    My grandmother had this car in green with black interior 170cu in slant six auto on the column am radio no power steering or brakes. She learned to drive in her 60’s after my grandfather passed suddenly in 1966. She just wanted the cheapest car on the lot and this was it. I learned to drive in 1978. Man was this car slow…. And a bitch to parallel park with the manual steering. 0-60 seemed close to 20 seconds. 50-70 for passing seemed like an eternity. I do like the one year only taillights on this car. I also liked the one year only taillights on the 1968 Dodge Coronet R/T 440 Magnum I bought for myself in 1978 for $1,200 as I recall. That car was a monster and was quite the contrast to my grandmother’s Valiant. I think 1968 was a signature year for Mopars. 1968 is my favorite year for Chargers. The scoops available for 1969 on the Coronet are nice but the 1968 somehow seemed more solid and I like the 1968 taillights better. For the Road Runner, I do prefer the taillights for 1969. I never liked the 1970 Coronet front end but recently I’d say it’s growing on me. I do like the one year only 1970 Road Runner, however. Wish I still had my Coronet. Idiotically I gave it to charity in the the late 1980’s when I no longer had room to keep it. Big mistake! Big regrets!

    Radio delete, cigarette lighter delete, cool, nice simple 2 door post car. Super 225 for Plymouth, Charger 225 for Dodge. Rear roll up windows, nice feature on base model.

    Chrysler Australia should have built these here back then. My dads first Valiant work car was 4 doors with same slant six along with 3 on the column manual. Our VE series was Car of the Year '68 from Wheels magazine. This motor seems to idle fast. Thanks for the great upload :)

    I love how even these compact Chrysler Corp. cars had gauges instead of idiot lights. Even Cadillac didn't back then.

      All the current from the alternator passes through the ammeter too. It's wise to pay attention, that the heavy wire doesn't short. I grew up on these cars. Well built and a daily driven even years later.

    Nice Valiant. Looks great in that colour too. I think it was called Candy Blue.

    That was my first car, mine was green with a white top. People tend to forget just how poorly those cars were made compared to today. They had character.. That's about it, it did teach me to repair a car however.

    Pretty clean and rare. Slant 6 without AC or radio. Don't know about the stripes and bogus AutoZone Super V sticker badge though.

      A/c was still very expensive, especially when added to the price of a compact car. But I could never imagine buying this car new without at least an AM radio. The cost was minimal.

    • @klwthe3rd
      @klwthe3rd 6 років тому

      itsmegp46 the am/fm radio option was very expensive and rarely do you see it ever in a Valiant. All the ones I've seen have no radio or AM only.

    • @markspartanvids
      @markspartanvids 6 років тому

      I actually do have the radio to the car though. It would have to be rewired back in and would have to find an antenna for it also. To much work for me to do and I like the car without the radio anyways.

    I don't like it (I LOVE IT) Only thing is I think your engine is idled a little too high I would slow it down some!!! Man thats a beautifull car I love the color the stripe everthing is so nice

    Very, very clean little car! Same color and trim package as my valiant was, only mine had the black interior - and the factory AM radio. I always liked having that lower dash pad - a feature for '68 ONLY! I still have a good set of '68 only tail lights kicking around too. I miss that car, but I don't miss the drum brakes!

    ya, especially because if it ran 519k, probably would not be in so mint condition, isnt it?

  • @MrSkt2011
    @MrSkt2011 13 років тому

    hey guy, very nice car. The mileage is 51k, not 519k ok? antiques has only five figures, the last number is point of mile. If run more than 99,999k it returns to zero. I think the sound of engine is quite loud, the choke is on?

    great american classic iron ! i have long been an great fan of american cars as i grew up watching many great american action movies and tv series that often feature cars. i just finished watching the 1971 movie Duel which features a red 1970 valiant (slant 6) did some research about it and it landed me here. very nice machine that you have, 519k+ miles, incredible man! truly built to last hardware in a classic american timeless design, no nonsense and all-go. kind regards from germany :)
