You can cut leaves from the same field you are going to harvest the dasheen from , the only thing the dasheen will have a lower starch content. The field is maintain the same way that you would maintain any field .

@@aguasantafarmhomesteadnatu840 well basically i just bought it from La Vega last month. I have it in a pot. Sandy soil and in partial shade. In full sun it started to wither.

@@candacesmith9517 ok from my experience it grow better in partial sun but it should be able to servive in direct sunlight also , once provided that it was properly well rooted and established before it was sold to you . The soil should not be over sandy but have somewhat of a sandy consistency,to it for proper drainage. A little bit of well cured sheep or goat manure and some blue corn fetilizer should be adequate.

Firstly trim down your field and treat it with Zampro or Carbendazim every 7 days until you get it under control. But also a quick note the problem might never be really eradicated because it caused by a pathogen call (Phytophthor) which my be in the environment, but it can be significantly controlled.

@@aguasantafarmhomesteadnatu840 So my corn got an infestation of Corn Army worms , peppers got a mite then a few of the plants dried down after looking healthy 2 days prior. I also have issues with cabbage worms and a black caterpillar/worms on my kale .

For the corn amyworms use Thiolarv , for the mite infestation use Cure , and drench the plant with Acrobat because most likely it a soil born fungus your dealing with.

Dasheen is not edooes leaf , they are all from the taro family but the dasheen corm is larger and the leaf is more desired to make bargi.

Eddo and dasheen are both root vegetables and have many uses like the potato family.Both their leaves are cooked to perfection with coconut milk and any salted meat or shrimp.Best serve with plain cook rice.Enjoy my friend.
