One of my favorite (if dated) boxing documentaries. I was surprised to find out that the original uncut version is not easy to find. There's a shortened version that was shown on espn classic. My copy was duplicated from a vhs cassette back in 1990 and later converted to dvd and then digitalized so it is not the best quality as P2P degrades the picture. A few parts fade out or blur as well. Sec...

News clips of games 4 and 5 of the Rangers Flyers opening round series in 1986. Apparently footage of game 5 is rare. I have just this truncated piece of it and a quick interview. Sorry for the bad quality, we had a thing called reception in the old days!

This is the last minute of play of the opening night game for the Islanders and Canucks in the 1982-3 season, a rematch of the previous spring's Stanley Cup finals. Vancouver hung on to take a 2-1 victory after losing four straight the previous playoffs. (No, I do not have the rest of the game)
Islanders at Rangers game 1 April 8 1975 radio dubbing over Vault broadcast footage
Переглядів 1,9 тис.5 років тому
Upon the surfacing of an audio of game 1 of the 1975 Islander Rangers series, (thanks to original poster epaddon) I decided to dub the audio over segments of the Rangers' training film of the game which was broadcast a while back on MSG Vault (of course heavily edited). The original show did not have a live sound track, just the host talking over the action with one of the players. The first pe...

From September 28 2008. Lots of pre and post game video in this 4 part upload. For Mets fans of a certain age, if this game did not have at least some emotional resonance with you, be it a memories of seeing a game at Shea, or the players from bygone eras, you just can't call yourself a real fan. I hope this stays up long enough to allow people to see this 10 year old telecast for the second ti...
1981 Islander-Oilers series goal compilation
Переглядів 9 тис.6 років тому
After getting a nice copy of the long lost game 5 of this classic series I decided to put a video together comprising the scoring plays. A very young Oilers team upsets Montreal and gave the champion Islanders their toughest series of the 81 playoffs. Some of the footage here is of poor quality, unfortunately. I worked with what's available.

1979 Islander-Ranger series - all the goals
When MN upset Montreal, I said The Islanders won the Stanley Cup, now they they've got to earn it, WHICH THEY CERTAINLY DID.
🎉🎈🎇
Love the prediction: the winner of this series will win the Stanley Cup.
😮❤👌 - great movie 😅, especially the narrator - thank you for sharing
It's so crazy boxing was the first motion picture ever made! Before silent flims or anything.
So far the 2024 NLCS mirrors this series exactly: The Mets were heavily favored over the Dodgers in the 1988 NLCS. The Dodgers are heavily favored over the Mets in the 2024 NLCS. 1988 NLCS: Mets win Game 1, Dodgers win Game 2, Mets win Game 3. 2024 NLCS: Dodgers win Game 1, Mets win Game 2, Dodgers win Game 3. The heavily favored team up 2-1 winning Games 1 and 3, the underdog Game 2. 1988 NL MVP: Kirk Gibson (Dodgers) 2024 NL MVP: Shohei Ohtani (Dodgers) 1988 NL MVP runner-up: Darryl Strawberry (Mets) 2024 NL MVP runner-up: Francisco Lindor (Mets) The Dodgers had home-field advantage in the 1988 NLCS. The Dodgers have home-field advantage in the 2024 NLCS. In Game 3 in 1988, neither team scored in the first inning while the winning team scored twice in the second. In Game 3 in 2024, neither team scored in the first inning while the winning team scored twice in the second.
Just found another similarity: In 1988, after the 3 games at Shea Stadium were played, the Giants faced the Eagles. In 2024, after the 3 games are played at Citi Field, the Giants will face the Eagles.
Welp whose here after what we’ve seen in 2024
Welp.
Mikki Gillies 😆
Man what I would do to back to the summer of 88 😢
0:58 Sometimes in 1987… "So, which type of 8 should we use for the year?" "Yes."
My favorite year of MLB during my 48 years. Huge Mets fan
LEAP AND WE'RE INTO 88

That fight between Dempsey and Firpo was downright brutal!
There's no way that MINI MARKET STEARNS can build up a team like the one structured by the best GM in METS' history, FRABK CASHEN.
Those were the days when players were not pampered, especially pitchers. Today's pitchers are overpaid and pampered.
50,000 fans at the opener and now you can't get 30,000 fans at CITIFIELD. IT JUST SUCKS.
Very lousy highlights, by the way.
Nothing like the METS team of the 80's. They had speed, power , solid pitching, good defense, good chemistry and strong leadership from the front office all the way down to the team.
Film Narrated by HNIC's Dave Hodge.
Lookit these tigers. Roar baby. Roar.
With a somewhat deeper pitching staff (one they would have the next season), the Mets would've gotten into the post-season in 1985. Loved that 1985 squad.
The lack of run support in August and September did not help. Gooden pitched well enough to have four additional wins. But zero run support resulted in four no decisions with Mets splitting two games.
@@exposethenwo6491 True. They also had a lousy June which included losing 3/4 to the Cardinals at home.
This was my era of the Isles.
This was the end of what should have been a dynasty. After the 86 championship season, the 1987 Sport Magazine Baseball preview had on the cover "Amazing, a Mets dynasty" with Darryl Strawberry pictured. The article predicted a Mets dynasty based on the current stars and the excellent farm system. How wrong they were as the dumb Kevin Mitchell trade not too mention a plethora of other problems ruined what should have been a dynasty.
Winfield is a gentleman
Had Rangers season tickets (first row blue on Rangers end) and can still remember it like yesterday. Had given them up by time they won the Cup but could not have been any louder. The guy who had tix behind us had a friend who was a ticket taker at the Coliseum so got in to see the games there too. Seeing Potvin on his knees was the cherry on top. How appropriate that he should be on his knees, after all, he does s***.
Now they seem happy !!
Feeling sad that Edmonton's fans weren't rewarded with a Cup in 2024. They got 5 between 84-90. Those were the days.
1986 should've been just the start....after years of being cellar dwellers and laughing stocks, this team should've been like the 1970's Oakland A's......
Intense series wow
Ron Darling will always be my favorite. His last 6 starts in ‘89 he averaged giving up 2 runs a game and averaged 7 innings per start. And almost all of those starts were losses because the team couldn’t hit. Not one starter had an ERA over 3.52. Lots of tough luck losses in ‘89. Cone: 14 W El Sid: 14 W Darling: 14 W Ojeda: 13 W Doc: 9 W Viola: 5 W I’m clearly still not over any of it. 😂
Tim Ryan was wrong before Rangers were in finals in 1972
Do you have game 6 of this series?
Huge Mattingly and Winfield fan here. If you get a chance watch docuseries Bronx Zoo on Peacock about 1990 season. Pretty entertaining. Just got done watvhing it.
I Remember This!
12:36 for those who hated Billy Smith, he tries to hit Don Maloney, goes down out of the net and gets the neck sunburn.
DARRYL .
Chet Lemon!
I was also at that game
That old Islander's goal horn still gives me the creeps. Hated it.
Only to get slapped by the Islanders

The Mets of 24
It was 45 years ago but I remember clear as crystal, that friggin play at 14:03 was off sides and that overtime goal never should have counted.
Don Cherry claims to this day that had the Bruins beat the Canadiens in their semi final series, that they'd have destroyed the Rangers. Clearly Grapes never actually watched this series because it would have been the other way around. His goon squad got to 7 with the Habs because the Canadiens were crippled by injuries, and they STILL outclassed Boston.
As mentioned before, 1985-1986 season was lst one that Islanders' road games were now televised by since-extinct SportsChannel-N.Y. to go along w/its coverage, club's home games. Again, I.Y.O., why did WOR-TV (Ch. 9) cease airing Nassau Cnty., N.Y.-based hockey 🏒 club's road games after previous season (1984-1985)?
