I can't unhear K&L 765.

I just found out a few days ago that the Soo Line 2718 and the LS&I 24 were operational in steam at the museum until sometime in the '80s.

Wow, not just the Mid-Continent Railway Museum (and as someone mentioned, footage of No. 9 in steam there is pretty rare!), but some great classic Amtrak/Soo Line footage as well as the R&GN in the early days of its "preservation" era!

117 is still in freight service today.

I was there but can't pick myself out of the crowd at this resolution. The depot on the right at the start was torn down two years ago.

This video is from around 1990 just after BB 4017 was repainted black and steamers were aligned in order to build a Roundhouse section connected to the new Lenfestey Center. And Milwaukee 261 was leased to Friends of 261 in St. Paul in 1992. I Steven was the Official Tour Guide and full time paid employee and Train Conductor when the old orange ALCO switcher no. 10 was built in 1953 for the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in the MANISTIQUE AND LAKE SUPERIOR RR. ALCO 10 was pulling the CNW 7411 Combine built in 1915 for Chicago commuter pool. Also the NRRM was run by Outside Managers who sold some engines and cars. But sadly scrapped 10 other freight cars like the ATSF AUTOBOX 9714. ALSO, sadly, the Milwaukee Road 38A diesel E9a was Scrapped I'm 2009. But there were volunteers ready to rebuild it, and use 38a for mainline excursions!! This was a sad and Tragic loss. Also in the HOOD JUNCTION STATION was the H.O. MODEL RAILROAD CLUB; BUT SADLY, the manager in 2009 Forcefully Evicted them and they were forced to move to the library basement in East De Pere. NRRM formerly had 93 pieces that is very close to 100 pieces that was a Grand and Noble Goal. But after 37 pieces were either sold like Milwaukee 261, or Scrapped like the E9a diesel they fell back to only 56 pieces. But the managers were frequently fired !! Then replaced by other managers but who never had any railroad experience!! Thus the NRRM has suffered GREATLY ever since 1980. The NRRM was formerly a world leader for railroad preservation. But suffered for the Past 42 YEARS!!!!! YET, WE, THE RAILROAD FANS OF WISCONSIN, Want to replace the bad managers; and rebuild the NRRM back into the World Famous NATIONAL RAILROAD MUSEUM!!!!! This one is my new favorite. The coal train in the beginning is in Plymouth MI. This is the second instance that he caught a coal drag backing east to go west. I believe they went north across the diamond then backed around the northeast wye, then proceeded west. Not sure why they did this, but an interesting operation to witness! I witnessed it my self once as a kid and have since wondered how often it happened and why. Thanks for posting.

Wow! Nice catch. Early days for CSX there with the "gray ghost" paint scheme and loco still painted for Seaboard System (always a favorite of mine). Really nice F units, as well, but odd to pair those with SD-40s for a coal drag. Just wow.

Cool to see C&O 904143 working the local in Plymouth in 1988. This caboose was still working Plymouth as late as 2017 I believe!

This video is one of my favorites so far. Too bad they didn't use those F units as pushers instead of lashing them on the head end. Nice shot of the caboose being shoved toward the diamond as well.
