Love your setup! What’s the footprint of your gym? L*W?
@@qclark12 thanks! it’s one half of a two car garage. I think about 10 wide to the edge of the mats and 20 long.
Solid work bro, good job!
Appreciate it!
Arnold's are done in the sitting position
Arnold did them in a sitting position.
Keep up the good work and god bless you✌️
Thank you 🙌
TIME TO LOAD IT UP
Next time!😅
lol I’ve had that exact one for years
Ha! Ok well maybe I’ll stand corrected😂
As a person part of the zillenial generation it astonishes me that people thinks it’s ok to say no for certain thing’s especially work related or other wise like anything a boss ask u should be a yes the reasons being how you gonna go through life with any expirirnce or eiddom that comes from the failure of doing the thing you absolutely do not wanna do like yes it’s ok to say no for majority of things you don’t wanna do but how else are you gonna learn and adapt

“The role you play now is not the role you’re going to play forever”. As a guy with less time on that’s a great tid bit. Cheers.
@@PeteyFF right on man. Thanks for checking it out.
Is being a douchebag loser on youtube count as feeling fulfilled. Asshole😊
I’ve said this to my troops many times. “Until you understand why this is going to be a s**t show, shut up and have a good attitude.”
@@bluzfiddler1 I dig it. Solid advice.

So you're basing in the right of stating an opinion to whether or not something is smart or stupid and that you don't have that right until you have more experience? What are you a comi-badtard? I know you're argument sounds logical but it's wrong. Find the better way iof stating it.
@@rbadventures7986 first off, what? But also, yes. Sometimes experience is needed for a better understanding and opinion of things. You’re right, it does sound logical.
These are some of the cleanest ones I’ve seen on here. Keep getting after it man 🙏🏼👊🏼
@@NicholasBLove thanks man. Got hundreds of them In categorized playlists. Enjoy
Love this advice. Especially someone trying to go full-time fire and just finishing P School.
@@Table_Top_Farms excellent! Good luck and keep going. It’s a great career if we don’t screw it up for ourselves😂
I learned not to expect anything other than maybe slightly above ordinary so then when something extraordinary happened I was so happy LOL
@@johnnieredwine8663 sounds like it comes with a side of guilt and then immediate fear that things are going too well and something bad will happen to even it out😂 so I’ve heard.
I did indeed not think any of that. Do elobrate sir in tot-t-shirt.
its actually a tribute shirt for a friend of a friend who passed. It has the 10 commandments of tater tots on the back!
This goes for anything, never love above your means.
I think your comment was accidentally profound!
I know a lot of young firefighter who should hear this. A series on financial advice specifically for firefighters wouldn't be a bad idea!
It was in the works a while ago but never materialized. If you have some suggestions on who I can talk to I’m totally open!
Good job. You beat me!
@@edc4052 the heat beat all of us🤣
Also a side question, how long should one stay riding backwards before trying to move up? For example my department desperately needs relief drivers. Despite being a probie, the chief has told me many times that I should start taking the classes I need to be a relief driver and that I could be a relief driver within my second year as a firefighter. For me though, I feel like I have a basic competence as just a firefighter with a lot of room to get better, and I really want to get good at what I do before I think about moving up. Where's the line? I don't want to drive before I'm a good fireman, but also I see my department has a need and want to be a team player. Also if you're looking for ideas for a video feel free to address this question how you please.
Is Patrick ever gonna be back on the show? Y'all had a great rapport!
Solid advice. One thing I'd add from personal experience as a probie is just because the older guys or even the dudes who have just gotten off probation are complaining does not mean you can complain. Even if you have the same criticisms, just stay silent. The less you say as a new guy the easier your life will be. Still ask questions and all that, but for everything else less is definitely more imo.
You got it man. Be seen not heard goes a long way in the start.
Buy how to eat move and be healthy by Paul chek and practice everything in it and problem solved!!!
@@calebayogioftheuniverse what’s it about?
@@4thshiftfirefighter how to truly heal yourself from the foundations up! just go watch a few videos with paul chek.
well said sir!
Thanks!
I'm definitely appreciating the "old man" rants. I'm an older probie and I know the "rules" in the white collar world, but trying to figure out which ones translate over to this line of work is tough. I appreciate the insight. On a completely unrelated note, I work for a small department. Four station, 80 odd something firefighters. We had a line of duty death this year and a lot of good changes are in the process of being made. One thing that isn't changing though is physical fitness. No one at my department works out, and no captains make fitness a priority. Two of our stations don't have gym equipment, and the two that do have equipment have really old stuff. Have you ever encountered this before? Is there anything I can do as a probie to promote us working out as a crew?
I would take a very subtle approach to it. Fitness on shift is not a priority for them so if you come in and declare that as a non negotiable, you’ll isolate yourself. Without getting too in the weeds here’s an example of how I’d present it; Hey boss when we’re all done with our stuff or after 5 can I go do a quick workout on the bay floor or somewhere? (Their answer is probably slightly dismissive but “yes”) then over the course of the next year a handful of guys see you doing bodyweight squats and push ups and that’s non threatening enough that maybe one joins in but maybe not. This might seems underwhelming but it’s definitely the safest tactic to start with.
@@4thshiftfirefighterI appreciate the advice! I have some fairly light kettlebells and thankfully my captain is amenable to me getting a workout in during the day. We also just got slaughtered at a softball game against PD so I’m hoping people will want to start joining in.
Lmao they just ghost me lol
Well that’s just not very nice.
@@4thshiftfirefighter well yeah it sucks, we talked for like 6 months and they used to text me and check up on me,used to have long conversations. Then 1 day they stopped responding at all and now they have removed me from every social media handle, well i still wonder what did i do wrong
Good episode! I think the "hot ones" episode is an awesome idea.
I’ll call it Squat Ones until they come after me

As someone who just finished the academy yesterday, at 32 years of age, this feels very relevant to me. I want to hit the ground running but man oh man am I fatigued. Got 4 days off and am hoping to recover as much as I can before my first shift.
Congratulations man! Enjoy your days off and your achievement. You got some good days ahead.
Really spot-on in our organization right now… Thanks for the mental reset buddy!
For sure man! We’re all eerily similar clowns in our circuses.
That lady’s kinda annoying considering she’s interrupting in the middle of him saying something. This isn’t assertive behavior it’s just plain old annoying.
I think the audio and video got slightly out of sync when it uploaded. I didn’t notice it at all on the audio podcast or when we were recording. Plus she’s Canadian so there’s no way she’d be that inconsiderate!
Hey man, just found your channel. I'm a rookie firefighter at age 32 and am looking to absorb as much knowledge as fast as I can to increase my chances of a 30 year career. Just wanted to say I really appreciate all the insight you've been sharing here.
Man, thank you so much for this comment. Welcome to the fire service and enjoy!

Yeah, but not Schaumburg. Because if it was, I’d just say I’m from Chicago😂
When you're going through a interview be a robot but with some emotions.
This is exactly the problem he's talking about, you're a human being interviewed by another human, if someone isn't listening to you when you talk to them and answer questions weirdly, you'd be pretty quick to assume they're being dishonest and dodging the question, it only makes you look worse. This doesn't mean you can't outright lie about the question either btw, an earnest heart can fuck you over just as much as looking dishonest if you admit that you can't do some core part of the job.
It can absolutely give off the feel that the person is dodging. Even more so I just want to know that the person is paying attention! Sometimes we try to be too smart and end up looking foolish because we think we really have to have a dazzling answer. Keep it simple, have some ability to elaborate on the main points, then most importantly, stop talking!
@@4thshiftfirefighter the point of the interview is to get to know the person and how accurate their resume is. I'm more used to technical interviews so much more about what someone knows. There are plenty of strange nervous characters in the field so socializing is given a bit of a pass.
