The image of lightning is a reflection within the camera. It happens all the time and makes the lightning appear closer than it is. Also the audio on this video has been adjusted to make the thunder appear to be at the same time as the lightning. There are loads of videos on UA-cam of the same thing, sadly they aren't really showing lightning striking within a few feet of the camera. If a bolt really hit that close you'd know all about it, or wake up in hospital afterwards, if you're lucky.

I guess they couldn't keep reheating the goat skin so they didn't use it. All in all it's a shame, goat skin would have sounded better.
