That's not a big deal if you open the cage regularly for other reasons thath don't involve feeding.

This just isn't true, my retic knows the difference between handling and feeding time. While this may not be true for all individuals, most snakes can switch out of feeding mode once taken out. P.S. Snakes don't have a "hunting ground" they are opportunistic and don't actively hunt. Hope you learned something, please feel encouraged to respond with your own experiences. His snake is an arboreal species. I highly doubt it's gonna get impacted. Especially since it won't be on the ground much. Impaction in snakes is rare anyways and not that big of an issue, if it worries you that much, just use paper towel as substrate. BTW I'm not saying taking your snake out of its enclosure to feed is harmful, I'm just saying it's unnecessary and is not beneficial in any way.

The amazons eat up in the air or dangling from their tree perch so they arent near their substrate. I feed mine in the enclosure. When i want to hold them i gently touch them from behind and they know it isnt feeding time. They do like skinny branches as well to hold on to while feeding.
