Once they are bonded, am I able to put them together in the out door rabbit house which at one point only belonged to my male rabbit?

Thank you! I will try this. My bunnies are both males and have been fighting for weeks 😅 Edit: It’s been months, I’m still trying! They’re both still working things out and it’s getting better :)

If you-all adopt a little furball bunny rabbit it is your responsibility to raise that rabbit from the day you bought that rabbit or adopt that rabbit till the day it dies that's your responsibility a rabbit can last from anyting anywheres from 7 to 10 years to 14 years it is your responsibility to take care of that poor little docile creature shame on you people that abandon your little bunny rabbits cuz you can't take care of it while you should think about these things before you adopt a rabbit thank you Miss for your lovely video

Guess again lady try owning a wild jackrabbit and you know what you'll be surprised yes you can actually train the little creature they say you can't that is a bunch of BS you can actually train a wild animal where you think a bunny rabbit comes from from the first place it's wild in the beginning so what if it's from nature or domestic it still from a wild source try explaining that to Mother Nature

I did this in winter and the sex hormones were raging with urine spraying up to 30 times per day, so much for that theory

      Are they neutered or spayed?

    • @mariasanimalshelter

Hi @fairmaiden6472, yes as you've noticed it's not always a straightforward process and some individual rabbits do not bond no matter what you try, and there can be various reasons for this. It's an emotional and stressful time for them, and there are no concrete 'rules' to bonding because it's so individual. As others have mentioned, neutering is a good place to start to reduce urine spraying etc. But even when neutered, rabbits still produce sex hormones from other areas in the body, so there are always hormones present no matter the neutering status or season. This can complicate bonding but if you're struggling, you can ring a vet, the Rabbit Welfare Association or a reputable rescue for further advice. It's worth remembering that rabbits are typically much happier and more relaxed when living in pairs or groups (rabbits will often work harder for company than for food!). So, if bonding is unsuccessful, please don't give up hope and keep one single rabbit alone for their lifetime. Reach out for some more support because there are lots of organisations that are keen to support you in pet ownership. Best.

Most informative. My partner and I rescued a dumped rabbit a few years ago after a previous rabbit passed away. We're soon to be seeking a partner for our rescued bun. She's an altered (spayed) adult, fully vaccinated.

I have a 7-year-old dutch bunny and a 7 month old holland lop, both male and neutered, that I'm trying to bond. The older bun has been single his whole life and in the past 2 weeks of bonding, he's been quite aggressive. He won't immediately attack but there is a lot of nipping/boxing to keep the younger and more eager bun at a distance. It's heavily reduced at this point, but it's continuing to happen and neither bun seems to take on a submissive role ): Is mild nipping still okay in my 2-4 hour sessions? There's been no signs of grooming yet. I've also been unable to integrate hay on the floor or in a litter box because the older one immediately gets aggressive--how do you suggest that can be integrated?

I found this video very informative and helpful. I feel confident that I can do everything correctly when I bond my bunny with a rescue bunny which you have already chatted to me about and given brilliant advice. Thank you all for your support and help over the bonding process which fingers crossed is successful.

Thank you so much Poppy! They're all so individual and complicated but very glad that it's given you some more confidence, and if it doesn't work out at least there's a place to turn to for more questions and support. We're all always learning :)
