for it to come out as more of like a C# string. You can hear her tuning it not too long after. I'm sure Guthrie immediately knew what was happening from the moment saw her reach for the tuning pegs for the first time. He was watching quite intently after the first adjustment. After he hears the chords at 1:03, it's clear to him that there is a problem, so he improvises his way out of the tapping part to let her tune. It probably caught her off guard as she was missing cues after as you mentioned. But they managed to make it work

You should get between 20 - 23 kmpl at touring speeds ( 120- 140 kmph ). Long stretches at 160 kmph and above will see that coming down to < 20 kmpl. When I tour with my friend who has an RE Classic 500 , we generally dont exceed 100 kmph and I have seen mileages of > 30 kmpl on those runs .. infact between 90-100 kmph , it actually gives a better milage than the RE 500 . Tank range is around 250 km .. I generally tank up between 200 - 225 km.

No, that it is his signature, Charvel GG koa. he used sometimes... This is from 2012 for example www.rig-talk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=124328&mobile=on ... But he uses a lot more Bird's Eye Maple finishes and a lot more the flame maple top model... sorry for my english

My green monster is everything I could ask for on our highways .. decent power , double ton + topspeed, comfort and reliability on long distances and a decent tank range. Just that the ground clearance is a tad low when riding two up , something that the versys takes care of ..
