Funny stuff
We didn't need you in front
@@jus10sane good for you buddy
I started watching Mid South Wrestling in 1980 at the age of 10. I also started watching "Houston Wrestling" at about the same time, then got into "Georgia Championship Wrestling" (aka NWA and later WCW) a couple of years later when Turner's Atlanta Superstation WTBS was added to our cable tv subscription. Houston Wrestling eventually did a "merger" of sorts with "Southwest Championship Wrestling" (low-budget AWA affiliate ran by Tully Blanchard's dad Joe) in the early 80's, and never really was the same. I followed pro wrestling fairly consistently until Vince McMahon bought the WCW in the early 2000's. I pretty much quit following pro wrestling after that. I never really cared for the WWE. I recall that Junkyard Dog blinding incident at the hands of the Freebirds like it was yesterday. Mid South would come do live shows in my hometown of Lake Charles, La back in those days, and I remember getting either my Mom or my Dad to take me and 1-2 of my friends to go see them. We'd go eat roast beef sandwiches at the Hardee's across the street then head on over to the Civic Center on the lake. JYD found a miracle cure for his blindness in Visine eye drops, and was eventually able to get revenge on Hayes by beating the crap out of him in a "Jim Bowie Death Match". I always got a kick out of the way Skandor Akbar would call DiBiase "Da-BEW-se" when he was feuding with him, then when Ted would turn heel and be on Skandor's side, he would pronounce Ted's last name correctly. "Bladerunner Rock" (aka Jim Helwig, The Ultimate Warrior) was probably at his biggest and thickest in those early days. In later years he became leaner and less bulked up (although still obviously extremely muscular). Both Jim Cornette and Michael Hayes have given lengthy shoots on their time in Mid South. Both have said that the crowds in Lake Charles were the craziest people in the territory. They have both mentioned having to drive to the sheriff station (which was then across the street from the Civic Center) and park their cars there, then get a police escort. They found that they would get their tires slashed and their cars vandalized if the didn't park them at the police station. Both have said that they experienced moments in LC where they feared for their safety. JYD unfortunately had a bad drug problem, as Bill Watts has pointed out. Buddy Landell was another star who was in Mid South in his early years. The tv commentator for Mid South was Boyd Pierce. And the tv ring announcer was Reeser Bowden. Would love to see you do a deep dive on Houston Wrestling as well. Bruce Prichard has said that it was eventually bought out by McMahon in the late 80's.
@@Quicksilver714 the whole state of Texas is on the list after we cover some wrestlers from Mid South Wrestling. There’s a lot of fans that have asked me and recommended me to do that and we can spend months on it. Honestly, I think Houston is way overlooked.
No
Was Dustin Rhodes introduced as Dusty's cousin for real or was it just a mis-word by Joe Monroe?
@@lpgodin2 missworded by our idiot host 🤦♂️
It was fake.
Do u have any videos of him wrestling
@@MarleneBolin I have old tapes but you can find some on here
It is ok bradon
My grandfather was in the co main event at the 1st ever IWA show. RIP Moondog Spike
I hate scream 3 and loooove scream 4 to each their own lol
You really don't know anything about them. They weren't doing only deathmatches constantly like people think. I've seen most shows from 2006 through 2008 and yeah there's deathmatches, but most is normal wrestling. No one talks about chuck Taylor's year long title reign there. Every match he had was awesome there including his tag work before he won the belt. Everyone obsesses with Ted petty 2004 but 06,07,08 were bangers. Lowki vs strong vs arik cannon? Where else is going to.book that

That was a prime age for me in wrestling...NWO/NWO Wolfpack was the prefect precursor to the attitude era of wrestling. It was an entire vibe. Second largest group of wrestlers population wise. Second to only DX.

Wolfpac was only created because nWo Monday Nitro TNT was supposed to be a thing... Wolfpac should have done its own thing with no nWo affliation.
Syxx was underrated. Hired to compliment Hall and Nash and fired to set an example to Hall and Nash. nWo 2K doesn't even count. CPR by Vince Russo to push his guy Jeff Jarrett into the spotlight.
Lance Storm was good - but mega star?
🎉🎉🎉😊
you're doing a great job joe, keep it up!
thank you!
this great!
🙏
Eric Bischoff brought WCW to prominence with NWO but that was also his downfall. Giving creative control to old washed up Hogan was nonsensical. He had no ideas after NWO ran it's course, he was left with all his NWO buddies trying to stay in power at expense of all rest of roster.
Thank you for this video
I don’t get it
This is a wrestling match that featured our host Joe Monroe when he went up against Austin Diamond -Dave
My 1st wrestling memory was seeing Jerry Piledrive Andy in Memphis.
Trained professionals. Mostly.
This was such a fun episode. You all are so awesome
Go Joe go
This video is too painful to watch, It has been done befire, only better
Thank you for your wonderful feedback, have a great day!
One of my favorite memories as a kid was when Eric Embry beat PY in the cage and tore down the WCCW banner and brought in USWA. I thought that was a great angle to get WCCW out of the way.
They all should have backed the NWA. Each state could have been a division of the NWA. NWA Tennesee, NWA Georgia, NWA N Carolina and so on. One state champion competing for a national title.
Exactly...instead of being greedy, they should have realized they couldnt beat WWF on their own, but as a group working TOGETHER, with 1 NWA Champion, it could have been good and when 2002 hit and the WWE popularity had waned somewhat, they could have been there to pick up the ROH / TNA crowds. Vince knew the promoters could NEVER work together.
There's a difference between hardcore and backyard fights. There's really not any "wrestling" involved.
Not the puppet shushing him

Congratulations
nice work Joe
this supershow was pretty fun haha :)

That's my guy!!! Great collaboration!!
Thank you hopefully I continue on building it up more, much to the wife’s dismay 😂
I rather enjoyed this!
Thank you!
JD deserved his flowers a long time ago he would’ve been a great worker in any locker room either in WWE, ECW, or WCW! I would love to see JD Thunder be inducted into the Independent Wrestling Hall of Fame or National Wrestling Hall of Fame.
can't wait for episode 2!!
Owen Hart, miss that guy
Nice that he remembered his 2x US champion & 2x Tag champion as sum1 who worked 4 him
