UPDATE 7-31-2023 - I'm still using the Chillout system and it works great! I just got back from a cross country trip from Camden, SC to Clinton Iowa for the Cessna 150-152 flyin and this personal cooling system made the trip very comfortable despite 90+ air temps.

Great video! Brings back the fantastic, heart pounding experience of my first, of two, visits to Oshkosh in 1988 just two years after obtaining my Private Pilot License.

Great video, clearly showing the railroad tracks from Ripon right up to the gravel pit. I felt for the guy that was sent on the 180 heading, it was like he was being sent packing. Good for him that he called the controller back and got back in the flow.

Unfortunately Pik-n-Pig burned down a few months ago. But, they are rebuilding!

I would love to do this with my Sonex but my canopy would probably rip off!! 😆

UPDATE 8-2-2021 - I have been using the Chillout system all summer and just got back from a week long trip. The Chillout system kept me cool flying in 90 degree plus weather. I'm so glad I found this!

I think if I were flying into this for the first time it would stress me. Watching this would be a good way to prep. It’s good you post this.

Flting to Osh is on my bucket list. I'm a 150 owner as well (71L model). Id fly it there but it's got a high time engine and Im over 700 nm away, so not going to risk it. Plan is to build a kit in the next year or two then fly in with my son who will be piloting another aircraft. Been to Airventure once in 2014. Best vacation Ive ever had. Cant wait to go again

Approach does a pretty dang good job of kicking out the folks that aren’t following the NOTAM properly. After all, these guys and gals are the “best of the best”. I was also in the flight of 4 RVs that is on the audio that you attached to your video. The in-cockpit video that we have shows a pair of cessna 150/152s Flying side by side and west of the train tracks- (I assume that those planes were not you and your friend). In any case, they were pushed back to the hold (and for good reason). Glad you got in safely!

As the lead in the first formation of RVs... The controllers were definitely talking to another Cessna way ahead of ya. Looks like you were nearing Pickett when we were being turned into the base for 36. It was definitely an interesting afternoon, but we never cut anyone off... In fact, we had a fellow RV driver dive in to the line in front of us from the north, inside of RIPON. We did a whole lap around the lake before heading inbound from RIPON. Glad it all worked out for ya!
