I’m not agree with you. I did a few races and it was more fair play than open lobbies.

I think it can really be hit or miss, it's such a shame that people can't just focus on breaking for the first few turns and let the race settle down. But it's always tough when you seem to be in the wrong place at the wrong time! I've had a few of those!

That could be helpful, especially for admins to issue penalties etc! Not sure if console players could be trusted with live chat :D

Hi, just going to set up a server for practicing pitstops, will start streaming early for it.

There is a rating system but it will take time to sort people where they need to be. Everyone is welcome! We just need patients for the first few weeks while it slowly filters everyone where they can get good races.

@@GopherCR thanks … yeah, I’m patient, just don’t want to get in peoples way lol. I’m a bit daunted with deciding what car to use .. and all the talk of setups. But I guess at the back I can just use the Ferrari 263 with a stock setup … I want to practice race craft more than get to deep into setup etc.

@@TheTechnobear Sounds like a good way forward, I'd find a car you're comfortable in and do some single player races, start mid grid, and up the AI until it's a little challenging. That can be a good way to start. (You can turn off rating changes for offline races too if you want to practice without worry of collisions effecting rating)

If you join the coach Dave discord (think you're already there, and use the 'ask an admin' channel. They should be able to see why. Then come and reply how we fixed it here so others can find out? I wonder if you've registered them on different discord accounts?

Great Idea, I will get onto that video, then onto another getting started on ACC.

Nice idea, I think that's a great way to look at it. As there could be faster racers behind and slower racers ahead. I normally 'try' to have the mind set of my close race is the driver in front and behind, then if I overtake, I start again, my race is the one in front or behind. Rather than thinking my race is with the people much higher on the grid.

Excellent points btw. That's pretty much what I've been doing. Assessing how they drive in close proximity.

Thanks, yes, there are great things to come and they are very much all about the updates now. As with all software it's not quite a smooth release, but it's getting there quickly.

Yes a faff. But worth it. ACC on pc works fine, we got a port on console, so they have little interest (and not able) to add/change features. So we would never get anything more than the competition server direct in the game. This Seasons feature is a great breath of fresh air.

I was using fri3dolf for these last few streams. I prefer them to the game basics, but there could be some better ones out there. Id also do some searching and just try some different ones!

I don't if we could stop you lord Vader! But yes you can! I would recommend doing some laps around circuits you know to get a little understanding. You could always start from the pits.. I'm planning on doing another getting started video for Seasons to help new players out!

I’ve registered with SimGrid now, now it’s just a case of overcoming the nerves and actually committing to registering for a race !! Even ‘over here’ on the Darkside we still have beginner anxiety 😉.

It's given me a new lease of life for racing too! Although it's going to be interesting to do 3 45m races tonight, not use to that!

Yes, this is a great move from SimGrid. Hopefully as the numbers improve we can also get some area specific servers so you folks can have some great connections as well as us in Europe.

@@GopherCR true. My ping not so bad though when i race EU player, always around 98, not the best but not the worst 😅

@@jean-francoisrenaud8389 We were talking about this on my stream last night, ping isn't the be all and end all, but under 100 is good enough for racing! 250+ and you might want to give folks a little more space.

Yes, that's the one. They are increasing this time to 5 minutes now though, to give us more time to find and enter the server.

Ha, I do make sounds while my brain thinks. If only I could multi task! This is different to normal online as you will be matched with similar people straight away (once lots of people join), and people are joining for a good race experience. The open lobbies are often very chaotic, we have our moments here too, but it should settle down. Glad it's been helpful. The longer races due soon will add a pit stop too, which adds a lot to the immersion of the racing. Great things ahead, welcome to the channel!

People who are only causally playing the game prob don’t know abt simgrid , so it should have a higher concentration of faster people compared to normal lobbies

Good question, the biggest advantage with a bigger player base you will be matched with similar paced drivers. Rather than random people just trying a game out, so the racing should be better straight away. It's still set ups, that's the base game so we won't get away from that. You will also be able to report people soon that will mean reckless drivers will be removed from the platform. Making the system cleaner for everyone.

The quick races are free for all, and you will get very limited access to the others, but sounds like you could make it work to enter all races in a season on the free pass, but it will be more 1 shot rather than multiple attempts! Some things are worth paying for, as we are getting a lot of support from them too!

The server infrastructure costs money to maintain, this is why leagues will often have some fees too. The Quick Races are free for all to enter though!

@@danardisimracing Yes to this, and none of this cost is covered by game sales like other games (GT7/Forza) because it's not the game company running the league.

I don't mind the small fee per month. I'm just glad someone has finally brought something like LFM for consoles.

I think I was just playing to see what difference it makes! I like seeing more as the screen in front of me is small, when I drive in real life you get peripheral vision so I was just trying to add in a little more on my monitor! But go with what looks great/works for you, there are many FOV videos out there for the 'best' settings too!

This is a good question and may be something I look at for a few ACC streams/time trial lobbies etc. As I want to get better too!

My streaming has been a little sporadic so never easy to know. I'm hoping to get something a little more regular going, but as it's just a hobby for me currently it has to fit in around life!

I thought I had replied to this one! GT4 isn't something I've invested a lot of time in yet. My only advice at the moment would be to search out some online setups, or ones on UA-cam and give them a go.

Hi Stampie! It was a good battle, I caught someone and knocked them into the barrier so waited up, I need to try and get back on but not sure I'll have time this week now. It's a good combo for me!

It means you can't refuel during a live pit stop, if you exit to the pits and setup, then you can change fuel loads. It's more a warning for the race rather than practice/qualifying.
