Chegou no Brasil 🇧🇷
Since Mare is also called a PHILLIE so I played this in protest of the Philadelphia PHILLIES beating the New York Mets!
Absolutely recorded live, and a great rendition.
Song hit my hillbilly bone ❤
1927😊
Great, except for the “falsetto”.
Fate Norris on harmonica?
Lyrics: I got a gal and she’s a Jew, Uncle Bud I got a gal and she’s a Jew Uncle Bud I got a gal and she’s a jew She don’t wear no- yes she do, Uncle Bud Where will the wedding supper be? Uncle Bud Where will the wedding supper be? Uncle Bud Where will the wedding supper be? Way down yonder in a holler tree, Uncle Bud. (Fiddle plays tune) Uncle Bud gets married on Sunday morn, Uncle Bud Uncle Bud gets married on Sunday morn, Uncle Bud. Uncle Bud gets married on Sunday morn, He’s gonna bring back a gallon of corn, Uncle Bud. (Fiddle plays tune) I know a man they called Bud, Uncle Bud I know a man they called Bud, Uncle Bud I know a man they called Bud, He carried his whiskey in his jug, Uncle Bud. (Fiddle plays tune) Big cat, little cat playin’ in the sand, Uncle Bud. Big cat, little cat playin’ in the sand, Uncle Bud. Big cat, little cat playin’ in the sand, Little cat yelled like a natural man, Uncle Bud. (Cat sounds then fiddle) Where will the wedding supper be? Uncle Bud Where will the wedding supper be? Uncle Bud Where will the wedding supper be? Way down yonder in a holler tree, Uncle Bud.
Lyrics: There's a Meth'dist preacher, you can tell him by his bow--- Don't you hear Jerusalem moan? Never grubbles at a chicken, just pickin' out the co' Don't you hear Jerusalem moan? CHORUS: Don't you hear Jerusalem moan? Don't you hear Jerusalem moan? Thank God there's a Heaven and a ringin' in my soul and my soul starts singin' Don't you hear Jerusalem moan? There's a Hardshell preacher, you can tell 'im by his shoes, Don't you hear Jerusalem moan? Never chaws his own terbaccer and drinks his own booze, Don't you hear Jerusalem moan? CHORUS: There's a Baptis' preacher, you can tell him by his walk Don't you hear Jerusalem moan? Got a bottle in his pocket an' he can't hardly talk, Don't you hear Jerusalem moan? CHORUS: There's a Campbellite preacher, an' his soul is saved, Don't you hear Jerusalem moan? But he has to be baptised ever' other day, Don't you hear Jerusalem moan? CHORUS: There's a Holy Roller preacher, he can show you how to shout, Don't you hear Jerusalem moan? When he gits them all a-rollin' and they *kick out the lights, Don't you hear Jerusalem moan? CHORUS: There's a Presbyt'ian preacher, an' he lives in town, Don't you hear Jerusalem moan? His neck's so stiff he cain't hardly look around, Don't you hear Jerusalem moan? CHORUS: There's a Meth'dist preacher, you can tell him by his bow--- Don't you hear Jerusalem moan? Never grubbles at a chicken, just pickin' out the co' Don't you hear Jerusalem moan?

LYRICS: Me and Lem Briggs and old Bill Brown Took a load of corn to town Old Jim dog, the orn'ry pup He just naturally followed up Every time I come to town You boys go to kickin' my dog around Makes no difference if he is a hound Ya gotta quit kickin' my dog around As we driv' past the country store A passel of yaps came out the door Jim he stopped to smell a box Showered him with sticks and rocks Every time I come to town You boys go to kickin' my dog around Makes no difference if he is a hound Ya gotta quit kickin' my dog around They tied a tin can to his tail And run him a-past the county jail That just naturally makes me sore Bill he cussed and Lem he swore Every time I come to town You boys go to kickin' my dog around Makes no difference if he is a hound Ya gotta quit kickin' my dog around Every time I come to town You boys go to kickin' my dog around Makes no difference if he is a hound Ya gotta quit kickin' my dog around
Skillet Lickers and Georgia Yellowhammers were great.
Love this
SENATOR ROBERT C BYRD PLAYS THE IRISH FIDDLE MUSIC COUNTRY HITS. 1:28
The marvellous Skillet Lickers from Georgia.
Anyone know of where I can get a copy of this recording that has a better, more accurate sound; meaning, the background singers are not heard as clear as they are on the original 78 rpm record. Thanks.
I think you answered your own question. Get a 78 off eBay.
...really great fiddling,...must be Lowe or Mac,...instead of Gid ?
I love Riley Puckett's voice and I like his guitar playing too.
...my heroes !
great tune
Themselves and Georgia Yellowhammers were great. Both groups are on Document cd's.
The Holy moley Rounders do a great version.
THE MODEL ROUNDERS. NOT MOLEY. Darn spell correct!
My unit went off to Iraq 15 years ago. There was this kid from the south who sang this song with a harmonica. I went through some life changing experiences with all that. Idk, that was one of them. Years later I had to look it up. Much thanx.
I have been listening to these guys since i was 11, I’m 24 and see this picture all over what is the date it was taken? GID IS MY COPILOT
left to right- gid, macmichen, riley, and Fate right
a bit of Georgia bluegrass. It’s from the DEEP SOUTH, so some of the wording is unacceptable today. But it’s still MARVELLOUS string band music. I used to listen to it in St Lucia when I lived there in the mid-1970s and it still makes me very emotional. Listen to the woman’s high voice which can be heard in many of them. Gid Tanner (fiddle and vocal), with Skillet Lickers, Clayton McMichen (fiddle and vocal), Dan Hornsby (vocals), blind Riley Puckett (guitar and vocal) and Robert Lee Sweat (guitar).
The "woman's" voice is Gid Tanner. He sang in the high falsetto to be funny.
Must be the best version of a great song. Skillet Lickers on 6 Document records cd's all issued sides.
....is that Mac doing the lead singing ?...sure NOT Riley !
Yes, that's Mac.
Nice!
this track crushes
Such great music. Don’t tell the SJWs they drop a hard R in this one. They’d love to cancel this music they’ve never even heard heretofore. Oh well, it’s the way it was back then and this is great old timey music.
My Grandmother used to sing this when i was young.
I remember I went to Pikeville Kentucky it was 1964 didn't know it was a dry county. We were in a holler at a juke joint revival it was a live band all country folk in their had to be in the 60s years old. they were playing this song and many others. Yes they were drinking moonshine. And they were hollering slamming their feet clapping their just dancing away. I've never seen nothing like it in my life I'll tell you what I had one of the best times being there with them Pikeville Kentucky folks that night and. Man did I had a blast. Them younger. Kentucky women sure we're fine and showed us a real good time.
The theme song of Appalachia.
日本人で聴いてるやつは流石にいないよね?…
俺を呼んだか?
So very many non American people seem to listen to the Skillet-Lickers, specifically this song. Cool to see people across the world enjoying American classics!
Where is woodie guthrie?
True American Sounds
F.ing bigot
Talk about a real old-school dance fiddle tune
Goddamn, those high female vocal harmonies are spinetingling, and I sure wish I could hear them better
Wasn't that Gid Tanner singing falsetto?
@@KevTheImpaler Oh, that makes a lot more sense, you're likely right!
Awh shush
Excellent ☺
Agree.
I was wondering why this was such a popular tune among the old tymey crowd. This is the holy grail template that they are all trying to duplicate exactly as is heard hear or accept that you have failed miserably.
1.75 playback speed to make it sound like bluegrass :D
Thanks for posting this. My late mother had this on a old 78 album and listened to it back in the 60's. Took a chance that I'd find this version here and was so pleasantly surprised. Nice memories.
Best version of the song ever made
The good ol days
Love it❤️
A band of "ALL-STAR" musicians from the 1920s, including a couple of state-champion fiddlers, AND the premier guitarist of the era.
He’s the best old dog, you ever did see Wherever I go, he follows me His voice is sweet, his name is Jim He’d fight for me and I’d for him
i like this virsion song so much !
Found out about these guys from KVMR radio in Nevada City decades ago and am thankful.
