Given much thought to this, I agree partially. Country music was in a melting pot of Ireland, Scotland, Western and Southern regions…and of course the roots of African American Blues. I think it is absurd to label or cast an artist into one genre of music.Not only is it absurd, but narrow minded, especially in the world of Music today. However, putting on a cowboy hat doesn’t make a country singer, nor does dancing the steps of James Brown make you an R&B singer. Artist have a right to step into the shoes of their Country and R&B counterparts. Now, getting to Beyonce…the issue was not that she wasn’t given a warm welcoming into the world of Country music but the absence of her immediate appraisals, accolades and recognition. is where the dispute and disparity began “Hi, Im Bey, I just dropped a Country Cd, where’s my award? It doesn’t work like that. So, like I mentioned, the idea of crossing over to another classification of music is perfectly normal but sometimes challenges. But I do think it displays the artist flexibility and creativity. But let it be known.. your name shouldn’t be the entity opening the door to the new genre of music, but your rare talent In the spiritual realm of things- we all have our seasons. Seasons of rest.
