Two weeks ago I just got a used '89 Javelin 378 set up just like yours except mine has gray carpet. Thanks for the video! It told me a couple of things I didn't know about my boat. Great for swimming with family on the lake, pulling towables or even a skier, and of course fishin' with my son!
Great video! I have the same motor. By chance do you know how to take the skirt off between the lower pan and the middle shaft? I can take the 2 bolts out from the back but it still feels like it's bolted on someone
I had same problem new fuel line fixed it up
Hey man is there a way I can get into contact with you I just bought javelin I got some questions if your willing to
I have the one with a V4. Mine hase gray carpet but interior is the same as yous . Would like to have a conversation about some things on mine.
Is your Johnson a 20inch leg or 25 I have a 1990 javelin just curious
I got the 94 Javelin 409 FS with the Johnson GT 200 Venom on it, It will do mid 60's and once on a dead calm lake Sam Rayburn in Texas it went 72 with a 25 Degree 13.5 4 blade Renegade prop on it. I still have it in mint condition and like myself that Johnson loves to smoke and drink, lol Fun fact: The dude that designed the Javelin for OMC also designed the Stratos and more recently the Nitro brand.
When installing the lower after taken off, it’s not engaging in gear. Prop free spins, no matter where the shifter is placed.
I would like to see better your seat setup .. also , I have to sit way back on the bench for tiller handle !! Do you know of a fix for that ?
I got the 16 “ version and love ..
Just having fun? That's what it's all about. Who could ask for more
What lake is that, that you get it all by yourself? I have a 16' Skeeter that I swapped a 85 with a 155 Merc and hope to have it on the water this spring.
Clarks hill on the Savannah river chain in Georgia,
What is the weight capacity
hey man i know this was a while ago but do you remember what size socket you used to get that first screw/pin out for the shift linkage?
mine was 3/8ths
I have the same outboard I’m putting on my 1436. How’s the transom holding up? Did you reenforce it at all ?
Thanks for making the video... great idea on the foot plate!
I have that same motor need to clean carbs and get running again....that thing ran great when it ran
How fast are you running with a 115 on it?
With that prop which was an aluminum 3 blade I forget the pitch, she ran 49, I later swapped to a 4 blade 21 pitch and she was a 52 mph boat at that point, Full of gear and full of gas with water in the live well. Which was pretty nuts to me but that’s also probably the lightest glass boat in that 16 foot size category as well so I’m sure that makes a difference
Nice boat I also have G3 1436 pure fish slayer
What did you use for the front support on your trailer? I just got one of these boats and noticed that it does not have a center keel so a single roller will not work. Thanks!
I have the same year javelin. Just took off the ignition switch and all of my labels fell off while I was at the store. Any chance you could send me a pic of the wires or tell me what colors go to which letter?
I've had my 1436 G3 for 7years. With a 25hp 2stroke. Strong boat. I do believe they use pressure treated wood in the transom tho. Mine has sat for 4of those years in a bad way. And developed 1/4 holes in the transom. Getting it redone now. And back in shape to sell
Just purchased on these boots was curious how 1436 would handle weight & power of Evinrude 25hp?
@@jacklowe3788 4stroke?or 2?
I have a 2000 Javelin 17 FS with a 2001 Yamaha 115 2 Stroke. The max I could get was 41 MPH but that was with a bunch of fishing gear and two people and it was not at the max revs but I don't want to push it to the max because of it being over 20 years old.
My 89 javelin 366 with 90 hp Johnson will hit 45 with Two people and all our gear. I weigh 270 lbs buddy weighs about 240 and that was trimmed up as far as I could without pourposing
@@kylebrown8891 Oh neat! It was at basically flat trim on the run so it probally could do alot more. Maybe 65 with no people and no gear and the trim adjusted but who knows Lel
One kinda funny thing I noticed is the original registration paper was written in comic sans
He sound a bit know it all .U are fun to listen to dude . Be kind to yourselves . Happy new year
S I would buy that PMC in a heart beat dude
I sure enjoy listening and watching you dude
More carbs have been destroyed by bad fuel lines
That motor is worth 5x what the boat and trailer is lol
😂 lol your 100% right, that trailer was just an old one I was redoing to put a new John boat on (didn’t have t he new John yet) and the ole gheenoe was a cheap pawn shop find. I need to test the ole evinrude out on the water so I just slapped that gheenoe on the trailer I was working on clamped the evinrude to the back and struck out, I just wanted to ride and fish I probably would have mounted that engine to a dern bath tub just to hit the water at that point in time 🤣😂 good times
@@outdooraddiction8026 I’ve been there and understand lol,, wish you were closer I have a 90 9.9 evinrude I’d like gone through, hard to find a good outboard mechanic where I’m at.
Watching this video realizing how familiar that 15hp looks. I painted that motor, can’t remember if I sold it to you or somebody else. It was a great little motor at the time
Where ya from bud
@@outdooraddiction8026 Blythewood sc
Where’s the serial number plate on this motor?
That’s a sweet set up I wish my 14 had the livewell
I have the same year same boat and i can't get the seats off the pedistools is there a trick to it seems there stuck on the springs?
You have to pull up while turning left like loosening a bolt, once you get out a few times it comes out much easier
What a idiot, you did 2 days worth of work for nothing
What size Jon boat there?
Nice dude! I got a G3 last spring and love it!
What does the capacity sticker say on max persons and weight? I’m looking at a boat just like yours to buy. Johnson 150 GT
Rated for 15hp? On their website they offer a 30hp for it. That transom is hella built with that frame vs wood.
No one else that has done this job is indicated that it's that involved... Do you have the Clymers manual or the Johnson Evinrude repair manual...?
Hey bud to make the job so much easier just split the casing you can get rt to the shifting linkage you don't have to pull all the front of the motor
shari terrill well I was also rebuilding carbs but you do have to get behind the carb to take the shift linkage loose
im on their website now and i dont see the livewell on the 1436
JimW model name is 1436 LW

@@outdooraddiction8026 thanks brother how much was it it says send for quote soory to bother you so much

Hey man. I have the same exact engine. So my engine starts on the first try. It runs fine. The problem i have is that after i cut it off to fish and troll for an hour or more the motor is really hard to start. Sometimes it just wont cut back on or at least i give up trying. Ive cleaned the carb, changed the plugs played with the gap and nothing seems to change. Ive noticed that if i open the throttle fast it will bog and cut off but if i do it slow itll be fine. Any i deas on what the problem could be?

Dennis Drinkwater this is true
Lol. Wish you was my neighbor or lived close. I have a Johnson 9.9Hp electric start and trying to get it to fire up. Model is J10ELCCD
LamArmstrong where do you live friend
The great state of Oklahoma lol. In Oklahoma City. I got spark. Low compression though 30psi and no fuel going to fuel pump but I used starter fluid. I am checking why psi is so low.
@@lamarmstrong4389 probably a bad guage
you only need to take the airbox off and the cowling. you made this a terrible job. awful!
Don Gesswin there were other jobs being performed than just the lower coming out, such as the carbs being rebuilt and the reeds replaced, and it’s much easier to show the actual location of the shift linkage screw with the carbs out of the way, but I do believe the main point of the video was pointed out... showed the location of the screw for the shift linkage to drop the lower unit, also was a learning experience for me I didn’t have a swivel to easily get to the bolt for the linkage, by folks who watched the video now know where the bolt is located and I believe that’s really all they needed to know, they can judge for them selves if they should remove all the carbs or not, but way to go there keyboard warrior, do you feel bigger now that you tried to make a young guy feel little who is learning as he goes since we can’t all afford to pay a professional, I bet you feel much bigger now don’t ya, and if ya already knew how to do it, why were you even watching the video? Also take a moment look at subscriber count and amount of views before you judge people, you can tell by my number I’m new and learning, we don’t all put out perfect videos from day 1, I know for a fact the video has helped some folks. I can’t believe the video bothered you so bad you felt the need to try to belittle me lol it’s a little funny it bothered you that much
Beautiful boat!
NOVA OutDoors thank you!
No need to remove the carburetors, fuel pumps. First, put the lower unit into reverse. This brong the shift shaft up, giving access to the screw in the linkage/sjift tod. Then you can use a long screw driver to break the screw loose, then use an expanding blade screw driver to remove the screw all the way out. You should be able to pick up one of these screw drivers at an auto parts store.
I bought mine last fall and need to get a trolling motor but I don't know what shaft length I should get I was wondering if you could help me out, Thanks
High speed jets
Aimee Fowler it was the power pack, thanks for the suggestion though I appreciate it!
You still around, homie? Need an update on the boat!
jasonsupafly yeah bud I’m still here! Lol sorry it’s been a while on uploads, Deer season came and took me away from the fishing and the boats, but that being said last weekend was the end of it and I’ll be back uploading soon! Nice to know a few folks out there still wanna see some videos! This boats been great but the 25 is definitely too much power for her lol
jasonsupafly hey I’ve got a new toy during deer season; it’s a 4x4 toy/project, would you Guys be interested in videos on that project? Even though it’s not boat or fishing related?
OUTDOOR ADDICTION Absolutely! Can’t wait to see whatcha got!
I'm buying one of these today!
Jude Pearson sweet!! It’s a blast! I’ll be uploading a new video of the boat in the spring taking it on another run and walk through of all the updates I’ve made to the boat and fixing up I’ve been doing on her
Jude Pearson oh yeah and check out (Javelin Bass Boats) on face book, real good group to join, I’ve collected many missing pieces from glovebox kid to trim pieces, original stuff from this group, and any questions you have about things with you boat these guys know it all
Also I was able to leave fuel pump in tack and use a long flat head to reach it from the side if u put it right under fuel pump u can get to it then I used a 3/8ths open wrench to tighten it up
A.E fishing Esquivel good deal man glad my video could help, this was one of my first hopefully next time I can shoot a better video on it
