Intro to the Enthymeme
Переглядів 3,8 тис.12 років тому
The end goal of any productive persuasive writing is cooperation. When your audience is initially opposed to something you want them to support, though, reaching this goal can be difficult. Enthymeme structure is designed to help you reach an opposed audience by using their values. This video gives a brief introduction to the enthymeme.

With this technique I am going to become an unstoppable force.
What a neat way to help other people to see that there are win/win approaches that work. Great video, James I really like it. It was not the Enthymeme approach I was expecting. But I learnt a lot. Great video
"It doesn't matter if you're right; it only matters if you get them to do what you want them to." This is exactly why Plato wrote "Gorgias" and why this kind of rhetoric is merely cookery, flattery, and ultimately detrimental to the rhetorician. I'm so glad my own kids were able to see a different view of rhetoric -- one where truth matters, not manipulation. These students are being taught the skills without virtue.
Awesome!!!!
You're the first mormon I've ever seen with a beard. Congrats! I thought it was a no-no to have a beard as a mormon. I'm glad I was wrong
Mormon missionaries are supposed to be clean-shaven. After my mission, I grew my beard back.
I was told you're not supposed to have a beard if you're Mormon.
James, where do you teach?
A bit silly, as: Beatles songs were written by different people, several supposed contradictions are Lennon songs vs McCartney ones. Also, opinions within songs are written within 'character', some are clearly not representing their own opinion within context and others are deliberately ironic. Still, a fun video :-)
. I'm looking forward to reading the finalists. Some great thoughts, James, and well put. It's rare I'll watch a talking head for five minutes, so take that as a nod.
Correction from my dad: Grandpa Art gave the very practical gift of money for the wedding. The Menorah was a few years later, but early enough that it felt like one of those things that always existed to me and my siblings. I should also note that Grandpa Art did believe in money as well as books as a form of present. Though the best present he gave us was weekly phone calls. :)
excellent
You've been arguing with people on UA-cam too much.
Haha, I've often had these very thoughts about "All You Need is Love" and "Try to See it My Way". Great to have someone else articulate it.
This is awesome.
