I love this song and The Men of Worth!!!
@@MarethSchwab Me too! They are so talented and sing songs for the soul.
Will you become....
So beautiful, Melissa!
@@mrshrall05 Thank you, Martha! ❤️
You were almost blown away. Beautiful tune.
@@ShamusinBemidji Yes! The wind was so strong! My bass drone was getting blown off my shoulder, so I was tilting my head to secure the drone in place! 😳💨🏴😂
Are you studying there in Skye? I read that the estate the encompasses the memorial is for sale.
@@ShamusinBemidji Not studying there. Although that would be amazing! Just made a “pilgrimage” visit with my sons and student. I heard that the property had been sold last year and now has new owners. They were nowhere to be found. So we just followed the path through the grazing pastures to get there. We were already in Scotland for the World Pipe Band Championships. This was part of our add-on post-World’s trip. 😉 An amazing opportunity.
Very nicely played. Thanks for the video, and the memorial.
Enjoy your trip! Nicely played!
Very beautiful song and place
So great
We visited there in 2004. Did you by any chance get to see if the big tapestry The Hunt Of The Unicorn is on display?
@@DavidMacfarlane-h9l The refurbishment of the Hunt of the Unicorn tapestry is in progress. There was a room displaying it all, including the skein of yarn(?) being used. I will post a video of it.
Now that is what I call dedication. Probably a bit cold too! Brrrr!
Aye stay close to lochlomond I bet you it was cold aye
They may take our escalators! But they will never take our stares!
Or stairs!😁
Fantastic 🏴
Excellent video

Matt: I'm really glad this video is helpful. Thank for the feedback! 🙂
Fine Scottish weather!😂
Your fans from Hong Kong 😊
Good ❤❤❤😊
Scotch weather enhances pipe-band sound ,❤ it .
Welcome to GB! It’s frequently grey and dank here. (I love watching your teaching videos to your young student and am learning much from you, particularly the mystery of grace notes. Thank you! (I’m 72 and just starting on the Scottish Small pipes.))
@@simonhutchinson2252 Hello Simon. It’s great to be here!
Well done at good tempo !
You? Are awesome thank you
@@tareqdubbein5756 I am glad this is helpful. You are very welcome!
Nice
Chouette vidéo! Merci ! Y a t il la possibilité d'avoir la partition s'il vous plait ?
I like the way you teach, going straight to the tune. However my chanter doesn't play good like yours: I bought it many years ago and never used. Should I buy new reeds or e better chanter? How can I choose a good one? Please help, thank-you.
Hi. I made a video on getting a good sound from your practice chanter. See if this helps: ua-cam.com/video/k9r58OfX9AQ/v-deo.htmlsi=sXTRhrl3kjzkA_7t If it doesn't help, I can tell you that my practice chanter is a polypenco (plastic) McCallum Long chanter. www.hendersongroupltd.com/product/mccallum-long-poly-practice-chanter-with-imitation-ivory/ You can order it from many different vendors. In the USA I like to purchase from Henderson Imports in Traverse City, Michigan. And here is the reed I like to use in the McCallum Poly Chanter: www.hendersongroupltd.com/product/frazer-warnock-practice-chanter-reed/ But there are many other really good quality practice chanters available out there in the world. I'd say you don't want pay less than about $80 USD for a practice chanter. This helps ensure you get a good quality chanter. I hope this helps.
Where can I get the book?

Hello! Are you a member of this pipe band?
Do you have enough pipers for harmonisation on that HA ? Or is there not enough senior pipers
@@liamerickson6074 Not yet. But we will soon. 😊
Thank you for that tutorial! Good tolearn in that appropriate tempo. But by the way Gairloch is pronounced „gieri“…..
Ok thank you. I did not know that!
@@melissabautz2346 Hi, Melissa, do you have German ancestors?
@@carlot7999 Somewhat German. Probably 25% maximum. The last name is my husband’s: who is nearly 75% German.

What’s the name of the first tune and the reel before the slow air?
Opener: Cha Til MacCrimmon, Reel before slow air: Kalabakan
I used to have a chanter when my high school had a pipes and drums band. It has been about 23 years. I might buy a chanter and try to relearn it.
Yes! Go for it. 😊👍
Very nice job. Are they both your students? What song is being played? Great strike in!
Thank you. I am the piper (as pipe major of our band) and the drummer is in our band and she takes snare lessons from Blair Brown
FIRST….pipers do not play songs, they play tunes, always tunes…..as in Tunes of Glory, an old movie that deserves watching. ( Calling them tunes risks getting hit by lightening or a flying haggis.) SECOND…..lovely lasses, excellent playing. Astonishing to this ancient piper that grade 4 has risen to this level of competence. Grade 4 in my day would now probably be classed as grade 47.
This 2/4 march is called “Carradale Bay”
Finely done! Outstanding TUNE and excellent execution. I’ve enjoyed and learned from watching your tutorials. I’m teaching a few students of various ages and abilities and have picked up some pointers from your videos. I’d love to chat with you sometime about how you started your band. Hi John: sounds good. How about you email me at melissa@melissabautzbagpiping.com
Thanks Melissa for that quick response, lots to think about, lots of practice using your advice, got to try that rubber band, again thank you, appreciated this greatly🤠🇦🇺👍
Hey Melissa,Frank from Australia here recently bought a chanter looks similar to yours can't seem to get a sound just a gurgle I'm just a beginner what am I doing wrong.looked at lot's of UA-cam vids but just don't get it,👍🤠🇦🇺
Hi Frank: I’m about to post a guidance video for you about this topic. (I think I accidentally called you Franklin instead of Frank though!) 😬Sorry about that!
i like how you write under the notes d strike,e doubling etc,i used to do this also when learning, i think for some people it speeds up the process of learning a tune
I’m glad that’s helpful! Thank you for leaving a comment.
❤❤
What chanter are you using? it has a really great sound!
McCallum Poly (extended long with countersunk holes)
@@melissabautz2346 Thanks 👍
