I did something similar but used my phone mic and just recorded myself hitting and throwing a large stainless steel mixing bowl, i then threw it into audacity and made a drum break out of it.

How can I do the third step using audacity?

Could you do step 3 in ableton by creating an audio effect rack and just zero the dry signal and have the reverb signal playing on its own?

i used a website called suno that uses text/style of music to generate ai songs and when i put in all of those styles that you said in the begining it generated a song that sounds like its straight from portal 2

Well, chiptune sounds are supposed to be very simple, the easiest circuits to make. That's what the hardware is trying to make so taking samples might just make it less useful.

Great video! Just one question; is the percussion in songs like ‘The Reunion’ also made with the strategies you mentioned in the video, the chopping it up? I really love the sound and it akways sounds very similar in all songs that use it. Another example of that percussion being used is the song ‘Woke up this morning’ by Alabama 3, the remix though. Yoo, I really love the portal 2 soundtrack too and I'm constantly surprised how unique it sounds whenever I listen back through the soundtrack. It really sounds like its own genre. Thanks for the analysis, the ideas you presented give a good starting point for experimenting with stuff that sounds similar. Great video :)
