Separation or Individuation is one of the goals of awakening. There is no conflict between being an authentic individual and being part of the Whole. They are simultaneous, co-emergent aspects. What you learn in awakening is that things are never black and white or one way or the other. The polarities of the opposites are co-emergent. An awakened consciousness can hold the opposites in balance. Awakening is dark. That is the nature of the process, which purges a person of lifetimes of repressed instincts, emotions, feelings, and complexes over a period of decades. It takes decades to even begin to tap into the Higher Self or Soul Core...which is located deep inside the heart.
