Beautiful Place #400 I Found An Antique Dodge Exploring West Side Road NM
I found West Side Road exploring my map and it was this long snaking road that is on top of the mountains. The road is much longer than I thought and really challenged my old van .
During the exploration I found an old Dodge Brothers car in the middle of nowhere. You can only imagine the story that car could tell.

    Thank you for posting this video! I'm from Alabama, but our family lived in Magdalena from 1967 to 1974. My parents were Southern Baptist Missionaries to the Navajo Indians of the Alamo Reservation 27 miles northwest of town. I brought my wife and daughter out there on vacation in 2007. It was very nostalgic to see the home where we once lived as well as where I went to school. We moved back home to Alabama in 1974, but New Mexico never left me. It still holds a special place in my heart. I want to come back to visit after I retire, which is just three years away. There's so much I want to show my family that we didn't get to do during our last trip!

    My mother was a child in Arcadia when they were shot. All of her brothers went down to Congers to see the bodies. She told me that every one of the men involved in the shooting had really sad lives after that and Mother thought it was because they had killed a woman.

    I read the stories on this bridge. To clarify, the caucasian woman that caused the two boys to be hung wasn't raped. The two boys that were seen with her were charged with attempted rape, merely for being seen in her presence. No crime was committed.

    Part of my youth was spent in Methuen, where I explored many castles. One off Pond Street used to be hidden but has since been cleaned up and the trees around it removed. There's some interesting history in that area.

    You'll be interested to know that the cars were something I was in charge of until I retired in 2018. Yes, one is still securely locked. It is slated to go to Troy NH where it will be cosmetically restored for display. They are NOT abandoned, just sitting down there in full view and out of the way. Also, the one you walked into was a New York Central car. The last time I turned the lights on in the car was about 20 years ago. About 19 years ago, vandals did get in and broke all the lights....

    Wow, what a great find. If that station could talk, the stories it could tell the years it was open and since it has been closed. Driving around western NC and east TN this weekend saw numerous old stations, some still with the gas pumps.

    If he's wanting to sell, why not: list the vehicles. their wanted prices, his address,and let you pass it on. The narrator is just wandering about thinking he's found an antique treasures chest. Obviously the owner doesn't want to sell, unless he can get exorbitant prices. Rusty 'rollers' aren;t treasures, they're junkers.

    Wonder if the underground gas tanks were removed. Since Chevron took over Gulf, they'll probably get stuck for it.

    • @allen_steel1236
      @allen_steel1236 Рік тому

      Most likely the gas tanks are still buried under the ground, and whatever was in them when it closed is still there until eventually they leak. Here in California the state that believes they have to protect us from ourselves. Even gas stations in the 1960s had to put double wall tanks in, and then by the 19'80s you had to have a liner with a gravel bed a double wall tank and a gas leak detection system. If that system triggered more than so many times in a year it required you to dig up the tanks. That happened to a small Shell station near where I live. It was the old fashioned two car garage with the hydraulic floor lift. Had been here since the early 60s. The original tanks leaked the owner came up with the money to replace them, after spending almost a half million dollars to replace the tanks. 2 years later the gas detector started going off saying there was a leak. His insurance company refused to cover the cost of the repairs, he somehow found the money to have one tank dug up and repaired, turned out to be a bad fitting installed by the manufacturer. 3 years later there was another leak. This time he couldn't afford to have them repaired. Station was sold the old tanks removed everything was leveled, there's absolutely no Trace there was ever a gas station at that corner. It's now a Starbucks. And we prove that it ever existed or a few photos I took as a young kid.

    Great video! It’s a shame that people like Mike Elam and Kenny Rose that is trying to destroy this great man and his family with their videos. These guys had 40 years to say what they are saying now but they wait till Dwana Pusser and all the credible witnesses are dead to fabricate their false information. Mr. Elam claims he researches records to back his claims. The truth is it was a different time in the 50’s, 60’s and early 70’s. Buford didn’t report everything for he would arrest the State Line criminals and they would bail out the next day. These people didn’t play by the rules so why should Buford. Like the old saying goes, sometimes you have to fight fire with fire and that’s what Buford did. You also have to keep in mind Buford only had 2 deputies so the playing field was never even. Also Mr. Elam likes to get statements from younger family members of the people Buford arrested so what do you expect them to tell. Buford said In enter views that he was not liked by the majority of these people and the citizens that were jealous of him for making him famous in the movie.
