What time of year should we do this?
In south Alabama, zone 8, I usually do it mid April-beginning of May. After the new growth has really taken off due to the warmer temps.
If I do this will I sacrifice blooms this season?
Yes, you would not get any blooms on the pinch stems this season.
How often do you water it.?
I have an irrigation system with misters that runs 5 minutes in the morning right before the sun comes up, and 5 minutes at night around 8pm.
Greeting's from Ireland, Nice job, I grow my agapanthus in pots and feed them with tomato food from April to August. They then go into a glasshouse for the winter because we get a lot of rain some winter's and they don't like wet feet.
Hello! Welcome to my channel!😊 I’ve never tried the tomato food. I’ll have to try that next year. Yes, I’ve noticed they’ll turn yellow quick if given too much water.
Your Welcome
Thanks for showing the difference between the spent blooms and the new ones. I am in Atlanta, and zone 8, but I overwintered it in the garage.
You’re welcome! Glad I could help😊 yeah, I can imagine they have a harder time wintering there since y’all get a little colder winter than us typically. I live about 25 minutes from the Florida line, so we rarely get snow or anything.
Thank you for sharing! Everything looks so Beautiful and I love that lantana tree
Thank you so much! ❤️
Your garden is beautiful! I love the hydrangea in the containers !
Thank you so much! It’s my first successful year having macrophyllas in containers.
Just dropping a like and comment to help the algorithm, i just posted a video about my petunias too!
Thank you!! I’ll have to check it out!
Your mom' garden is beautiful!
Thank you so much!❤️

Thank you!!
Always enjoy coming by and checking out your beautiful garden. You have some beautifully put together videos for me to enjoy. Thank you so much for sharing.
Thank you!! I’m so glad you enjoy my content. ❤️ Be on the look out, I’ll be posting a tour of my mom’s garden in the backyard real soon.
I love the brick and shutters on your house 😊. Plants are beautiful as well.
Thank you so much!! The brick we have is called magnolia bay and we went with white mortar.
Too many ummm
Thanks for letting me know, I will try to get better about saying “um” so much.
What a lovely flowers Like 28 My friend, thank you for good sharing Have a good day~
Thank you! I hope you have a great day too.
Beautiful 😍 🤩
Thank you!!
beautiful! will the veronica bloom again?
Thank you! Yes, typically I will cut them about half way to the ground and fertilize with flower tone and then they’ll have another set of blooms around end of July-august
Beautiful garden
Thank you!!❤️
Rachel The plants on your porch are doing so well, love the hydrangeas 💜 Things really change in a short amount of time this time of year. The Society garlic bloom is gorgeous. Everything is great. Love and blessings 💚💛💜💛💚
Thank you so much! It really does change quickly. I love watching it evolve through the seasons.
Gorgeous! I must learn what you fertilize with! I have the same rose in a container that I pruned severely and I want mine to look like yours. I garden in Florida and enjoy Mexican heather and society garlic as well, don't hear much about them! I wish I could have hydrangeas like yours! Happy to have discovered a southern gardener!
I used espoma’s rose tone and iron tone on them when I pruned them in late winter. Highly recommend! I also sprayed them with dormant oil and liquid copper when they first started leafing out. Thank you so much! I’m so glad you found my channel! Welcome!😊 I use the same fertilizing and spraying technique I use on my roses with my hydrangeas.
❤❤
Thank you!!
I’m new to your channel and enjoy your beautiful garden tour I brought two Drift Roses to plant and hope they look as good as yours
Welcome!❤️🌸 thank you so much. I’m sure they will be. I love the drift rose series. They are great roses!
❤❤❤ Beautiful garden
Thank you!!😊
Love your roses!
Thank you!!😊
Yeah I have 30 gardens at memorial Park in New Kensington PA and I use egg yolk and water three egg yolks in a bottle and spray the the hostas when they start coming up it works it keeps the deer and rabbits away so try it okay have a good day my phone keeps going off okay talk to you later bye
I’ll have to try this. Thank you!!
Your front garden is gorgeous Love the big hydrangea that’s blooming on your porch. It’s beautiful. Love and blessings 💚💜💚
Thank you! The hydrangea on the porch I bought this season so it’s a little bit ahead of the landscape hydrangeas. I’ve really been enjoying the vivid colors of it through spring.
We have a lot of hostas so I have to spray with Liquid Fence. I also have to spray my daylilies and summer phlox. It does work😊 Your hydrangeas are going to be gorgeous when they bloom. Love and blessings 💚🩷💚
That is brilliant. I will have to try this. Yes, I’m very excited to see them in bloom. I’m going to upload another tour in May, I’m hoping they’ll be blooming then. 😊
Your garden is beautiful. Love your Japanese maple. We have a large collection of them. We are in Southwest Va. Zone 7. You have a wonderful variety of plants. I did subscribe. Love and blessings 💚💛💚
Thank you so much! I bet your collection is beautiful, too. I would love to find a peach colored variety to plant.
Love your mom's blue hosta.
Thank you❤️ I do too
This plant available layirukka mam
Oh my gosh I love these love a good garden tour. Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful beautiful Garden
Thank you so much. So glad you enjoyed it. ❤️ I’ll be filming a garden tour monthly, so check back soon. 😊
You have the most beautiful roses! All of your plants look amazing.
Aww. Thank you so much 😊
Thank you so much, I’ve been worried about mine. The flowers are still looking good but I noticed something off, the leaves are strange. Rn I’m not at home but when I get there I’ll see if they are curling up or down. I do remember stacking my finger and although it’s not soak wet, it’s humid. I’m really afraid to overwater them
I’m glad this video helped you. Hydrangeas, unless planted in clay soil, are really hard to overwater.
Delicious yummy 😋😋🤤🤤
Yes! I’ve even cut back to 1/2 cup sugar and it makes it a little more tart. Still so good though!
Wow beautiful Plants ^^ Like 1 My friend, thank you for good sharing Have a good relationship
Thank you!
Thank you
You’re welcome!
I just found one of these tonight just about this size for $9 at Lowe’s! This video helps and I’m so excited to overwinter this plant.
That is awesome!! What a great find! Yes, they are beautiful plants, next season you will get to enjoy their beauty.
Limelights get HUGE. I planted mine only two years ago and despite pruning, they are almost 12 ft tall now. Too big. Even the little Limes are tall. They will all need to be transplanted in late Fall. Thinking about lining my rural road with them.
Luckily so far these haven’t gotten too big, yet…. I will be transplanting them this upcoming season though and putting bobo hydrangeas in their place. 12 ft tall?! Ibet yours are beautiful! A hedge of them is gorgeous! I had a hedge in my backyard that I recorded on my channel for 2 growing seasons and it was gorgeous. I am planning to replace next year, but this past winter they came out of dormancy early due to a warm spell and then we dropped into hard freeze temps for 3 days straight. They succumbed to the freeze, sadly. 😞
@@rachelshomeandgarden3348 Hi Rachel, the Bobos sounds gorgeous! I think they are actually prettier than the Limelights because they are less leggy. My limelights grew very quickly and were once beautiful but now they are very leggy, since they are now 12'. I have them planted in a row on each side of a pea gravel entry to a courtyard. Behind them are Emerald Green Arbovitaes, so they all looked very nice together, until now. My plan is to transplant all of the Limelights to the side of the road in front of my cottage. The state does not care. I live in a rural area on a two lane road, so anything I do to beautify the area will be appreciated. :-) I don't want to lose the Limelights but they are just too big! Thank you for your reply. I love your channel!
Yes, I’m excited to see the Bobo’s in action. I think they’ll fit better to scale for sure in the front of my house. I actually just started back doing videos and uploaded a tour video with my plans to redesign my front bed this upcoming spring! 😊 I bet along the drive the limelight’s mixed with the dark of the arborvitae’s are very pretty! Don’t want them scraping cars driving by though, and I’m sure they’re a hassle to prune back to keep from hitting cars at the size they are. Thank you!! It’s viewers like you that made me want to begin uploading new content once again!😊
I'm not sure what you mean by saying the plant gets bushier?? For instance, my LLs tend to have e very large flower heads n will flop over. So I want to encourage more, smaller flower heads. Will pinching the leaves help with getting more, smaller flowers -so they don't flop? Txs
My plan is to propagate and plant rows and rows of them. Not sure how long it will take me. But ive bee recording it all.
That will be beautiful and smell amazing! Great goals!!
I just planted 6 bushes lavender from grocery stire. They takein good. They bloomed. N i can see lits new growth.
I hope they’ve taken off and done wonderfully for you.
I just bought one - I am in zone 8 - Mississippi.
They are beautiful!
was that ANOUK LAVENDER?
No, this variety is called javelin forte lavender
I have this plant in zero 3/4. It bloomed generously in late fall and early winter as a house plant. Not much luck this spring. After watching your video I recognized it was kept too shiny spot. Great plant! Thanks for your tips
You’re welcome! Glad to help! I will need to also update my info, being this was the first growing season it bloomed off season for its average bloom. The second year as a container outside after overwintering in the garage it began to bloom around mid September and bloomed til frost. It went well with my amber and yellow mums for Halloween and fall decor.
It's in plectranthus family
Is that Phenomenal species
It is the Javelin Forte lavender
i loved this video it is perfectly just what i needed thank you very much i bought mona lavender and mine is always surrounded by hummingbirds!!! <3
You’re welcome! I am so glad I could be of help to you! Mine are too, the hummingbirds love them!❤️
Did you have much light in the garage in winter ? Did the leaves die back and did you water it any during winter? I want to get some of these and over winter them too but was curious on how you treated them over winter
Yes, I have 2 windows in my garage, however they were near my door and not the window so it was very indirect as I didn’t want them to get too cold beside the window. The leaves never died back. I rarely watered though, probably once every month or less. They didn’t look very good through the winter, but when the spring came and I took them outside to the heat they took off.
Will the blooms come back after you prune them? Another flush for the season?
Yes! Mine here in south Alabama continuously bloom all summer. I just pruned mine about 3 weeks ago and they’re already back blooming all over the plant.
exactly the info I've been searching for! Beautifully done 🤍
Thank you! I’m so glad I could help!😊
Thank you for the update. I am new to Limelight hydrangeas and was always curious to find out if there was a difference if not pruned to hard, I also want a bushier hedge so will think to stick to light pruning.
You’re welcome! I’m glad I could be of help to you. I will be recording and posting another update of them in full bloom with even more growth in the next couple of weeks.
Wow this is really good. I am looking forward to first bloom of the season with mine.
Thank you! Yes, I don’t think you’ll regret it! This plant has been a great continuous show for me the past 2 seasons. Bonus! It doesn’t even require deadheading.
