Thank you so much Joel! I think I remember you commenting on some of our early work, haha. Thanks for following us! About halfway through last year, we upgraded from a pair of Sony a6500’s to a pair of Sony FX3’s. I usually am on a Sony 50mm 1.8 the majority of the day and my wife is usually on a Sony 85mm 1.8. For ceremonies, we both switch to a Sony 24-105mm f/4, and then back to our primes after the ceremonies. For reception, I usually switch to my Sony 16mm 1.4 that is meant for aps-c bodies, but just clear image zoom a little to get the vignette out of the frame. Also, I am on a DJI ronin-sc for 100% of the day, while my wife mainly hand holds or uses a mono pod during the ceremonies. For audio, we use Tascam DR10L packs on groom and officiant as well as a backup source tapped into the dj’s board, and for toasts we use a cheap hand held recorder wrapped around the toasters mic in an elastic sleeve like what Who Is Matt recommends, as well as tap into the dj’s board again. Hope that helps! Do you shoot weddings as well?
@@faithandcovenant4069 Thanks for the detailed reply! The upgrade certainly does show in the image quality of your recent films. Do you shoot 60fps for everything with the gimbal? For some reason, I had always assumed you shot solo. But then I saw a shot in this film at minute 1.29 which looks like it came from a second shooter and was left wondering. Good to know you're a husband and wife team. And yes, I shoot weddings but haven't done anything in a while due to going back to school. Here's one of my films: ua-cam.com/video/P7lqPMWhp6Q/v-deo.html I am also curious about what your deliverables to wedding clients are. Do you have a longer edit other than teasers and highlight films? I'd be grateful to see what that looks like if you don't mind.
Joel, please forgive me for taking over a month to get back to you! I have been traveling a lot for work lately and have been home less than I have been away. Filming as a team with my wife has been a lot of fun, but as we just had our first child a few months back, I am transitioning back into the commercial video production world. We do shoot everything at 60fps, except for the ceremonies. I am on a gimbal for about 95% of the day, and my wife is usually handheld, going to a monopod for the ceremonies. And thank you for linking to one of your videos, it was fun to watch! I feel like I was there after getting to experience the celebration and hear their love story through their interviews and letters. You did a great job! Our longest highlight film is 7-8 minutes. We do offer a “home video” that can be as long as 2 hours, but thats basically just raw footage strung out on a timeline. If you’re interested in knowing what deliverables our in our packages, you can find all of that information as well as examples of each on our website at www.faithandcovenant.com/packages The examples can be found by clicking on each item that is listed!
This is amazing! Well-done. This is probably the best wedding film I have come across on Matt's review. Had to come here cos the sound and video was out of synch there. I like how deliberate you were with each shot in the edit. e.g the couple match cut transition to the reception, the trumpeters and drummers at the reception, your use of establishing shots to 'prepare our minds' etc. You also had the story well thought out. Started off with a 'hook' and only included relevant sections of speeches in the film. Have you been studying the film poets? :)
Joel Nyatse thanks so much man!! I have a background in corporate and commercial video production so I feel like that has helped me to craft stories well. I actually haven't seen much of the Film Poets stuff until recently and while I think their work is amazing, the ones I've watched have been chronologically confusing to me. Thanks for coming over here from Matt's page. I've learned the most from his "how to film a wedding" videos!
FaithAndCovenant Your experience in commercial work does show! And yes I have come across a few comments about the film poet's chronology but have never had any issues myself. Anyways, keep up the good work. Looking forward to more of your posts!
Paparazzi Entertainment Thank you so much! I can't believe the response I've gotten from him and all the comments from his followers, I really appreciate it!
Saw this video when Matt Johnson was reviewing it, beautiful! I also wanted to say that if you guys need extra hands during a wedding or a shoot, I also live in FL and I'm looking for some experience and would definitely love a bit of guidance in exchange for extra hands if you guys are interested. Cheers!
