    I can't thank these good men enough. So many miracles lined up to keep me alive. Without the help of God and this great rescue team, I would not be here today. 3 of us were buried and all survived. My group was frantically looking for me. As the other group showed up. It is extremely rare that a successful rescue happens from a secondary group. I will never forget this day. And this great group of men that rescued me. I think about it everyday.

      It's usually not bad. If you have the right clothing you get hot far more than you get cold. If you just trail ride then yeah it's a bit cold you will want insulated stuff.

    So happy to see everyone was ok! Going along with the theme that this video will be used as a "lessons learned" one thing we noticed was that 911 should have been called immediately once the they realized there was an avalanche with a burial. Obviously if there is only one person searching and digging you don't waste time on the phone, but with that large a group, the ideal move would have been to assign one person the job of communicating with 911 and SAR. After all, many Avalanche deaths are due to trauma, not suffocation. You just never know and getting even a few minute head start with an extraction could make a difference, especially in cases of internal bleeding, shock, hypothermia, etc. Of course, that's easy analysis here from my office chair, much harder in real-life, (so I'm definitely not judging!!) but it further highlights importance of practicing and running rescue drills.

      Thanks for the comment. That was my idea as well, I wasn't in charge of the situation so it didn't happen. Luckly him and the others where ok to ride out. If it had gone differently we would have definitely wished we had a head start. I appreciate you and everyone else who has shown support for the situation.

    I cannot help but be concerned how many AIARE procedures are tossed aside as this group performs this rescue. This video would make a good case study. Glad the snowmobiler survived.

    Man insane I never had to rescue or got caught in a slide but we would come from Iowa not use to the mountains so we would literally have someone bury a beacon just so we could practice every morning before we went out. You might think it’s dumb but it’s not

    • @MountainWolf-ut
      @MountainWolf-ut 8 місяців тому

      We did that a lot as well to practice. It's not dumb it's actually quite smart

  • @skylermummert24

    That’s insane and awesome work, good thing everyone had the proper gear or that could have been a lot worse. Looks like he got buried even with an avy bag crazy

  • @daineclark
    @daineclark 8 місяців тому

    Man good work knowing how to use the gear and even thinking to give him a blessing right there on the spot. So did the other two not get buried? Or did the other two’s Avy bags keep them on top and just the 3rd fella was buried?

    • @MountainWolf-ut
      @MountainWolf-ut 8 місяців тому

      One of the others pulled his bag and was mostly on top and able to get out on his own. The other was completely covered but 2 members of the other group found him and got him out. He can be seen showing up towards the end of the video. The one that was on top grabs my shovel about halfway through.

    • @daineclark
      @daineclark 8 місяців тому

      Man so scary. Was the one that got buried just down below it and that’s why he got buried? Noticed his avy bag was deployed, but still got buried somehow.

    • @snopro40

      I had been going up next to my buddy Rhett. I had turned out and was heading downhill and had no idea that an avalanche was coming. It hit me hard enough that I didn't have the capacity to deploy my avalanche gear. My ave pack was deployed as the team was extracting me from the snow.

      @madsnag97 9 місяців тому

      Yes he probably had one but he should stop being fucking stupid and avoid avalanche terrain. This is like his fourth burial over the years. Kudos to the dudes for digging his ass out but this guy needs to wake the fuck up or he ain’t coming home on the next one.

    Why were they in trouble in the first place. Did they cross a barrier?

    • @MountainWolf-ut
      @MountainWolf-ut 9 місяців тому

      Not sure what you mean by barrier but 2 of them where climbing a hill that you shouldn't be on with extreme avalanche danger.
