Padel Showdown: An EPIC Match With 2 GB Pros
Переглядів 12 тис.21 день тому
Watch me in this epic 1 set Padel showdown as I team up with GB's #6 Jake Bewley to take on GB's #2 Sam Jones and 1 other player. There are so many twists and turns in this one. If you love this video, then drop me a like, a comment and a subscribe. Thank you!
Epic content! Keep it up my man.
Thanks! Appreciate you dropping by and commenting Robin!😎
hey, nice video again man! and cool to see my feedback in the vid :) i'm probably not even your level but something I noticed when you're at the net. You are quite flat footed / not split stepping and also your racket is quite low. I feel like a few times you are receiving a volley at a nice pace and location to do some damage and these small things are hindering you. Compare v jake at around 4:30 and you can see how he is more prepared every time for the volley. Also the vibora that you receive at 3:44 - i thought your positioning left your vunerable to the ball to feet which was your undoing. I'm being super critical but only because i know you are on a quest to improve. Keep it up!
Hey man - thanks so much for taking the time to comment but also provide such awesome feedback. Just for the record, I have zero ego with this so I welcome it with open arms. As well as that, you are bang on too. Definitely flat footed aren’t I, not bouncing around like a feather 😂..thanks again! Much appreciated - keep watching and commenting 😊
Great video to start the channel, sub +1. Bit on the same level and age, addicted to padel :) Looking forward to the next video's, greetings from Belgium!
@@h1tten1t Ah awesome man! Thanks so much for the sub and the comment…video is now up 👍..stay in touch, and…keep addicted!!
Great video! Really like your style of editing. I'm playing my first padel tournament this weekend, over 40's at Padel Hub Epsom, really looking forward to it.
Ah amazing!! Good luck! Let me know how you get on 😎
This guy travelling 58km to play padel 😱
😂 I know, it's not that far!! I've travelled further - thanks for commenting!
You did well. Give yourself some credit. I admire your ambition and drive to improve but these are great players! Also, don't underestimate your adrenaline/energy levels. No doubt you were up for it and wanted to play with high intensity but sometimes that doesn't result in a calm performance. I have now subscribed Best of luck 😊
Thanks so much - I appreciate that a lot! Very true, thanks for the advice, I'm gonna take it onboard!
Please swerve using music from future videos and try and let us hear the ball and game more. We don’t need the music we’d rather hear the passion and players shouting for fucks sake etc The music ruins the video. Commentary is good though. Keep it coming, great channel! 🎾🎾🎾
Thanks Ross, appreciate that and the feedback man! Equally appreciate your points on the ball sound/hearing the passion etc, thanks for sharing! 😎
Looking forward to the next one! Get revenge 😂 🎾🎾
Hmmm ruddy good idea man - finish the trilogy?
Your enthusiasm is so good to hear. You can really see the effort you put into your videos. The quality is quite insane for this being your second video! 👏
Ah thank you very much! Super nice of you to say, really appreciate that 😊
Already buzzing for the next one!
This makes me happy to read - thank you! 🤩
Great video again mate, it's gonna be fun to follow your journey! I bet you know this already, or might have caught on to it in your analysis; try to take the ball even further down. Your "viboras" are from above your head, so they bounce a lot, and then also try to establish your foundation before hitting aka NOT jumping lol! I fall victim to this mistake too when my lazy ass can't move back fast enough sometimes! Cheers for the great content, have a good one
Thanks for this man, appreciate it! Completely agree with what you’ve said, and you hit the nail on the head too - getting back into position (either through just doing it or anticipating a lob) can be a little delayed for me which is an issue. Thanks again - love this 😎
Another great video, ( wow saying video sounds old) nicely edited and put together. As for playing tentatively, I can relate. I think it's a confidence thing, for example I have a weak smash so tend to play it more gently. I believe the more comfortable and confident you get in your shots and shot selection the harder and more aggressive you'll play. Great work.
Thanks David, appreciate that a lot! I completely agree with the confidence thing too - I find my confidence can fluctuate multiple times in a game, sometimes impacted by just one poor shot. All a work in progress for us all - thanks again!
Such a legend James!❤️❤️
☺️ you da legend man!!
Consistency seems to be one of the most important things in padel, that one shot you get back can make all the difference to winning the point or losing it. Keep the vid's coming buddy, well done :)
Thank you! Yeah completely agree, it’s finding that balance between fully going for the shots I need to, and playing more conservatively to continue building the point that I want to really get better on
Love seeing you improve!
Ah thank you! Means alot Lucas, appreciate that 😎 Some bits i was definitely feeling better about, but when it really mattered I just couldn't up with the goods! We keep pushing forward though - thanks again!
Great videos. Would recommend losing the exaggerated sound effect.
@@abdulrahmanf809 Thanks man! Appreciate the feedback too 😎
Nice, keep playing and keep the videos coming!
Thanks so much Brian 😀
Hey mate, great video. Just wondering what your filming set up is? Love the angle. Cheers.
@@practicallyvegan Hey man, thanks so much! Appreciate that…filming setup is super basic, iPhone, tripod higher the angle the better typically. Then I do heavy editing on the computer to get to the core highlights etc
Great content and a great game. Look forward to my feature 😜and more videos like this!!
@@bradleygordon4089 Awesome dude - thanks v much 😎
Nice to play with you James !
Likewise man - you played superb! 😎
That’s my club! Awesome channel - will def be following your journey. I’ve just started playing and I’m obsessed! You all make it look so damn effortless.
Ah awesome!! Love this…if you see me down Rocket, then come over and say hello 😎
Great video dude, how long have you been playing? Tennis background?
Thanks man! Been playing for just over 2 years now…played tennis before hand, more so when I was younger. I feel bad for tennis because as soon as I played Padel, I essentially betrayed it (tennis) 😂…just a superior game in my opinion
Aaaaand another channel / journey that I will be watching. Keep it up padel brother! 🙂
Legend! Thanks so much 😎
You'd do good to be a little bit positive about yourself mate ;). Nice gameplay, and solid recording. You've got yourself a new sub, keep it up!
Thanks so much man! And yeah I hear ya on the critical self talk, appreciate you mentioning it 👍
Here from Austria. I enjoyed your Video. Keep it up! I am also in my 30is, but Padel is still for every age. The best of luck for you 🎉
Hey! That’s awesome - thanks for sharing… it is indeed for every age 😎, been trying to get my 3 year old into it too
Hey James! Love the video! I’m 37, suffered an ACL tear in January (still waiting for surgery) and it’s led to me putting weight on and not feeling great! Lost my fitness and the sport I love but this video has given me some inspiration! I want to get fit and join you in that over 40s top 10! Subscribed to watch the journey! Keep it up!
Hey!! Ah that’s amazing that you wanna rock out the top 10 with me, let’s do it!! I’ve heard an ACL tear can be pretty intense, so it’s totally understandable for you not to be feeling great right now. Glad the video gave you some inspiration and I’m hoping you can get that surgery and get back on court asap! Thanks again 😎
@@MyPadelJourneyyeah Im out for 9-12 months post surgery so should be back on court around 39 so going to work hard 😂 going to do some coaching courses to keep my in the sport! Let me know if you’re ever over in Madrid I can hook you up with some good players to play with. Keep up the good work!
Clean those glasses would pobably make a massive difference!
Yeah fair point 👍
Love the video, great analysis of your own game. Shot selection and thus decision making is so key in Padel - I myself sometimes find it hard to be consistent in this area. Any tips other than just reps?
Thanks so much! Yeah i would definitely say...filming really helps. This channel has only come about from me initially filming my game and getting so much out of just seeing how i play. Getting lessons really helps too - plus something like this where i'm able to play a matchplay with Sam and Jake, people at a higher level than you can provide you with great insight along the way - hope that helps, and keep me updated with your journey :)
A defending vibora isn't really a thing, should be a bandeja man. No need te put power; just make sure it's slow and against the glass so you have time to take the net
Thanks for the comment and thoughts man! At a higher level, I personally see a lot of defensive based viboras for sure (I’m not at that level 😂), they are just so good at controlling the pace and spin of the shot. But yeah, 100% see the value in me rocking out some bandejas in order to maintain the net - nice one dude
Fellow leftie here mate....when close to the middle play towards the right corner. It drives right handed players crazy. Vibora is cool and all, but play a flat slow bandeja cross court when not comfortable :)
Love this dude! Thanks for sharing - awesome tip 😎
Loved the video. Cannot wait to see the rest of the journey.
Thank you!! Appreciate you saying that 😎
So relatable and inspiring! Wishing you the best on your journey-keep it up!
Legend! Thanks so much 😊
Hey James great video The editing and the overall video is great My only observation is that you talk about yourself in a downgrading way which is unhealthy For example when you don’t play your vibora low you called it horrendous You got to give your self space for improvement and try to be a bit more like I should work on that instead of calling it bad(even though it was at this situation) There is some Federer/nadal videos talking about self talk during the game which are amazing on that kind of thinking Overall keep up the good work Hope we can have a game at some point if I visit the uk Cheers
Thanks so much for the comment! Really appreciate you taking the time to say what you said too… Yeah I don’t disagree with you in essence based on what you’ve said, maybe if I improve on that it could be something that helps my level of tentativeness in matches maybe? When it comes to myself I am a pretty critical person, I think there is some lack of confidence hidden in there somewhere Thanks for noticing - appreciate it 😊
@ it’s not about being critical of yourself it’s about building confidence though speech not tearing yourself down though the speech
Yeah that’s a fair point! Thanks for sharing , I’ll work on it 😎
Which level is this?
Do you mean level as in what rating?
@@MyPadelJourney Yes please?
We are all super varied tbh, Jake and Sam are GB pros so on the higher end. I haven’t been officially rated yet, but I’m guessing between 4-4.5
@@MyPadelJourneyhi there... are these two guys really pros?
Yeah these guys play for the GB team
I want to see Jake play seriously. He his so smooth. Cool video. As a fat amn in my late thirties with a new hip, I also just started padel.... love it!
So smooth man, sometimes the tournaments he plays are streamed on YT. If you follow him on IG you will get all the updates for it 😎 awesome that you’ve found Padel and love it!
@MyPadelJourney oh nice, I'll look out for them! Yahhh played squash my hole life, but love padel more after 8 months 😁
Ah very cool! Pretty similar to me…played tennis since I was young, found a Padel a couple years back and haven’t played tennis since pretty much 😂 I’ve literally betrayed tennis
Haha thats exactly it! Ive played 1 game of squash since, and disnt enjoybit at all 😅 @MyPadelJourney
Yeah, Jake has an awesome technique and posture and just seems like freewheeling a bit and that he can play a few skill levels higher if he feels like :D
Unreal content!
Massively appreciated - thank you 🙂
Earned a subscription from me 👍 similar story. I’m a Brit living in LA. 39 and also lost like 100lbs in the last few years and recently discovered padel out here
Amazing!! Love this and thank you for commenting/subbing…stay in touch 🙂
Amazing video man! Very inspiring to see your transformation and loving the your analysis of the game. Would like to see more!
Thanks so much! Really appreciate that - more coming for sure 😎
The video shows every time you played on the back hand of your diagonal opponent your scored or had an easy ball to end the point. However most of the points are not on the back hand ;)
Yeah this is true although perhaps one of only 2 lefties I’ve played against in the last 6 months 😂
Cool vid, curious to see your journey. Subscribed!
Ah thank you - massively appreciate that 😎
Good to see a bit of Garrons park!
Ah yeah! You play down there?
great content! love the humor
Thanks so much! Appreciate that 😎
Seen a video of you pop up in the padel school community, good on you for still trying to improve every possible way when ur already ranked #200!
Thanks so much…level gap from myself to the top guys is mammoth! Gotta work on it all 😅
Keep up the great work, looking forward to seeing the journey! Recently started padel within the last 3 months & I'm addicted now too :)
Ah thank you and awesome that you are seriously into Padel. Such a great game 😎
This is fun, keep going!
Thanks so much! 😊
Great video - the music is a bit much though :-)
Thanks! Appreciate you sharing your thoughts too 😎
No way! I was edge of my seat for that 5-4 point at the tie break!!! Amazing stuff!!
Aha that’s what I wanted to hear! Really awesome 💪🏾
Enjoyed the video and had a few laughs aswell! Would've been nice to hear the feedback from the other players too. Subscribed!
Awesome! Glad you had an enjoyable time watching it! Yep that’s a completely fair bit of feedback, appreciate you sharing it
Hi James, fellow player at Rocket Ilford here, enjoyed the video and the commentary, and love that you’re doing this! As a dude in his mid 30s I can relate. Excited to watch your progress. Hope to play you some time.
Hey! Awesome…super cool for you to say that, and great that you can relate! If you see me down there, make sure to come say hi 👋
great video, like you vibora
Thank you!! Appreciate that a lot 😎
Ooh well done James! Paula we met at the padel school Ilford, I’m addicted too!!
Thanks Paula, so addictive isn’t it! Hope to see you with the Padel School guys in the new year 🎾
