I partially blame Bob Rock for ruining Metallica's sound on the Black album. He has a knack for making bands sound like pop-rock.

Down started in the mid 90's and is named for the "down time" between pantera albums. The early albums are really good.

4 albums before cowboys. Metal magic, I am the night, projects in the jungle and Power metal (1st album with Phil on vocals). Give them a chance before writing them off. They're a product of the era for sure.

I'm a vast well of music and I encourage you to drink of it often. 😁

If you want to try out Otep i would recommend The Ascention. Definitely one of the best. Their later albums feel much more political to me, almost to the point of being unlistenable.

The Crusade is also the album that got me into Trivium. Mmmm, thrashy goodness. Check out Pantera's Official Live 101 Proof album as a showcase of how tight their live show was. And i must confess I do NOT remember you singing that at NTB lol.

Little Fun Fact to the Song you listened to at the end "What do I have to do" by Stabbing Westward, it's originaly a song by the 80's band Exotic Birds, whos singer and songwriter Andy Kubiszewski later went on and became the drummer of Stabbing Westward and some of his old songs than got released with Stabbing Westward. Other Songs they released wich were originaly Exotic Birds songs are "Sometimes it Hurts" and "Haunting Me". And more fun facts, Trent Reznor was part of Exotic Birds for bit before he started Nine inch Nails, as well as NIN drummer Chris Vrenna. And Andy Kubiszewski played percussions on some songs for NINs second Album the Downward Spiral.

My biggest take away from Pretty Hate Machine is it's very raw, and not totally indicative of what NIN would become. It was a very experimental album. Also, there really wasn't anything like it before.

And I think you're thinking of Gorillaz' clint Eastwood for the drum sample.

I love Muse because they're always willing to try something new and it always just works. Will of the People is probably my 2nd favorite album just behind Reapers

I first heard these guys in high school and it was largely because of roadrunner. Slipknot was a huge part of my teenage soundtrack and they were also on RR at the time.

*snob comment incoming* Mudvayne would be considered math-metal and their bassist Ryan Martinie is supremely talented. Dude stands out in that band.

I would love to see you two do a song that requires harmonies on guitar! One left one right! Maybe Iron Maiden or Avenged Sevenfold? There are a ton of bands that do those kind of harmonies! Any chance of seeing something like that in the future?
