Great info :)
Thanks
I was an actor in the Virginia City Opera House when you visited! Such a cool town
That is so cool. We really enjoyed the area!
7:07 mark: I absolutely put any leftover wet cat food in the fridge after the can is opened. I don't really have to worry about that anymore since we now exclusively buy a brand which comes in little (twin) packages. It's just enough for my two cats. There aren't any leftovers. 8:15 mark: I'd encourage you to try organic half-and-half instead of coffee creamer. It's very acceptable as a replacement, IMO (and it's multi-purpose because it can also be used in cooking). If you need extra flavor, then perhaps you could use a small dropper and add a single drop or two of real vanilla extract to the cup. I use organic evaporated sugar cane in my coffee. I sometimes split 1-2 whole vanilla beans and put them in my big sugar canister to infuse the flavor of vanilla into the sugar. Because there's no sweetener in half-and-half, I do use a little less than a tablespoon of sugar to a 13 oz mug of strong coffee. That might seem like a lot, but I only drink 2 cups of coffee a day (sometimes 3 cups). I've actually seen an organic coffee creamer in the past, but I can't remember what brand or which store. Just keep an eagle eye out for it--especially if you have a health-food store or natural market nearby. 11:18 mark: Awe, Norton is a cutie! 🐕😊 17:14 mark: I object to the boxed muffin mix. Lol. I suppose I've spoiled myself and my family with cornbread made from scratch for far too long. 😁 I hope you guys get a real day off soon! 🙏
In my defense ... I don't know anything about corn bread 😕 This morning, I actually took my coffee black. It was awful, but I got both cups down. I hope it grows on me. I have looked at the individually packaged wet cat food, but it is so expensive. Maybe I will give it a try.
If I ever got an RV, it would be a small class C or B (or B+). Definitely not a class A. Lol. I'm just one person, of course, so I don't need all that room.
We had a class C ... but I would love to try a class B.
I’m one that don’t believe in camping at Walmart, that’s really what commercial campgrounds are for
We don't camp at Walmart ... we sleep and get supplies.
We never boondock , DW said it was campgrounds or home
Boondocking is a great way to save money.
Verizon has a credit card that gives 4% off fuel, groceries, and restaurants. It comes off your phone bill
That is good information ... thanks for sharing!
Very informative and interesting. We want a small travel trailer for the 2 of us. We want simple and easy to move about. Thanks Alec!
Glad you found the information useful.
The most direct, no nonsense video on the topic! As a single full timer, I chose my 20ft class B 5 years ago and it’s been no more and no less than I’ve needed. I prefer simplicity and ease; set up and take down takes 3-5min! Here’s to 2025 to you and yours!
Thank you so much for your kind response. I think Class Bs are great, especially if you move around alot.
After our travel trailer and hitching and unhitching all those times, plus putting all the stuff out 🙄 while camping ( awing, lights, chairs, outdoor refrigerator, mat, screen room) taking hours to put it all away, hitch up to leave 😵💫 I’d had enough. Now I’m a 21’ Class C. I park, put out a chair or two and push a button for a power awing. Sometimes I don’t even hook up water 😂. Just electricity. I can leave a campsite in 10 min 😊. That’s the way I like it. Now I don’t need 40 acres to turn around. I fit anywhere.
I know what you mean about setup and teardown.
A lot of the same reasons we went with the smallest boat that we could be comfortable on. Plus when getting a seasonal slip or traveling to a transient slip they charge us by the foot. Imagine if rv parks charged by the foot?
I would hate to be charged by the foot. I bet boat life is awesome!
When we started out on the road we had 5 kids and 5 dogs. Couldn’t all fit into the class A we bought so put the kids up for adoption.
Thanks for giving us a watch. Happy new year.
All really good points Alec ! I have a small home base in Florida. So, I don’t live full time RVING. I love my Fiberglass Casita we use all the time. It might be too small for some people. But , got us out of our tent camping for over 60 years. Thanks for sharing your thoughts Alec ! 😁
Casita makes a great RV. We are glad you get to enjoy the great outdoors.
I enjoy all your videos, but for me, as I get closer to buying mine for full-time living.. this video is my favorite so far. Full of information, some I've figured out, and you have reinforced what I figured out. You also gave me more to think about before the Columbia RV show coming up. Great timing
We are glad you found the video helpful. Cindy and I might be manning a both for Midpoint I-95 RV Park at the Columbia show. Hope to see you there.
You definitely won’t be bored working at a new park ! Oh, those pro breeze are very good. But, the little fans inside get real dusty . Then they start making noise . Only way to clean them is to disassemble them. It is a delicate operation. lol How did your new DC cooler work out ? Did the brick get hot ? Thanks for sharing Alec .
We love the cooler, and yes, it did. I clean the pro breeze with compressed air.
@@SHARINGJOURNEY Yeah , I tried the air compressor as well. Helped a little. But, tiny fan needed a drop of oil from it squealing . I know I could just buy another. But , I’m just thrifty ! 😁
I’m shopping for 25 ft or a little less even. We like camping in state parks and our class C was 31ft, even though that is not that long, it did limit the sites we could reserve.
Anything less than 26' get very small, very quickly. 31' to 26' doesn't seem like a big difference, but it is.
We love our state parks, and you are right ... lots of state parks have smaller sites.
If you are not living full-time in it .... something that small would be ok ... most weekenders are just using the camper as a place of rest.
It's mostly a frame of mind. What comforts are you willing to sacrifice for convenience and mobility? My wife and I ( & 1 dog, 1 cat) just downsized from a 30 foot travel trailer with one large slide to a 21 foot with no slide. Yes, it's tight, but we see the benefits of being able to go almost anywhere, get in to almost any gas station, go through almost any small town, and park or turn around in almost any parking lot. We also have manual everything. It doesn't take much effort to manually put down stabilizers and then if one breaks, it's $20, six screws and twenty minutes to replace it. Also water heater, furnace, and holding tanks with connections are easily accessible for quick repairs. Not to mention, it's all much cheaper than larger rigs and improves our gas mileage. For us, the benefits far outweighed the comforts of a larger rigs. But to be completely transparent, ask me again in a year and I might have a different opinion. 😊
@russellstewart4177 and it has an awesome floorplan
For my coffee I use Stevia or Agave and heavy whipping cream. Simple and quick to find and a bare minimum of ingredients. Just my two cents, your mileage may vary 😊
We find that our milage does very .... but the average for the last 30,000 is 6.4 mpg. I can't do Stevia in my coffee anymore. We prefer Blue Agave or local honey.
You guys are looking slim and trim. ❤
Well thank you.
So hope you use an actual timer for your lights. I have RV's on both sides of me and they both have nearly 50' of lights that are left on all night, while they sit inside their rig. I just don't get the camping light thing. It's like people are afraid of the darkness maybe. It's like camping next to a used car lot from the 70's.
We don't have anyone on the side that we have lights on, so there is no one to bother. Currently, our coach is also the office, so we leave the light on.if there was a camper on the side with the light, I would turn them off when. We head to bed.
I’ve seen the same thing with people leaving lights on all night . It’s irritating to me as well!
That's understandable
Totally agree on the flavored drinks. That was one of my big changes - no more soda, no more Crystal Lite, etc. I also gave up caffeine, so am now drinking herbal (caffeine free) teas. We always refrigerate open can's of pet food, but then, we have 2 full size appliances, so a lot more room than you do...
We need to get a handle on our food supply. We use the YUKA app and scan packaged food before we buy it. It is amazing at alm the harmful chemicals in our food.
We don’t feed our dog dog food she feels and look much better! My coffee just a splash of whole milk for me no sweetness at all ! 😊
What do you feed your dog?
@ in the morning she gets two scrambled eggs couple tablespoons of pumpkin and Greek yogurt! For supper cooked chicken or canned chicken or canned salmon it’s cheaper that a can of dog food at aldi we stock up and lots of green beans only a dollar a bag at aldi we stock! Also cooked sweet potatoes or yams, rice ! All vet approved! No skin problems or stomach or poop problems !
@donnawashburn1638 your pup lives like a king. I might have to make some changes.
@@SHARINGJOURNEY actually she the queen lol! But it’s actually cheaper feeding her this way and her stomach feels better and her skin doesn’t itch!
@donnawashburn1638 the skin itch is actually the worst
Also your right back yard butcher sucks, but I used those steaks for breakfast steaks , they were perfect for steak & eggs .
Thanks ... that's a great idea 💡
It’s a dehydrator
Thank you
Hello Alec and Cindy! You two sure have a different definition of a day off than I do…lol😃 I’m new to the Class-A life so please forgive my ignorance. Do you ever relax your leveling jacks while you’re stationary at a park? Or do you just stay on them deployed the entire time you’re camped and only retract them when you leave a campground? I was thinking that they should be excersized periodically and spray pistons with silicone if exposed to wind and sand for more than a week or so, but then I thought about folks that stayed camped at the same spot for extended periods of time for months like you do and decided to ask. 👍🏼😎
We will start getting real days off once the work camping team arrives. If we are sitting for a long time ... every few months, I will relevel the coach ... but you don't have to.
@@SHARINGJOURNEY Thank you.
@rickgriffith1 hope it helped

What kind of laundry mat is that 😂 probably didn’t even pass it around 🤣 apparently it’s not in the best part of town. Time for a Yelp review 🤭
How did you know I was a big YELPER!
🤣🤣 Cindy’s response was exactly what mine was!! “Party at the laundromat!!”
LOL 😆
Opened cat food can last 5-7 days in fridge. Opened dog food 3 days. Courtesy Uncle Google. - that little Norton is too cute 🐾🐶
Thanks .... I guess we could have asked Mr. Google but didn't think to do it.
I can’t drink coffee unless it is black. No sweetner or creamer.
Oh wow ... you are a warrior
Yup, sorry I posted under someone else’s comment and not a new comment. Went to edit and you had already replied
@charlieostler8538 that is fine .... just happy to.have the interaction
That looks like a practical campground for winter.
We are really liking it!
Happy New Year, great insight Lived in the area and Bunky's was my breakfast spot.
Did not know if you new that Mr. Bunky died a few years ago.
@@SHARINGJOURNEY No but thanks.
It was very sad
Watch who you vote for. As soon as Biden took office he cancelled Keystone pipeline and fracking.
So true
We discovered that Shell stations will give you 5 cents off at when you put your cell number in at the pump. No membership or minimum purchase. I think it is up to 20 gallons but still some savings to be had.
Thank you .... I did not know about the Shell discount!
Diesel price in Arkansas is $2.78 Gas price is $2.44 I believe fuel prices will drop in 2025, Hopefully rv sites rates will drop as well!!
I filled up gas last night at $2.79 ... I have high hopes for price drops in 2025
I save my ducks for summer and give them to familes with kids at campgrounds
That's a great idea 💡
😂 🦤 👍
@@karenfromil 😃
Don't worry, Trump will make things cheaper like he promised during his election campaigning... oh wait he went back on that lol Groceries are going to keep going higher. I can't believe people voted for him thinking that he actually cares about them. He only cares about his wallet and nothing else.
Great points Alec. I look forward to 2025 to see if gas prices will drop or stay the same. I admire you and Cindy to be able to live together in such a small space. The two of you are couple goals. Happy New Year!
Thank you so much for the kind words. We are hoping to see prices drop.
With all due respect Only getting 6 miles to the galloon will always be a BIG expense in traveling. Plus the maintenance
You are right it is a big expense ... but cheaper than our house was ... but it is getting more expensive as prices rise. Work Camping makes it much more affordable. Thanks for watching.
Boondocking is basically non existent in and around Warner Robins, Georgia. Alot of the "Rat"motorhomes ruined it for everyone.
They are ruining it for everyone
Great talk and valid points.
Thank you so much.
really? I haven’t had a bad experience….yet 😂 I’m always willing to have one because it’s bound to happen. I’ve had nothing but good experiences so far and been to 8 different places so far. It can get pricey though I have found.
@Thesaltymedic36 Glad it works for you and your travels. Stay safe out there!
I do like my Upside app. It does great with my Rv. Fuel is always a huge expense. Probably the biggest expense. Yeah the public land being overcrowded is about right. That’s why I got 4wd so I can get past them 😂 the worse the road, the less people can get there. You know what they are spending our tax dollars on. Everyone but us 😂 The rules that governments impose are definitely ridiculous. I’m sure I’m going to get arrested for my mouth at some point. 😊 It’s only illegal if you are caught. I know you are retired Leo but 🤷🏼♂️ and I know it’s because of the homeless people Destroying everything. Literally EVERYTHING. I see us using Harvest Host a lot. I’m also not afraid to ask to park overnight, firehouse, bars, gas stations, motels….✌🏼
You are so right with all that ... well except Harvest Host. I am not a fan ... we had many bad experiences using Harvest Host ... we did not renew our membership. Harvest Host seems to work well for others, it just didn't ever seem to workout for us. Safe travels!
