Thanks for stopping by! I’m just here sharing my love for different hobbies. You’ll find Diecast cars, Pokemon cards, R/C vehicles, Car detailing, and more here! Needless to say I have lots of hobbies and not enough time for them all 🤣
How Fast Is The Traxxas Maxx
Decided to take Traxxas Maxx with me on my adventure with the X-Maxx. Figured they both needed some run time and I wanted to know how fast they are. The X-Maxx may have disappointed me but the Maxx came out swinging! 50MPH on 4s is no slouch to me! I love this little Maxx. That said the X-Maxx will have some changes next time you see it because the 42MPH on that was pitiful... Should I upgrade the Maxx for more speed? It's already crazy durable so I think that side is covered! Now get out there and run your RC cars!

Traxxas X-Maxx Speed Run
Переглядів 28912 годин тому
I got to get out of the house and run some RC cars today! Not going to lie, I'm slightly underwhelmed by the top speed of 42mph. I'll have to get the non belted tires on the X-Maxx and give it another go. If you didn't know belted tires will hurt the top speed due to less ballooning of the tires. YES oddly enough ballooning helps top speed as it changes drive ratios! Don't get me wrong, I think...

Crap get to the freaking point.
Make sure you have your tire wrench too. Lol I always seem to forget mine
That was in my RC go bag. It was actually my Impact driver lol. I agree that's an easy thing to forget as well though!
People buy Traxxas batteries for convenience. Some do not like Traxxas batteries for the price. Personally I use SMC. They are the BEST!!!!
@@jguillermoii I agree with you on SMC. That was kinda my point with the video. You can get better batteries, maintain Traxxas connectors, and still be able to have fun for less.
Congrats hellishd

@UmedZokerov Salom, how are you! Thank you for the comment!
Thank you for this video. As I mentioned before on your Traxxas lipo video, I'm still debating wether to upgrade to lipo. Not that that your video wasn't helpful, it was. The issue with me is that it takes me two to three weeks heck even up to a month to run my crawlers with juiced up batteries (thank God I only run nimh batteries), I get discouraged because where I live we dont have a decent place to crawl. We have a "lake" but it really Sucks! And thats why it takes me a long time to run my rigs. nevertheless, I know that I could damage the nimh batteries that way. I'm considering the Spektrum "Smart" charger/battery system since I'm such a weenie because I'm probably the only one that runs his crawlers with nimh batteries, there I said it! 😖 Anyway, would you recommend the Spektrum Smart system? Thank you for your awesome videos/tips. 👍🏼
@@rcgeneration824 the smart charging system is an awesome looking set up. Heck the Traxxas ID is to, but I’m anti proprietary systems 😂 that was really what I was trying to convey with the Traxxas video. It locks you into a specific system and you have to plan everything around that or spend more money to use something different. Obviously if I buy an Arrma here in the future I will have to buy batteries with the IC3/IC5 connector but they will be from SMC because it works with what I have and won’t need a new charger. ***But*** if a proprietary system fits your vehicles and what you run then absolutely do it. Feel free to email me and we can talk more about anything you’d like! Vr2slw4u@yahoo.com. Just let me know if you do.

@ can I ask what it is about on here?
@ yeah absolutely. I wanted to see what you’re using to make your videos and if you had wireless mics. I haven’t noticed you wearing any in your videos. I might be able to help you out with some stuff that I have, That’s all! I know it’s weird some random dude on the internet trying to message ya 😂 I get the skepticism 100%
I plan to buy two Traxxas Slash kits and I'm aware that the electronics are not that great. The one issue is that I never buy lipos (I fear them). All I use on my crawlers are nimh batteries. I know that nimh batteries on a slash will not give me long run times, but my question is, whats the run time on a lipo and what do you recommend?
LiPo batteries have come a long way, but safety on any battery is very important. I have personally never had a lipo battery catch fire or blow on me thankfully. That said I always inspect them and make sure they are not damaged. This process includes making sure none of the wires are frayed or broken, no damage to the pack itself, and that they aren’t swollen. You also want to make sure that if you’re not going to run your batteries for an extended period of time that you put them in storage mode(most new chargers can be set to this). When charging, storing, or transporting people use lipo sacks to hold the batteries in case of an incident. You can also use a Bat-Safe charging case for both charging and storing, I’ll link that bellow. As far as electronics go, I don’t find myself having issues. I know lots of people trash Traxxas electronics but there is a reason so many people buy their products. Also did you want my opinion on batteries as well? Thank you for watching my video and commenting. www.amainhobbies.com/batsafe-lipo-charging-case-baf-bat-safe/p698675?gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD_WU4D3QjkDB2hZX1kNp17DqZ4FU&gclid=CjwKCAiAneK8BhAVEiwAoy2HYRfUNg_EkB9JuKfmVzcg_UP8za8G9kPMjCXm5ShYG3g5sm_ZeyCP2xoCnEUQAvD_BwE
I missed the run time question! It’s all going to depend on the size battery and how it’s ran. I don’t have a slash to give you a great idea but on my 4s 5500 mah lipo in my Maxx I generally get 20-24min of run time. What slash are you looking at? Brushed or brushless? Also if brushless the BL2s or VXL3s? I guess that doesn’t really matter much in theory haha. Brushless will be more efficient though
@BashOnHobbies wow! Thank you very much for the info. My other question was, how much run time will I get on a lipo on a Slash?
@@rcgeneration824 I saw I missed that and added another comment should be right above your reply. Happy to help in any way I can!

Is the blade on v1 and v2 the same? Is the gimp on v1.5 deeper than on v1? Great video. You got a good radio voice and smooth delivery.
@@miteco1 thank you for the complements as I was very nervous making it. Always been kinda of an introvert so this has been challenging 😂. As far as the blade goes I see no differences other than this one actually has D2 marked on the blade.
I have many Traxxas vehicles. I never used Traxxas batteries or chargers. They were just too expensive. However, I now have a Traxxas charger and several Traxxas batteries all are ID. The adavantage I see with Traxxas batteries and chargers is they are easy to use. Just plug them in and let them charge. I always have to connect the balance wire and select on my charger what chemistry battery I have. I then need to select the number of cells. On my Traxxas charger, I select if I want to charge or put my battery in storage mode. If you are a beginner I think Traxxas is the way to go. It is just easier. Unfortunately it is more expensive. Thoughts?
I agree with everything you say and I'll give you my thoughts. I know that when I plug my charger in and connect my batteries its good to go. The only time I need to change the setting is when I want to balance my batteries. BUT I run all 4s batteries at the moment so it's just saved from the last charge. I will also say that ***MOST*** current chargers on the market have the ability to save battery programing in an app so it helps make it a simpler process. You can also buy batteries from a company like SMC with a TRX connector installed on them and charge them with your Traxxas charger as well, so there's a trick if you wanted to save money on batteries! You'd have to connect to the built in balance board on the charger but that would be the only draw back I could see. Everything has its place in this hobby and the Traxxas charger is a good product for someone new that needs it as simple as possible to learn or someone running specifically Traxxas batteries. Thanks for the comment!
@@BashOnHobbies The chargers I like are made by Venom. The batteries I like are also made by Venom. However, they no longer exist. I have been using my Venom batteries in Traxxas cars for along time and had no problems. The other problem with Traxxas besides cost is that Traxxas batteries have a lower "C" rating. Thoughts?
I used to always run venom batteries! If you can solder just put some TRX connectors on the batteries. Usually the venom batteries came with adapters. Traxxas was one of them. Personally I run Hitec chargers and SMC batteries now. You can use your Traxxas charger and charge a battery from SMC with the TRX plug supplying you with a better battery and no upgrade to charging unit. Your Traxxas charger has little blue panels on the front that will have balance ports behind.
@@BashOnHobbies You are right the Venom batteries do come adapters. Do the Hitec chargers use banana plugs for the output? Venom chargers do? I do have 2 soldering irons. I also have a MR jig. This jig allows me to soldering any connector I want. Thank you for telling me about the panel on the front. I was aware of it, but it is good to know. Thoughts?
Thanks for 50 50 deal that’s awesome man good stuff I didn’t know
You’re welcome. Are you talking about The Traxxas warranty? I’m lightly confused 😂
There is warranty on rc cars?? Lol not after i get my hands on them
@@mattb6945 usually the same here 😂
Traxxas battery's are junk. Especially 3s or 4s . Go gens ace or tattuu
Over priced and puff way to easy. then never fit properly.
If you want a good connection too use 8mm bullets. They never over heat or melt
8mm bullets defiantly supply power no doubt on that! Had them on my 6S X-Maxx. I’ve personally never ran Traxxas batteries so I have no opinion on them but I just wanted to share that other batteries can be had for less and work with your vehicle out of the box. I honestly hate that companies are putting out proprietary batteries. Does it make it easier for new people, yes but it also just helps a company make more money by making people think they have to use those products.
Ya also the other crappy thing about traxxas batteries is you have to have their charger or adapters that end up messing them up on normal chargers. Big money grab for traxxas.
@@mattb6945 spektrum jumped on the bandwagon too. With their batteries
I personally love the traxxas batteries, love their replacement options, not to mention their upgrade on electronic components if ha turn in the lower electronic system. I have seen alot of videos on this topic, traxxas batteries have a stellar warranty for batteries, not to mention they are real close to the actual listing on battery.
I agree with the warranty and electronics trade up, but that said you can still get other batteries that cost as much as a replacement from Traxxas. In the case of the X-Maxx you can have 2 batteries from SMC for the price of 1 Traxxas battery. I’m not hating on Traxxas just giving info. I absolutely love my Traxxas vehicles and their customer service is amazing imho
@BashOnHobbies i agree about the customer service traxxas provides, they are top notch
I use SMC and Gens Ace basher pros for my big trucks. I use all SMC batteries for my X-Maxx and XRT. They are great, less expensive than the Traxxas batteries, and you can even order them with the Traxxas connector or any connector of your choice. IMHO, the Traxxas batteries are too expensive. The chargers are too expensive too.
Couldn’t agree more!
Great video, what batteries would you buy for a Traxxas Summit? Cheers Ben
I’ve never owned one but I wanted to, so my insight is limited. I know that the batteries sit in the chassis like an erevo. You’d have to find the dimensions of the battery trays/boxes and see what would fit. If the measurements I found are correct SMC doesn’t show any that would fit. They are all a little bigger but that doesn’t mean there isn’t room to fit it. Wish I could be more help for ya. The size I found was 137x25x43mm so maybe that can help get you in the right direction! Kyle
@BashOnHobbies thanks champ, I'll look into it. Don't want to pay big $ for Traxxas batteries.
I hear you on that Traxxas tax for batteries. I hope you find something and really appreciate you stopping in
Smc, gens ace , zippy, and a few others make decent battery's for the summit, is it stock brushed or brushless. If stock I'd run dual 2s at 2s and if revo brushless moded dual 2s at 4s
Also stay away from 6s in those rigs the stock transmission and rest of it tends to break, 8s is a nightmare lol if you do want 6s in it get the metal transmission gears
I use hoovo they work great plug right in the traxxas connector
@@khwamtay6459 I seen them as an option from Amazon. They definitely have good prices on their batteries! I may have to buy a set and give them a try myself.
no. Any hobbyist knows that fact.
@@johnr2391 thanks for the comment. You’re correct any “hobbyist” may know that fact but there are new people getting into the hobby that don’t fit that category and have no idea where to start. We all started somewhere and people come to google and UA-cam to find information, so I’m sharing my insight and knowledge to hopefully help someone.
Have a look at gensace. They're good cheaper batteries.
@@glenwhatley7366 I see tons of good things on them and will try them with an Arrma at some point. I just was trying to convey other batteries have Traxxas ends to use with stock esc connector for less than Traxxas batteries. Gens ace had batteries iirc that had TRX connectors but no listings anymore.
Ive been using zippy batteries for about 15 years. In my boats, planes, and cars and trucks.
@@trickmustang1994 I used to have those for my mini erevo, Think I got them from hobby king. Honestly any battery company can be run in a Traxxas vehicle or any RC for that matter if you modify the ECS connector or battery connector.
Yeah power is power but that’s their way of screwing people out of warranty or buy adapters they make whatever you need just have to find em traxxas batteries aren’t any better paying for a name
Awesome advice! SMC are arguably the best on the market (especially at their price point) and offer amazing performance. Good to see a new channel with great content!
@@BriansRCStuff thank you for the kind words! I agree, SMC has killer batteries for the price. I saw other options like Hoovo and HEB with Traxxas connectors but SMC warranty is better imho.
