Welcome to the VC. Pretty good review, I am most likely twice your age and have been following the Cure for decades. This album I have been slow in picking up, expensive and just not sure if I’m wanting more depressing music?? Oh well soon….cheers.

It's certainly a more downbeat album, but "Drone:No Drone" and "All I Ever Am" provide a bit of upbeat variety. This album is a grower, it didn't make as much of an impression at first, it took a number of listens. Great to hear you've been with them for decades; have you seen them live and when was your first show?

@everylastoneeverylastone I did get the opportunity to see the Cure in concert and that night became an all nighter of drinking and partying untill dawn with the lads. In the mid 1980's I was close friends with a British man who worked with me at the time. Paul had grown up with Robert Smith and one other member and were high school mates, the Cure were coming to town in 87' and Paul actively began to reach out to Robert to met up and hang out. Contact was made and Paul and I got backstage after the show, this became a huge reunion and drinking mess which was one amazing highlight of my youth. So yes I have both seen them and partied with them, never saw any other shows after and in the early 90's Paul moved back to London. Cheers 🥂

@@Chalskimusic That's a great story, and I'd imagine it was wild as 1987 was the era when "Fascination Street" was inspired by and written after a night of heavy drinking. The only member I met was Roger O'Donnell in 2004. Robert would be a great person to share a drink with in a pub.

My stone one is a lot darker than that and not noisy, but very warped.

I agree about the production. Good songs, but mixed way too loud. I listened to it low and then I wanted it louder. When I made it louder, it was distorted and hurt my ears. It sounded better live actually when they did their concert on the day of the release. After the second track, the album is a solid listen. Favorite tracks are A Fragile Thing and I Can Never Say Goodbye.

Agreed on the Troxy gig, in particular the version of Endsong with that Reeves solo was incredible.
