My dad was in the Navy. Just for a few years not during wartime. And when I was growing up I was on the clogging team and we got to go to the Norfolk Virginia. What do you got permission to go on a naval base. On a flat top. I don't remember the name of the ship because I was young and didn't realize I needed to remember. And that's what I learned how to salute correctly. I'm left-handed so when your left hand is dominant and left eye on all that. I didn't know you're not supposed to general or a high-ranking officer with your left hand. I think I learned the hard way but I learned in the power ranking officer came to my defense because I was a kid but there was an officer ranking less than him is the one that smacked me for saluting the left-handed. And tell the officer that he might be a little bit of trouble for that crap. You should realize children don't always know what they're doing. And I was young. But you only salute with your right hand. Soothing with your left hand is kind of like f you. But anyway I like going on the tour of the flat top it was a interesting. I wish years later I'd have joined the military instead of marrying the devil's daughter. I said no I fought the war home I got married

Decent war film but technically lazy in many ways. The Marines flew Corsairs, the navy flew Wildcats, then Hellcats. The Corsair was an excellent fighter but very tough to trap safely due to forward visibility limits on approach. Marines were carrier qualified but mainly flew from land bases in the Pacific. The fighter squadron's first attack is a dive bombing mission. Not likely. Fighters fly cover for dive bombers, not go bomb themselves. The navy doesn't say "tenshut". They say "attention on deck". Anyhow, an ok war movie but not great on important details and historical accuracy.
