How do you sustain such tight clearances around the unit? Do you have any heat shielding requirements for your Jotul? It is a beautiful design for a wood burner. It doesn't look like someone just cut a hole out of a hot water heater, like some other models out there.
@@drewk8601 The main requirement from going on memory was that it had to be a certain distance from the wall and that there had to be a hearth underneath that is a certain size. That being said the heat mostly projects forward so the other sides do not get so hot that they hurt paint/furniture. Hopefully this helps.
It's difficult to find independent reviews on this, so thanks for posting. Jotul have since redesigned it, but have missed some opportunities IMHO. It's still the most popular stove in Europe, and the earlier version was the only wood burner to ever receive the coveted "Red Dot" design award, although personally I have no idea why. This stove is a HEAD or HEART choice. There are far better designed stoves for the same money - your HEAD would tell you to buy the HETA 900 Scan Line, or a HWAM, but your HEART (and the missus) would tell you to buy the Jotul F373, which is, frankly, beautiful. It graces a high-end interior and is a talking point. The big glass, the raised position on it's plinth - the elegance...superb. BUT, even with the V2 Advance redesigned model, you have a small ashpan (contrast that with the HETA gorgeously convenient 5 litre deep pan), a fiddly, poor riddle system (again, contrast with the HETA), ash that drops out on door opening if you're not careful with log size (small) and positioning when loading. Also the "afterthought" pull-out/push-in control mechanism sticking out of the front of the stove (why-oh-why!!!). Contrast with the superb rotating dial adjust on the HETA -superb!!! Also, this stove won't stay in all night. Frequent loading needed. I think even the newer version doesn't permit external direct air supply - why not? Max output of 10Kw, whereas the HETA is 12-13Kw. The Jotul is below 80% efficiency, but the HETA is 83%. I could go on.... So, am I buying a HETA or HWAM? No. I'm buying the F373. Why? Because of its drop-dead gorgeous looks. I can put up with its problems, because it's beautiful.
Hi, you absolutely right in your opinion about this stove, and you are completely wrong. First there is no choice, I'm talking in US, what to buy. I was extremely lacky to get 370 few years ago, and pretty much it was the only choice, and this is an absolutely unique stove of this type produced and distributed in US. The stove is very simple to use and care for and in my opinion absolutely earned "Red Dot" design award
@@dmitriy64u Yeah, in Europe we have more choice. Currently, however, the waiting times to receive the order on pretty much all stoves is months and the prices have sky-rocketed. We've been really lucky to get a stock F373 and it'll be fitted early November. Happy days. Warm this winter!
The glass will have soot accumulate on the side windows and front after every few fires but easily comes off with a paper towel dabbed in water, so the glass has stayed nice and clean. Hope this helps.
We are on our fourth winter with the F370 and it is working great. We will need to replace the door seal this year but other than that it still looks new.

@@hikerdoc6771 Thanks, enjoy
Wood level should not exceed plane of vents in back wall.
Travis, can you provide a video for cleaning the Jotul F370 Wood stove?
Size wood? 30 cm?
Not the standard size. We get smaller cuts that are no longer than 16-18 inches
the glass gets very dirty? thanks

Hi, a great scoop. Question - Where did you place thermometer, if you have one on this stove?
We do not have a thermometer in this stove.
@@Travis-ex6pz Thanks
Not enough info. Not at all. Enjoy your stove.
