Chapel | Brandon Myers | Titus 2:7-9
This chapel message, delivered by Rev. Brandon Myers of Christ the King Reformed Baptist Church in Niles, IL, emphasizes the critical importance of courage and conviction in pastoral ministry, drawing primarily from Titus 1:7-9. He stresses that pastoral candidates must not only possess character but also the courage to firmly uphold sound doctrine and refute false teachings. Using personal anecdotes and biblical references, he illustrates the need for pastors to be deeply immersed in Scripture and willing to speak truth in love, even when facing opposition. His message cautioned against entering pastoral ministry lightly and encouraged our seminary students to cultivate courage and biblical conviction during their studies. While emphasizing the need for courage, he also highlights the importance of gentleness and patience in correction, citing 2 Timothy 2:24-26, concluding with a call for aspiring pastors to be men of character, conviction, and courage, remaining faithful to God's word regardless of church growth metrics.

Just a heads up based on your title - it doesnt matter how "well crafted" your story is. The epic of Gilgamesh is one of the most well crafted stories of all time, but that has no bearing on its truth value. You need empirical evidence, or no one who has any semblance of valid epistemology will care.

This guy was 35 when he started his dehumanization . In a recent article at Ref21 Carl Trueman points out the uncomfortable reality that for Americans under the age of 35, "gay marriage is not even an issue." As much as I would like for that not to be true, it is inescapable. Trueman also observes that for those of his generation opposition to gay marriage usually has more to do with being weirded out (my own technical phrase) by homosexuality than zeal for biblical sexual ethics. The "generational divide," Trueman writes, "indicate clear challenges to come. The list of such is no doubt long but here are a few:

It's strage that a christian would not want a christian nation. The muslim belives that his ideas is what's best for the world as well as the secularists. One can disagree Wolfes version but still agree that the true God speaks both to the church and to the civil magistrate and both are responsible to him WCF 23 and Belgic confession 36. "For that purpose he has placed the sword in the hands of the government, to punish evil people and protect the good. And being called in this manner to contribute to the advancement of a society that is pleasing to God, the civil rulers have the task, subject to God’s law, of removing every obstacle to the preaching of the gospel and to every aspect of divine worship."

It's rather odd that so many thought Jesus had two natures. The Bible does not present him that way. His miracles were from the Father working in and through him. He never took credit for his miracles, but always deferred it to the Father. "Do not believe me unless I do the works of my Father. But if I do them, even though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father” (John 10:37-38). He was given the Holy Spirit without measure, so the Father worked through the Holy Spirit. The Kenosis theory is more accurate in that he left his divine attributes when he became a man. What was deity in Jesus? His identity as the Logos did not change in the Incarnation, so he was always deity. Now in his exalted state he has all attributes back again.

Sorry, but “loving our enemies” does not preclude opposing them, in extreme situations, even forcefully. I don’t particularly like Wolfe’s prescription for what ails us, but at least he’s making one. Strange is not doing so. He doesn’t think we’re that bad off. I guess we’ll all find out. But I don’t give him much chance of being right.

Unfortunately, Mrs. Strickland's presentation just reinforces the commonly held believe in evangelical churches that it is the husbands who are abusive to their wives, that evangelical wives are never responsible for abusing their husbands. The truth is that countless wives in churches daily emasculate their husbands, find fault with everything they do, shut them off from sex as a means of manipulation and control, run the husband down with terrible man-hating comments, lie to their pastors when the husband has had enough and exposes them, act toward their husband like their thoughts and positions are the only one worthy of discussion - the husband just needs to be quiet. Countless evangelical wives are constantly trying to beat their husband's God -ordained headship away from them so they can have it. It's always ok for the wife to completely lose it, screaming at the husband, having a meltdown whenever she isn't getting her way, etc. You want to talk about someone being an oppressor ? Millions of husbands in and outside the church are slowly dying inside because the come home after work every day to a bitchy, entitled, crazy woman. Keep up the good work, guest speakers !! Remember to never mention the guilt of evangelical wives for their sins.
