Join me as I take a look at the Lotus Eletre. It's been 70 years since Colin Chapman founded Lotus in his garage to design sports cars and I think you'll agree, he did a pretty good job! Now, Lotus is know for their mantra 'simplify then add lightness'. See how they've got on with the Eletre, where lightness isn't so much possible. Thanks to the @TheHendyGroup for the support and for lending us...
Paul Jepson: Understanding rewilding
Переглядів 2077 місяців тому
You may or may not know that we are now in the middle of United Nations decade on Ecosystem restoration to revive the worlds damaged ecosystems. However, I’m pretty sure you will have heard about ‘rewilding’. But what is rewilding exactly? Is it no mow May? Is it letting a corner of the garden get a little out of hand? Or, perhaps is it bigger than that, the reintroduction of beaver or bison fo...
George Ford: Beef production is a hot topic. Is regenerative farming the answer?
Переглядів 1817 місяців тому
With veganism on the rise and so much negativity about meat production we felt the urge to talk to a farmer. And our guest this week is inspiring. Now in it’s sixth generation, George is leading the way for transparency, sustai...

Paul Lister: Founder of the European Nature Trust on over population and reintroducing wolves
Переглядів 2588 місяців тому
This week's guest has been ferocious in his determination to make a difference. Often at times controversial, he has sparked the debate on whether to reintroduce wolves to Scotland, he is a 'doer', whether it is creating awareness of conservation issues in Belize to founding the European Nature Trust or rewinding the Alladale Estate in Scotland, Paul’s extraordinary energy is focused on his mis...

Electric car batteries - from battery degradation to cobalt mining. We ask an expert!

There's a lot of controversy and mis information surrounding batteries for electric vehicles, so we thought it was about time we asked an expert - time to separate fact from fiction. Dr Euan McTurk is a consultant battery electrochemist, so knows a thing or two about batteries and clearly the best person to ask about all areas of EV batteries, including degradation and the mining of the compoun...

Turtle Mode - what a great idea on a motorway with a 70mph limit... No danger of an accident or road rage there at all :(
NICE review! If I were lucky enough to buy a 2024 I-Pace I'd insist on the dealer changing the grill to the original which looks a TON better. Why on EARTH would JLR play around with a near perfect Ian Callum design??? Would it be for better aerodynamics? Better battery management ? Whatever, they messed up :-) Otherwise a really BRILLIANT and beautiful car.
Is this the site for red necks?
I once saw a Subaru Forester...And it reminded me of you! :)
Long story short, EVs are expensive garbage.
Yet another review from someone who has no idea whatsoever about motor vehicles!
Philippa. If we are doing EV reviews, then why cant we mention electronic opening boot doors? Waste of precious energy and also the weight of a needless motor. Screens on needlessly using energy.. Even electric wndows.. Yes, it has been accepted over the past 30 years to have on any car, but again... when energy and weight are so precious, then why not refert back to the lighter, and may i say more reliable...'Keep fit' wind down windows?
Eloquent & informative as ever 👍🏻
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
We all know EV is crap
I have been passionate about electric vehicles since I was a child. I didn't have many opportunities in life to advance in this world, but little by little I started working with electric bikes, electric scooters, electric motorcycles and now my dream is to work with electric cars! Today I have an electric scooter maintenance workshop, DSBBIKESELETRICAS, in my city and I love this world!
It would be nice if technology would some time in the future provide us with a potent battery small enough to replenish an empty EV, just like we do with a can of gas today when somebody runs out of fuel.
If you can't modulate your start off speed with your right foot, then you shouldn't really be driving
When are we going on a date gorgeous ?
In 2023 there was 41,404,589 vehicles on the road, and only 1 million of them vehicles was a EV
A friend of ours with an ICE vehicle just had bad service done that left her stranded! I have had 3 EV’s so far with nothing in service except software and tires starting with a 2014 Ford Focus EV!
Would running out of power 🔋 effect the vehicles batteries ? .
Great review Phillipa, my wife’s is on its way in October.
please can you try a porche taycan like what the macmaster owns he's a vlogger on youtube he hates it and the ev infrastructure
Interesting video 👍👍
Sweet review, makes you want one, doesn't it? 😉
Good to see Carpool again. You'll have to get Robert back on. Thanks for the vid. I'm looking forward to the next.
I find EVs interesting. I'm an EE by training. There are many good features in regenerating batteries by capturing otherwise lose energy. But I would not want a full EV, instead a range extender or a hybrid tranny is my preference. At least until battery technology and charging means become more common.
Wonderful presentation! Thank you very much for sharing! Bravo!
Why does he keep saying EV vehicles. I've just been quoted £470 for a service on my 2020 Hyundai Ioniq
How much in us dollars ????????
I'll quit driving my ice vehicles when they pry my cold dead hands off the steering wheel!!!!!!😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
Been an industrial electrician for 40 years. Have seen what explosive 4oo to 800 volts shorts will do. As plastic insulation degrades with time combined with salt spray inevitable will happen.
Ugh those special silicone insulated orange high voltage wires with that plastic plug that will flash over when wet with saltwater. Certain doom down the road

Had my Renault Mégane electric for a week now and loving it . Keep up the good work Phillippa keeping us informed thank you
MY first car was an old R reg Golf (mk1 ). My second car was a White Mk1 Ford Fiesta.
These little Philippa and Pete chats ,work very nicely any chance of expanding into a double hander?.
I loved to drive the Eny1 but at the End, we went for an HRV the charging speed is not ok, and with no PV Charging possibility at Home, so slow Charging is an No go, at least for me. Please excuse my bad English. Kind Regards from Germany
Plz don't teach the customer it's of no use
Regenerative breaking and the regular braking is not same
They are new for now the complication will not come yet but as it start to get old the u will have more complex issues
Stumbled on this as I've been re-visiting my childhood. Just saying you and the rest of the cast of Robot Wars made my childhood! Thank you so much. I didn't have the best childhood and thankfully those people who made it rough aren't really part of my life anymore. What got me through was TV and Robot Wars was a big part. Never forget the positive impact you and the cast had with millions of people's childhood!
Brilliant mind and big heart that F K has! And hey, Buffalo bike IS the best bike in the world!
Very helpful 👌🏽
Never mind that piece of crap, there’s a V8 F type parked next to it, that’s the only jaguar worth buying.
You can also ask the car to set temperature and seat heating by say ‘Hey Jaguar’
Probably does make sense to a woman going to the shops and back😂
Buy one with kilometers. You get more of those for the same price.
They come with a generator: there Goes net-zero with your electric cat (Well, your electric car is mostly filled with ‘Grey’ electric)
We just cannot do without fossil fuel, end of story
Unless you live in a region with gobs of hydro or nuclear. I own enough land to install solar and store it to later recharge a EV. I also have access to light sweet crude and could use it in an older diesel. I don't want to take the trouble to grow green diesel. Use what works. It's a regional availability game.
EVs less likely to run out because if you have home charge you start with “full tank” every day unlike gas. THAT is the convenience
Yes it’s a good reason for you not to own an EV. The intellectual mindset required exceeds your brain capacity
Don't get into that situation don't buy an EV
All cars run out of fuel if you do not 'top them up' - I've had no issues for a long time with running out of fuel. Keep it between 20% and 80% and you will never have an issue
