After being defeated by a gear failure and heavy weather the last time, I attempt to sail south to the Channel Islands the second time. Underway we face heavy weather once again, have dolphins in our bow wave for the first time, and battle with the huge gennaker sail.

Trapped In a Lighting Storm At Sea | Ep. 4
Переглядів 14 тис.14 днів тому
While sailing down the English Channel I get trapped in a lighting storm front far offshore. From one moment to the other my visuals are reduced to just seeing the bow while huge rain showers and lighting hit my boat. This was one of my hardest nights at sea yet, but was a good training just after the start of my voyage. 📍 Follow live: www.jakoblangsailing.com/tracker/ Instagram: ...

This video really concerns me - northern Europe will never throw anything at a competent yachtperson they can't handle, your plan looks like cape horn backwards - there's no sneaking round the coastline.

Just found your channel, and I am already adicted. I can not get my head around the skills and ambitions you have at 18. In one video we see an ambitious world circumnavigation the hard way, boat management and maintenance, navigation, top class video creation, and editing. Fantastic storytelling. One prediction from a sailor and sailing chanel adict, this will be the biggest sailing channel on youtube! Very well done, I look forwards to following you.

Hallo Jacob. Thanks for your videos. This is good idea to fight again the politic and big companies but if I was C/E and during my voyages across atlantik on the way from Cadiz to Pot Erverglats and back the biggest my problem was to fight against small particels of plastic in the seacooling system of the powerplant of my containervessel! That was 1987!!!!!!! So I think; first of all we have scrap all the plastic sailing- and motorboats on the world . The marinas full of them ! Therfore I built me a steelsailing boat . Fair winds Jacob and enjoy your adventure!

Hello. I just found your channel. I am happy to have found it. I subscribed to it and will follow you faithfully. I am a sailor from earlier years. I have had boats all the way from a 23 foot to 62 feet. I have circumnavigated the world two times both a little different route. Anyway, You take care out there, I will do a marathon tomorrow to watch all your other videos to get up to date and learn more about you. Fairwinds to you.

It looks like you replaced your mast and winches as everything looks new. Smart. Only your fellow sailors appreciate that a sailboat is a floating gym, and working all those halyards will keep you fit. You are inspiring to us all.

Thank you! The rigging, sails, winches and engine were actually renewed by the pre owner which as one huge point for this boat

What you are not highlighting is that your route is east to west - the most difficult way, against the prevailing winds and currents. Bill Hatfield, one of the oldest people to circumnavigate, also did it that way. You are very brave, Jakob.

Keep doing a great job and stay safe, the dolphins come to support you, please wear your life jacket up front and at night also strap on, someone we know solo sailor, fell overboard with life jacket at night last January, it took an hour to find him as he had a hand held radios on him so sent mayday and he had sadly died, water too cold, Dover near UK

Stay tuned….
