Said Aouita Breaks 5000m World Record Bislett Games Oslo 1985
Lol dear old Ron pickering, had no comprehension of the time he was going to run, it was obvious with 2 laps to go that he would smash the record, but Ron dismissevely suggested we should look for the UK record at 13:14
I love the USA and have wonderful American relatives and friends, but the desperate need to win all the time in sport, business and combat is their big weakness. Its probably rooted in insecurity being a relative upstart at only 250 years old. Anyway they'll get over it in time and realise that failure teaches valuable lessons and makes eventual success all the sweeter. Obviously Zola was blameless here. Only a fool would believe otherwise. Today's athletes are trained differently and can block out negativity. A modern Zola equivalent would refocus, win emphatically, smile derisively at the booing buffoons and collect on their massive sponsorship deals.
I remember all the negative propaganda against Zola Budd which made most people feel bad about Mary Decker including myself. I now realize how much damage the media can cause. Zola Budd was a victim period. Mary Decker was arrogant and on top of that made a scene in front of the cameras just because things did not go her way. In a race when you are boxed in you just have to wait for the right moment to try to break free. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't but you cannot interfere with the runner in front of you as simple as that.
❤ Bless 🙏 Save The Rhino
Zola Budd should have been wearing spikes. Had she been wearing spikes her careless placement of her feet would have been or should have been proper, meaning intentional reckless running, thus deliberatley spoiling the race. Made me sick then, makes me sick now.
you can tell by his stride he's casually running at 6:15-6-30 pace
Watching her run is absolute torture
Yesterday I ran 16 miles and I had my locs in a bun. My neck was sooo sore afterwards
Zola Budd DID NOT trip Mary Decker.
Probably Foster’s greatest championship performance given the 60 second lap mid race and the final time only just outside the world record. Notable was Viren turning away when the gold medal was presented and not clapping.
Thank you
A great athlete for sure !
I blame Decker for not having the guts to get back up and race even if futile. Winners never quit.
In 1968 after the Olympics, Zatopek gave Ron Clarke one of his Gold medals
Too many people in bars wanted to buy Henry a drink, but Henry was in too many bars.
To Be Frank Brenda Foster and the *Foster Splurge* was my first memory of a splendid hard-working long distance running at a time when many great long-distance racers were around in the mid 1970s. A very likeable true Gent with absolutely no arrogance Xx
Alien Secretariats
From the footage it is clear cut Decker was the “mampara” The untouchable and then lay “makeup” crying on the deck 😢
Disgraceful that you would blame Budd. Shame on you.
Decker stepped on Zola Budd's bare heel, driving her spikes into it. Zola Budd didn't have eyes in the back of her head. Decker was boxed in. She tried to pass on the inside. She caused the trainwreck.
My parents remember watching this they told me that it was really sad bc the collision was just an accident. But the press ripped zola budd to shreds. She even said no bothered to get her side of the story.
Budd did nothing but run forward. As the one behind, it was incumbent upon Decker to avoid contact. She made the mistake that led to her fall.
Looks like Decker’s fault to me, and I’m an American.
Zola Budd should have been banned. I remember the "controversy" at the time on the news but didn't get to see the video (review it again and again) the way you can now on UA-cam. It's very clear that Budd sensed Decker was trying to pass and you can see her thrust her foot abnormally to the left in front of Decker and plant it (actually slowing herself to keep her weight on it longer than normal), the exact thing you do to trip someone who is trying to pull even with you.
Sadly, Americans will be Americans - arrogant, know-it-all and entitled. Bunch of cry-babies!
Their easy run pace is my marathon pace 😂 that's the problem 😔
Mary Dekker Slaney seemed to trip herself up making a failed bid to pass Zola Budd on the inside. Looks like a bad judgement on Mary Dekker Slaneys part.
If only the 64 games had been delayed one year by a global pandemic, he'd have done the 1500, 5000, 10000 triple...
i was there.
Decker had a nice trip… 😂😂.. Budd did nothing wrong..
Decker … Decked herself..
Decker Hit The Deck… 😂😂..
There are spikes on those shoes to grip the track. To save distance the runners moved inner lane. Zola defied everything with having bare feet. Imagine this if one of other runners including Mary would have stepped on Zola’s feet. Then it would have been , “ Oh she was trying to injure her blah blah”. But being it was highly political charged thing with Apartheid and all this was just one of the Olympic dramas of history that played out in media and society for quite awhile.
I remember watching this race on TV and thought Mary Decker was responsible for her own fall but everybody was trying to place the blame on the South African runner Zola Budd because back then white South Africans were the "bad guys".
Who tripped who?
Are you back vegan bro? I haven't seen any of your videos recently are you ok? 🙏
The Title shoujld be: When Mary Decker tripped Zola Budd!!
That runner from the USA Mary Decker has got a rather great pair of legs.
After 40 long years I learnt that Zola wasn't the culprit.
Why are all the sexist comments saying that women can't run or drive straight!? 😡
don't these guys know how to speak english? pathetic.
Such a nice guy 1982 was his great year that sun 3:50 mile that 3000m Run & this Effort this night he was unbeatable! I used to watch him come to NZ & race the Local Hero John Walker he was always nice to all the kids like me etc even if JW had beaten him ! I just wish he had been at his best in those 1984 Olympics the 5000m but we can’t have it all no one ever has a bad word about this man & so underrated because of Ovett Coe & Cram
He was a Champion but that University made him run to many races like 1978 his great year that 4 world records he competed in over 40 races omg 40 from there on he was never the same Athlete again
Surely they had a car to drive him "to" the races.🤣
Dung cam was de strijd met nemy Zonder oplettend op landsgenoot Das was thuong ban. Me n you no 2 a true
Big Bren. Gutsy and talented. He's still one of the best ever ❤
Wendy Sly - #151 white uniform? Mary Decker - #373 red uniform? Maricica Puica- #316 Yellow top, blue bottom It's hard for me to say from watching this how much the fault was Mary Decker's or Wendy Sly's. Did Sly pull over in front of Decker causing the collision? With automobiles, in my country (the U.S.) if you pull across in front of someone, then a rear-end collision *can* be the fault of the car in front. But I don't know the rules of track.
no budd (britain) 151 - sly (britain) same outfit 175 - budd was dq'd but then it was reversed.
@@mrgobrien Thanks, the channel owner should have explained who was who instead of assuming we would know.
No doubt down to better testing
Haha maybe
Id really like to watch the sayed chasing kipxjoge videos. But I can’t find that playlist and the channel chasing kipchoge videos are not there
