Hi bought one of these bikes last week on facebook. Unfortunately it didn't come with a chain. What size chain do I need it's 6 speed. Thank you. I can't find any information on this online. Many thanks Jay

I have one of these, currently in the process of selling it. I've had a lot of use out of mine - I bought it when I started at university in 2010 where it was my only way of getting around and kept using it as my main bike until I brought a Gazelle ebike back from the Netherlands in 2018. I also have a Brompton so the Apollo is redundant for me now. It's at the stage where there aren't many original parts left on it!

Just learnt from this that mine is a first generation 1985 model, bought it yesterday here in Belgium, nice original condition and now part of my vintage Raleigh collection.

Quite nice. But Reynolds 520 means it's made in Taiwan. Nothing wrong with that but it used to be what you got on the Horizon (the budget tourer). A Galaxy used to be Reynolds 631, made in 🇬🇧, and would have had components more around the 105 level.

How is it a hybrid though I don't understand that

A basic bike which isn't fantastic but better than the apollo bikes.

The grey ones have steel rims the red have alloy, the frame number is on the back of the seat tube towards the top the 3rd character determines the year ie NH7**** would be 1987

What are these wheels? Are they 700x28c? I've got Raleigh 700x28c steel on mine equipe and wonder if they are stock or somebody has changed them.

I opened mine but it's still stuck, it rotates but I can't get it out

I was thinking about boardman 8.6 so you can replace stem on that but really i dont think hybrids look as good as mountain bike which ive had for ten years and i ride roads with it

The shorts are very quick and easy, most of mine are utter nonsense but I enjoy the process… 2 or 3 a week will take up no time at all. Good luck

If it feels a little wide on the nose, assuming it is the correct SMP for you (big difference between the Composit I have which is 129mm wide compared to the Blaster which is 131mm wide), drop the nose angle a few degrees at a time until that nose feel disappears without feeling like you are sliding forward or putting too much weight on your hands. SMP saddles are very sensitive to very slight changes in set up. I ride an SMP Composit and it is awesome.

Don’t need to watch the video. Using a Selle SMP Nymber saddle with carbon rails and I love it! No hot spots, no soreness, and this from a guy who’s had an issue with saddles forever(as in over 30 years!)!

Enjoyed it too. Rode it couple of times. Did 100+ miles on my other one because I had more time, the VT30C "velvet touch" one. And it allows some movement as its slightly flatter. But no taint pains on either which was a plus.
