I just wish they'd make a DVD. it's a bit hard to get to one of the classes from the UK!! Can't you see people are screaming out for some DVDS?? I would happily pay top dollar for some DVDS so I can work out at home. come onnnnn
OLK SCHOOL SPIN CLASS Imagine yourself going up a hill crank that little thing in the middle. Going down okay un-crank it AHHHHHHHHHHH! Feel that wind blowing through your hair AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! You like that? You feel that? Your knees feel good? Don't clap your hands its unsafe.....LOL LOL LOL New SKOOL... KTX...GO! GO! GO!, DROP! DROP! DROP! Love it! There is risk in every class [even Yoga]. Everybody b safe, listen to your body, and have fun!
+Snuffy Smif I wish the participants would adjust the resistance. You can see the resistance pad is completely clear of the top of the wheel. Not negative. Just real. Joint receptors need feedback in order for the muscles to fire in correct sequence. Just science.
Who is this instructor?!?! If you know him, please tell him that I've shared this video on Facebook with tons of friends across the nation and we all DESPERATELY want him to travel across the US! Since he can't be everywhere - how about he travel, train other instructors b/c we NEED THIS SPIN CLASS in PORTLAND, OR!!!! Please! Please!! Please!!!
I would kill for a class like this in Brooklyn. You know you need to put out a DVD. There's a def market for spinners who don't wanna ride to Garth Brooks and bs like that.
So someone asked how can you get injured doing this...it is pretty apparent how someone could get injured 1.) those handle bars get slippery when you sweat and it is easy to slip and bust your face on those handlebars. 2.) doing this on the bikes is bad for the crank (bar that holds the pedal on) and could easily break off while bouncing around. 3.) serious injury to the knees can occur when going below 60rpms on a stationary bike. If spin is boring to people then they don't have to do it - there are ways to make a spin class fun and be safe doing it. If you want to dance, do zumba or cardio funk or something. Anyone who does think this is safe has had a complete lack of group exercise training and cycle training. It scares me to think this is a trend in fitness. And as a fitness instructor I have not heard any of my colleagues saying this is a good thing to be doing - just stick with the way it is supposed to be used - if you wouldn't do it while riding outside, don't do it indoors.
Ok fitness pro. You are a negative hater. This hip hop spin is growing in popularity and there's really nothing you can do except applaud people for being active and having FUN while doing it. This spin instructor had quite a following and there have been NO injuries. Sure, it's not for everyone, but the people who opt to do this are achieving aerobic levels which provide a total cardio workout, AND loving it too!!! So stop hating. You probably couldn't keep up with this dude anyway..... Hmmmmm...
+K L I wish the participants would adjust the resistance. You can see the resistance pad is completely clear of the top of the wheel. Not negative. Just real. Joint receptors need feedback in order for the muscles to fire in correct sequence. Just science.
Enough w/the negative comments re: serious spinning & injury; pa-leeze already!! This class took the "boring" spin class up SEVERAL notches. W/more than 1/2 of this country overweight and sedentary - "poo - poo" on you for dissing people having FUN w/exercise. As far as injury potential, I'm sure this instructor stresses core placement and awareness, as well as other tips to lessen the potential for injury. And quite frankly, you can get hurt running, kickboxing or any activity that involves body movement. Let's applaud this fitness leader for getting people off the sofa, and moving. You never know...maybe "serious" cycling will follow. But if not.."You get your sweat on w/Keith!" Cheers :)
I want to thank you for this comment, I actually will be getting my bike soon and he is the reason why I want to do this. For so many years I tried to get fit, and I will not go into the amount of money I have spent on equipment. So, anything that will allow me to save money, and get the exercise that I need at home is a much improvement then what I am doing at this present time. I have seen so many other spinning classes on youtube, and they are something that I would cringe going to. I like the upbeat of this class, and if you view his video, it has got to be a hard class if a fan is blowing on you, and you are drenched in sweat.

Those who find this to be a good workout, understand little about fitness nor the level of conditioning that can be achieved on a bike when training and riding properly. Further, the mere fact that one would consider this safe, displays their void of any training concepts nor understanding of proper alignment, joint articulation, and muscle function. Sadly, the effects of such lunacy will show themselves much later when the individual is both left unsatisfied with the level of fitness they achieved for the effort put forth, and is now nursing an overuse injury facing permanent joint damage. Have fun.
I have to imagine these people merely want to lose weight, not reach some sort of peak performance conditioning with a bike. I think they do it as a high intensity exercise for short bursts rather than for a long period of time, which should help make it less of a joint issue. It's more cardio than cycle conditioning.
jakewastaken I appreciate your comment. This has nothing to do with peak performance condition in any form. Besides the fact that there is a more effective way for people to lose weight and gain the health and conditioning they want, these moves are considered contraindicated because they place joints at risk. If they are performing these movements at high intensity as you assume, that would be even more detrimental. Besides the safety risks and irresponsibility of the instructor and facility, these movements would be 10x more effective if performed on a dance floor. The fact that they can do this on a bike indicates that resistance is low (also a major red flag for injury), and is sadly a waste of much conditioning, fat burning, etc. that could have been achieved. This is yet another demonstration of lack of fitness and cycling training, which is watering down the industry.
Love love this! My kind of spinn. This I workout in every form of work out I need music that will make me wamt to shake my.. body ! And it is so rate to find instructor like this! Love this man lobe what he does and the vigor he puts into it

Mjruck1102, I'm not sure what you mean this is ridiculous. This trainer has his own creative style & it's a gift to be & do thgs differently sometimes. Also, if you say someone will get injured, please state how & why bc I don't see how they would. Thx! :-* Everytime I attempted or saw a Cycling class, I would turn down bc it looked so boring! But baby this right here made me want to jump in through the screen! Lol!

This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen in my life!!!! This has nothing to do with Spinning®. Spinning® is a trademarked name and incorporates serious cycling & heart rate training. Someone is going to get injured!!!
