Our Unexpected Adventure with Snakebite Tours🐍🛶💚 (Details In Description)
Go check them out on instagram:
@snakebitetours
They do trips all throughout Southeast Asia not just Cambodia!
So just a little explanation this trip was back at the end of September/ beginning of October, and we titled this video “unexpected adventure” because it was completely unplanned. We were out one night on Pub Street getting some food when we were approached by some people asking if we wanted to go to a house party in the countryside. They were doing a promotional event to get Snakebite going in Siem Reap and needed people for a trial run. At first we were definitely skeptical but we decided to go for it and it ended up being an experience we will never forget and really helped us to dive deeper into the culture and wonder of this beautiful country!
So like I said the first night you will see is us at a house party (Nana’s House) in the countryside just outside of Siem Reap. We were treated to a wonderful dinner complete with BBQ frog, all you could drink beer and rice whiskey, and some traditional Apsara dancing!
Then a few days later we went on an overnight trip to Kampong Khleang which is a small village along the Tonle Sap(largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia). We made stops at a local market, a Buddhist temple to pay our respects during the Pchum Ben holiday, a farm where they make rice whiskey, and Kampong Phluk floating village.

Our Culture Shock in Phnom Penh 🍜🫨

We’ve almost made it 1 month in Phnom Penh!! Things have been crazy here to say the least and we apologize for the long gap between videos. Between our TESOL course and adjusting to a new way of life halfway around the world, we haven’t had the time we thought we would to make our videos. With that being said we were able to put together some videos and pictures of our new life here over the la...

Hey guys! Follow along with us as we travel 11,000 miles from Chicago to Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The whole trip in total took 36 hours (flight time layovers) with three different flights. We also added in our first day in Phnom Penh. We just hopped in a TukTuk and got lost in the city for a few hours. We saw Wat Phnom, Koh Dach island, Silk island, Golden Temple, and Royal Palace. Some things to ...

Very nice apartment. It would be nice if they separate the shower area though.
Wait, you take your shoes off twice?
Very cool traditional experience.
Amazing experience
Great deal. Is it in good neighborhood?
I remembered back in 2001, it took us over 10 hours to get from PP to SR, Sometimes, the rooad suddenly was missing, and the driver had to detour on the rice paddies. It was an adventure. Sometimes, we have to disembark so the taxi can go over a creek (the road was suddenly turned into a body of water, the same road that u ride on today). Some adventure.
Wow, what a change from our experience! It’s so interesting to hear about stories from many years ago. They’ve developed so well but it would be quite the trip to experience what you did!
Tuk tuk always scam people.
U'll have a good time there.
U can dry your clothes inside it will dry, rain proof, and dust proof.
Yes now that it is rainy season, we do dry inside in days we leave. But something about the sun drying makes the clothes feel a bit home-y so we don’t mind!
Where r u going to teach?
We teach at St George International School
A scary name for a tour company !
One of the founders actually got bit by a snake on a tour and that’s somehow they came up with the name!
I went to this temple a few years ago.
It’s gorgeousn
🎉wow
Thank you!
cute
Thank you!

Very nice place and well equipped ! -- Much too much for me by myself however. Half that square footage for just me by myself would be cheaper to cool & easier to keep clean for just me. (I'm old & retired) --- I love the city - it's absolutely stunningly beautiful and offers most everything needed for a comfortable relaxed retirement - very cheap ! People are incredibly friendly - and - speak a lot of ENGLISH - unlike Thailand Indonesia or Vietnam ?!? --- I been watching all Siem Reap I can find. 🙏😂❤👍🍺
You and me both! This country is a gem. I’m glad you like the video. It almost feels too much for two people, but the open space is very nice and we love to keep organized so it helps.
Their knowledge of English is amazing and their friendliness 😊
Nice! What's your salary? Just curious, for comparison 😇✌🏼
It is in the $900-$1200 range!
Hi Nolan and Jazz! Catching up on your last 2 videos this morning. They are both great. I love seeing what your life is like in Cambodia. Really loved the tour video.... how long did the tour last? The entire weekend??? Love you guys.
Do you guys like Cambodia?
Absolutely in love with this country! The friendly locals are a game changer. The 9 months we’ve been here, have not had terrible experiences yet
❤❤❤🇰🇭🇰🇭🇰🇭👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏
❤️
I was going to guess around $400, but $300 isn't bad for that place. Nice kitchen! I'm definitely going to be using IPS when I return to Siem Reap in a few months.
They are very friendly and will do everything they can for your needs. Glad you will be using them❤️
How much did the bus cost guys ?
It was $17 per person!
Very nice video and very helpful. I love your appartment, Some of the other SR channels show really awful appartments with terrible floor plan layouts so I was a bit bummed out. Now I see that you can get decent places for very little.
Yes, it was hard to locate the one, but we didn get to see how others can be. I say we got very lucky as many are as you’re describing 😅 there are many nice ones, as to our surprise as well!
your oils should be in a box away from light
Once we read this comment, we immediately moved them into cabinet in kitchen. Thank you!
What is IPS? What does it stand for?
Independent Property Services!
@@TheCuriousRoamersDo you have their contact number or website?
New sub from US… looking to Khmer New Year and water festival experiences….
We should have filmed the Khmer New Year, it was truly a blast.😁
I hope you love this place compared to US, we have fallen deeply in love and do not plan on moving back!
Beautiful beautiful beautiful
Thank you so much
Wow, your flights are complicated. You can get a direct flight from Seattle or LAX to Phnom Penh.
Yes, we chose the cheapest option so much more chaos😅
Your apartment is so cute and cozy, glad you two are enjoying your new lifestyle! ❤️
Thank you!! 😊
Nice apartment. Har far is your apartment from Pub Street?
It’s about 6 minute motorbike ride and 10-15 minute walk!
Great job on the videos. Good luck finding teaching jobs. I'm moving to Siam Reap in a month and a half
I hope you love it in Siem Reap! It took about a month to find jobs😊
Is there any specific reason you moved from PP to Siem Reap? Thanks for sharing.
Yes, we wanted a more rural feel instead of urban!
nice video! cheers and thanks! the al gore rhythm sent me! :) I will be there in April, and this is just in my price range! Perhaps see you at Angkor Market, haha.
Thank you! We love to hear that, glad you liked it. Hope you enjoy your time in April, it’s worth it😁
About 1,000 thousand years ago, this area is where many stones were cut and moved to build the world famous Angkor Wat. It's unbelievable how the ancient people moved heavy stones without modern machines.
The history is so intriguing. We did not know about the stones being used at the temples! That’s quite a far journey. Unbelievable😮
Wow..I'm envious..that's a sweet setup..love that! I'd do that in a minute.. Did you have to sign a lease?.. Like 4..6..12 months type?.. What's the name of these apts?.. Thanks..enjoyed the beautiful tour guys! Dennis
Thank you!! We did sign a 12 month lease which helped with the monthly price. We found the apartment through IPS
I read another comment about foreigners not being allowed to operate/ drive motor scooters over there?.. Is that true or false?.. I thought that to be odd.. Can you answer this please?.. I've in the Philippines several times and we Americans can buy or rent scooters no problem..plus we can use our US license initially then get their license.
Amazing!!! What beautiful sceneries… after 43 yrs away from my homeland, I’ve a strong urge to go back home to visit my beautiful homeland… Thank you for sharing 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Thank you for watching! Cambodia is such a beautiful country. Hope you get to come back and feel home again🥰
Congratulations on a nice place! In your opinion...Would a single person making $1500 USD a month be able to live a decent life in Siem Reap? Nothing extravagant.
Thanks for watching! And yes absolutely, rent shouldn’t be more than $400 for a decent spot. Food can be cheap depending on location. For two we try not to spend more than $15 per meal. I think with that amount you’ll be comfortable for sure!
I thought that there was a law in Siem Reap that said the foreigners are not allowed to drive motorcycles anywhere?
OH MYY this takes me back! Missing you two 🥺 Come to Vietnam whenever you have the chance, I'll be waiting ;)
We miss you girl! Thank you so much for being persistent 😁 You’re the tour guide for Vietnam so be ready🤣🇻🇳
What a fun adventure!
Definitely was!
Thanks for this beautiful video❤ I will leave my country at the end of the month to live as an expatriate in siem reap. Hope we could meet some day and have a drink. 👍
Thank you for watching! It’s quite an adventure and experience but worth it. And we would be more than happy to!🍻
Your apartment looks amazing and so cheap! Congratulations! I am heading to Cambodia soon and I will definitely check out Siem Reap. Great video. Take care.
Thank you for watching!, Siem reap is definitely worth it. Lots of history. Hope you enjoy your time!
Thanks so much for the reply!
Man that food looks great
It is… come with mom in April and you can try it😋😋
@@TheCuriousRoamers hell ya
Just heads up. During the wet season, the quality of the road home is very important.
Very useful tip! thankfully we began rent in September and was able to observe the effects from rainy season!
Beautiful!❤🎉
🥰
Wowww
Thank you for watching!
Surprised that the rent came at $300… I was thinking this is AT LEAST $1000… wow Siem Reap 😮
Very inexpensive in Asia. Cambodia average salary is 750 per month
Yes, compared to the US it was a huge difference. Like @michaelirish1445 said, the wages are lower and with our teaching jobs it is an appropriate rent amount!
@@michaelirish1445 No, no, no... average workers, like waiters and basic staff, earn $175-225 per month.
@@gsomethingsomething2658 I was stipulating the AVERAGE Not the Waiters WAGE By the one “no” would do fine, even if you don’t think fully before writing
Were is this place plz
Wow!! I love this. Thanks for sharing so much of your journey so far. Me and my girlfriend will be moving to Siem Reap in April from the US! Love seeing other young people doing the move!!
Thank you so much! We are happy to hear there are others, its very challenging but worth it! Don't hesitate to reach out if you guys need any tips or want to hang out! :)
The cliffs and that bridge were terrifying!!
It rumbled our stomachs😆
Looks amazing!! ❤️
It was! Thank you for watching 😄
